February 12 — LDS Lies about Ham. Answers to Gospel Questions, vol. 2, p. 176 “It is very possible that Ham received his name due to the fact that he married a black woman. We learn that the names of many individuals in the early years were given them – and often changed – due to incidents which occurred in their lives.
For example, Esau’s name was changed to Edom, and Jacob’s name to Israel, and Abraham was at first known as Abram. It is likely that Ham’s name was changed because he had a black wife, for ham is an adjective in Egyptian for black.” — Joseph Fielding Smith, 1953

Revelation 21:8 “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”

Oh, the tangled web they weave…
Ham’s name wasn’t given to him because he may have married a black woman. Noah named him Ham long before the Bible says anything about Ham being married. Here’s what the Blue letter bible has to say about Ham —
“Genesis 5:32 meaning of the name Ham — warm, hot, and hence the south; also an Egyptian word meaning “black”, the youngest son of Noah (Gen 5:32; Gen 9:22,24). The curse pronounced by Noah against Ham, properly against Canaan his fourth son, was accomplished when the Jews subsequently exterminated the Canaanites.”
The Church likes to take one thing from the Bible and build an entire doctrine on it even when their theories are wrong. As I’ve said many times before, they make it up as they go along…sigh…
Share this info with a Mormon to help them see where the origin of these names came from and please, don’t forget to pray for them!

And when God changed someone’s name, the Bible tells us why. It is about the person and not someone else related to them.
The truth is all there just waiting to be read.
