(EDIT: I wanted to let our readers know I made a small change in this article. I posted the wrong month for the message. It should have been July and not August.)
Romans 1:16 – For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
The Visiting Teaching Message for July 2013 is Teaching and Learning the Gospel. It’s so important to know the gospel of Jesus Christ and to share what you know with others. There are many false gospels, beliefs and teachings in this world that will lure you away from Jesus Christ if you let them.
Many of these gospels tickle the ears of the listener, and make false claims that appeal to the flesh but in the light of day they’re exposed for what they really are. Many religions preach gospels that teach outlandish things, things that are blasphemy and will quickly lead your heart to places you shouldn’t go. If we ever need a warning sign with flashing red lights, and need to know how to spot a false gospel from the real one Paul gives us one.
He tells us in Galatians 1:8
“But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.”
The only gospel we can count on is the gospel of Jesus Christ. It tells us we are saved by grace through faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. Any religion that tells us something or someone else is required for our salvation is a lie.
I love 1 Corinthians 2:2 it reads
“For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.”
Knowing who Jesus is, and why He did what He did for us is so important. Once we know those things we can’t help but share them with others.
In Christ,
Melissa Grimes
