Music can be a powerful thing in life. Depending on the genre, it can stir the emotional plane in people like nothing else can. A quick look at early history from the Bible reveals hymns to worship God, and in the 18th to 19th centuries we saw the symphonic/chamber era with Chopin, Liszt, Bach, and Mozart.
The personal lives of many composers at the time were considered over the top by standards of the day, but people turned a blind eye because of the role music played on their emotions.
