July 23 — Families are Forever in Godhood Status. Deseret News, 13 Mar. 1897, President Lorenzo Snow taught: “When two Latter-day Saints are united together in marriage, promises are made to them concerning their offspring that reach from eternity to eternity. They are promised that they shall have the power and the right to govern and control and administer salvation and exaltation and glory to their offspring, worlds without end. And what offspring they do not have here, undoubtedly there will be opportunities to have them hereafter. What else could man wish? A man and a woman, in the other life, having celestial bodies, free from sickness and disease, glorified and beautified beyond description, standing in the midst of their posterity, governing and controlling them, administering life, exaltation and glory worlds without end” (Deseret News, 13 Mar. 1897; quoted by Spencer W. Kimball in The Miracle of Forgiveness [1969], 246). LDS Prophet: God Loves Everyone, but Recommended Racist Gospel

ChurchNews.com “President Nelson told listeners to “please listen carefully to what I am about to say. God does not love one race more than
another. His doctrine on this matter is clear. He invites all to come unto Him, ‘black and white, bond and free, male and female’ (2 Nephi 26:33). I assure you that your standing before God is not determined by the color of your skin. Favor or disfavor with God is dependent upon your devotion to God and His commandments, and not the color of your skin.” (more…)
General Conference October 2018 Talk Summaries

Today and tomorrow we’ll be looking at a few of the talks given at the semi-annual LDS General Conference. We’ve chosen the topics based purely at what we thought seemed of greater import. The numbering system we’ve assigned to each doesn’t necessarily indicate the order in which the talk was given, rather, it’s to keep them organized for the articles. We’ve retrieved our info from the Church owned, Deseret News. At the time we gathered our info, the Church hadn’t published the transcripts of each talk.
The first item we’re looking at serves as the poster-child of why my heart will always break for the Mormon people. Although I realize it’s not a talk, it’s noteworthy because of its content. (more…)

Teachings of the Presidents of the Church, Lorenzo Snow “The law of tithing is one the most important ever revealed to man … Through obeying this law the blessings of prosperity and success will be given to the Saints.” – Deseret Evening News, p. 3 June 24, 1899 (more…)

Focus, focus, focus…
An article in the Deseret News the other day left me shaking my head and asking why.
I’m wondering why LDS members believe the propaganda panned out by the Church that absolutely defies logic. The title of the article is self explanatory so I’m going to just pull out a few remarks and highlight them here to see if they line up with what God and a history book says.

Millennial Star, Vol. 15, No. 15, April 9, 1853, pg 226; “The consequence of my opposing the Patriarchal Order of Marriage would be the loss of my husband for all eternity…The great question is this – will we unite with the plurality Order of Ancient Patriarchs, or will we consent voluntarily to be doomed to eternal celibacy?…We cannot be married to our husbands for eternity, without subscribing to the law that admits a plurality of wives.” – Elder Samuel Richards
Thought of the Day about Mormonism and Happiness

I read a report in the Deseret News on September 4, 2013 declaring Salt Lake City the 2nd happiest city in the US. Prevention Magazine attributes the high ranking to the Church’s health code; aka the Word of Wisdom, among other factors.
I find it interesting this report came so quickly on the heels of a report late last week in the same paper stating that suicides in Utah are on the rise and expected to exceed last year’s totals.

Jeremiah 7:17-18; “Seest thou not what they do in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem? 18 The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead their dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto other gods, that they may provoke me to anger.”
