February 20 – 1 Corinthians 7:6-7 “But I speak this by permission, and not of commandment. 7 For I would that all men were even as I myself. But every man hath his proper gift of God, one after this manner, and another after that.”

If the Apostle Paul said it was okay to be single who are we to question? Clearly, the Mormon Church is wrong in their doctrinal mandate that all should be married. Ask the Mormon how Jesus could feel the pain of being single when they’ve always taught He was married.

October 2015 Conference Notebook; “For Single Adult Members Here is what three speakers said about being single… “Another painful affliction is the circumstance of singleness. Those who suffer this circumstance should remember that our Savior experienced this kind of pain also and that, through His Atonement, He offers the strength to bear it.” —Elder Dallin H. Oaks, “Strengthened by the Atonement of Jesus Christ,” 63.
Let me start by saying, I’m 55 and single; also I’ve never been married. I’m not against marriage, nor is it a matter of not wanting to get married. It just hasn’t happened. If the right guy comes along I would have no problem getting married. I haven’t given up on marriage, nor am I complaining about being single. With that being said…
The circumstances of my singleness is Not a painful affliction. It has afforded me many, many opportunities over the years to serve. I may have never had those opportunities if I were married w/ kids.
No where in the Bible are we commanded by God to be married for time and eternity in a temple, so our husbands can call us from the grave by our temple name; so we can live happily ever after with heavenly father in the celestial kingdom, and make spirit babies…
God uses single people all over the world to serve and share The Gospel (1Corinthians 15:1-4).
Marriage and procreation are used by counter Christian movements to grow, because converts aren’t enough. And I believe the LDS church is having a very hard time not only converting people, but retaining those converts, when they later find out about the temple practices.
Being single is not a curse. I’m not going to lie, I’ve struggled from time to time with it over the years. I used to think “what’s wrong with me?” And God has always assured me He loves me. Not only that, He loves so much that He sent His Son to prove that love. All we need is Jesus, His love is sufficient…We don’t need a spouse, we don’t need marriage we don’t need a temple we don’t need a priesthood. Jesus fufilled ALL of that at the Cross. I look forward to being espoused to Christ. And that will be so much more amazing than being married here in this life. It’s ok to be single.

Every time I see one of these types of quotes I think of the people I know who’ve never been married. I can assure you and everyone reading this blog, your note is spot on!
As I mentioned in a post the other day God’s word asks the question who do I have in heaven but thee? Ps. 73:25 https://lifeafterministry.com/2021/02/4-symbols-of-mormonism-didnt-include-jesus/
Mr. Oaks said what he did because he had nothing else to offer members of the Church and that’s a travesty for them and him as well.
