March 31 — Encyclopedia of Mormonism, p. 542 “Modern LDS leaders have emphasized that Jesus’ most challenging experience came in Gethsemane. Speaking in a general conference of the Church in 1982, Marion G. Romney, a member of the First Presidency, observed that Jesus suffered “the pains of all men, which he did, principally, in Gethsemane, the scene of his great agony” (Ensign 12 [May 1982]:6). Church President Ezra Taft Benson wrote that “it was in Gethsemane that Jesus took on Himself the sins of the world….” — Daniel H. Ludlow

Deut. 21:22-23 “And if a man have committed a sin worthy of death, and he be to be put to death, and thou hang him on a tree: 23 His body shall not remain all night upon the tree, but thou shalt in any wise bury him that day; (for he that is hanged is accursed of God;) that thy land be not defiled, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance.”

Galatians 3:13 “Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree”.

God’s perfect Holy Word is replete with scriptures telling us that Jesus died on the cross for our sins. It was prophesied in Deuteronomy, Zechariah 12:10 and Isaiah 53:4-5 just to name a few.
As I’ve said before, if the atonement didn’t take place on the cross then a great portion of both the Old and New Testament needs to be tossed. The apostle Paul said in 1 Cor. 1:18
“For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.”
If you’re LDS, we pray that you’ll look at these examples to see for yourself that Jesus didn’t pay for sins in Gethsemane.
If you’re a Christian, we ask that you share these things with a Mormon you know and also pray for them!
With Love in Christ —
