 An activity lesson in a recent LDS Friend Magazine stressed the importance of knowing the true meaning of temples. To read their article in full, see Friend, ‘Your Body is a Temple,’ August 2019 by Dani Jones.

To be sure, I was more than a little surprised at the instructions of having little kids use dice to maneuver around a game board. As I mentioned in an article yesterday, one of the big no-no’s in Mormonism had always been the use of dice and cards. Once again, their rules have evolved to suit their purpose at hand.

Another interesting item came to my attention when one of our faithful readers sent an e-mail last night with a picture of an LDS temple, and a deck of cards depicting different doctrines of their church. Each card had a different marking from Hoyle type playing cards at the top – she mentioned they can be purchased on e-Bay for $6.99. Oh be still my heart…

With their contradictory behavior on that topic behind us, another issue was the brazen lies they’ve burdened these children with. For the sake of brevity we’re looking at just a few of the main things from this lesson. Here we go! (more…)

friend-magazine-mormon July 2016In the upcoming July issue of (the) Friend, a magazine especially written for Mormon children, there’s a game designed to help them learn all they must do to return back to Heavenly Father.

Many of you may be wondering, how they are going to return “back” to God? Well, according to Mormon doctrine all of us lived in a place called the pre-existence. We lived there as spirit children of Heavenly Father before we came to earth, and attained physical bodies. And if we do all we can do, based on Mormon teachings, we can return to Heavenly Father’s presence.
