General Conference, ‘We Bear Witness of Him,’ April 1998; “We can respect other religions and must do so. We must recognize the great good they accomplish. We must teach our children to be tolerant and friendly toward those not of our faith. We can and do work with those of other religions in the defense of those values which have made our civilization great and our society distinctive…” – Gordon B. Hinckley

Mormon Dilemma 961 Obey Prophet’s Revelations

Ensign, “Hear the Prophet’s Voice and Obey,” May 1995, p 15; “I give my testimony that the prophets of this day have the qualities of the prophets of old and the other prophets of this dispensation. Each of these prophets has humbly and prayerfully sought to know and follow God’s will in his personal ministry. We declare with soberness, and yet with the authority of God in us vested, we have a prophet today. The President of the Church, as a prophet, is God’s representative on earth and is appointed to lead His church. Christ is the head of his Church today, just as he was in ancient times. The Lord has said that this is ‘the only true and living church upon the face of the whole earth, with which I, the Lord, am well pleased’ (D&C 1:30).” – Apostle Robert D. Hales

New Testament Resource Manual, pgs 256-258; “John the Revelator ‘saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people’ (Revelation 14:6). That angel has come. His name is Moroni. His is a voice speaking from the dust, bringing another witness of the living reality of the Lord Jesus Christ” (in Conference Report, Sept.–Oct. 1995, 93; or Ensign, Nov. 1995, 70).” – Statement by Gordon B. Ensign, “Great Shall be the Peace of Your Children”, November 2000; “…the piercing of the body for multiple rings in the ears, in the nose, even in the tongue. Can they possibly think that is beautiful? It is a passing fancy, but its effects can be permanent. Some have gone to such extremes that the ring had to be removed by surgery. The First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve have declared that we discourage tattoos and also “the piercing of the body for other than medical purposes.” We do not, however, take any position “on the minimal piercing of the ears by women for one pair of earrings”—one pair.” – Gordon B. Hinckley
Share Your Testimony Challenge

Yesterday (September 12, 2013) the LDS Missionary Facebook page launched a challenge to fellow church members to share their testimony of Jesus Christ. Church members can meet the challenge a couple of ways; one is by making the icon seen here as their profile picture and another is by sharing their testimony of Jesus Christ on the various social media outlets.
I sent this picture and the link to the challenge to a friend this morning. I asked her “if they have a testimony of Jesus Christ, how in the world can they stay Mormon?” Even though my question was rhetorical the answer is very simple. The sad truth is they don’t know Jesus, the real Jesus.

No Criticism for Christianity?
Prophet Gordon B. Hinckley, interview with Richard Ostling, as quoted in Mormon America, pg 323; “We accept that as a statement which came to him [Joseph Smith’s vision in which he was told all other religions were “abominations”], which is printed, of course, and published in his history as a statement. But we go forward with a friendly relationship, with a respect for people everywhere and with an effort to accept them as we meet them and, where opportunity exists, to talk with them and explain to them what we believe…. We don’t criticize them for what they believe. We accept the good that comes of that understanding which they have, but we feel we having something to offer beyond what they have.” – Richard and Joan Ostling
