August 11 — 2004 Priesthood/R.S. Manual – p. 182 “It is not position, it is not education that gives the Spirit of God; but it is keeping the commandments of Almighty God and being lowly in heart and desiring to fulfill the commandments of God in our daily walk and conversation.” — Heber J. Grant
_____
John 14:15-17 “If ye love me, keep my commandments. 16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; 17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.”

So it looks like God gives us His Holy Spirit to reside in us, not us keeping the commandments. If it’s our desire to have Him in us then yes, we will keep the commandments. Our own “worthiness” or works to do so would never qualify us to be in His presence.

Talking with a Mormon on utube. They think the Bible is corrupted, but Smith took passages from the Bible. According to the Mormon he got revelation from God. But the Bible is corrupted cuss men are imperfect. I said the Bible is Gods word and it’s not corrupted. She said why so many denominations?I said Christian’s can agree the Bible is not corrupted. Men are not perfect so why would they believe Smith. Smith was an imperfect man and so are all their so called prophets. I said all I can do is pray for you.
Amen, amen, amen!
