Irrational Perfection & Fake Promises
“Be Ye Therefore Perfect,” Devotional Address, Salt Lake Institute of Religion, 10 Jan. 1975, pg 2; “We made vows, solemn vows, in the heavens before we came to this mortal life. …
We have made covenants. We made them before we accepted our position here on the earth.…
We committed ourselves to our Heavenly Father, that if He would send us to the earth and give us bodies and give to us the priceless opportunities that earth life afforded, we would keep our lives clean and would marry in the holy temple and would rear a family and teach them righteousness. This was a solemn oath, a solemn promise….
You and I made a solemn commitment, made an oath that we would do all things whatsoever the Lord our God shall command us.” – Spencer W. Kimball, LDS President
Psalm 139:13; “For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb.”
While I do enjoy using and reading my KJV Bible I also have to say that the meaning of this verse is easier to understand in the New American (for me anyway). With that in mind here is what this verse says in the New American;
“For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother’s womb.”
And here is what God told Jeremiah regarding the time that He created the prophet;
Jeremiah 1:5; “”Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, And before you were born I consecrated you; I have appointed you a prophet to the nations.”
Remember, only God is immortal, not man. Therefore, it’d be impossible for us to have made promises to get married in a temple, take secret oaths denying Jesus is God and have families.
If the Mormons who made promises in heaven to have babies can’t have babies here on earth are they breaking their promises?
