Luke 2:1-7 “And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed. 2 (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.) 3 And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city. 4 And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:) 5 To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child. 6 And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered. 7 And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.”
Galatians 4:4 “But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law.”

Zechariah 11:12-13a; “And I said unto them, If ye think good, give me my price; and if not, forbear. So they weighed for my price thirty pieces of silver. 13 And the LORD said unto me, Cast it unto the potter: a goodly price that I was prised at of them. And I took the thirty pieces of silver, and cast them to the potter in the house of the LORD.”
Matthew 26:14-15; “Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went unto the chief priests, 15 And said unto them, What will ye give me, and I will deliver him unto you? And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver.”

Has Jesus Removed His Protection for You? Zechariah 11:4-6b; “Thus saith the LORD my God; Feed the flock of the slaughter; 5 Whose possessors slay them, and hold themselves not guilty: and they that sell them say, Blessed be the LORD; for I am rich: and their own shepherds pity them not. 6 For I will no more pity the inhabitants of the land, saith the LORD: but, lo, I will deliver the men every one into his neighbour’s hand, and into the hand of his king: and they shall smite the land, and out of their hand I will not deliver them.”
Luke 19:41-44; “And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it, 42 Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes. 43 For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side, 44 And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.”

Mormons Obligated to Fill Missions Calling

New Era, ‘Questions and Answers,’ February 1971;
“As I pray about a mission, the Lord says to me not to go.
“When should a young man not go on a mission?”
Answer/Elder Gordon B. Hinckley
In the first place a man does not initiate his mission call. In light of this, it is not his prerogative to choose or not to choose to go on a mission. His bishop and stake president recommend him, and he may state his desire to them. The call comes from the President of the Church, and the young man may then accept or reject it.”
Conference Report, October 1974, pp. 116-117; “…One obsession of this Church and all its members is missionary work… …if you receive a call from the Lord through your bishop and stake presidency, it is your privilege, but also your obligation, to fill that calling…Every boy in every country in all the world who has been baptized and received the Holy Ghost will have the responsibility of bearing the message of the gospel to the people of the world.” – Spencer W. Kimball

Matthew 5:9; “Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.”
FIRST PRESIDENCY MESSAGE, ‘The Order and Will of God,’ January 1989
“So many of us are prone to say we forgive, when in fact we are unwilling to forget. If the Lord is willing to forget the sins of the repentant, then why are so many of us inclined to bring up the past again and again? Here is a great lesson we all need to learn. There is no true forgiveness without forgetting.” – Gordon B. Hinckley

D&C 58:42; “Behold, he who has repented of his sins, the same is forgiven, and I, the Lord, remember them no more.”

Gordon B. Hinckley boldly proclaimed none else but God Almighty came down to earth and told Joe Smith all of Christianity was wrong. He also asserted the entire church rests itself on the validity of this ‘glorious first vision’. It’s a dismal outlook on life if this is what the Church is banking on. His claim gives investigators many reasons to reject their church. There’s no less than eleven different versions of the first vision.
Why don’t they set their validity on Jesus?
General Conference, ‘What are People Asking about Us?,’ October 1998; “Our entire case as members of The
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, rests on the validity of this glorious First Vision” (Also see Church News, Oct.
10, 1998, p.17).

What would be the lasting impression people would have of you after you’re gone? With General Conference wrapping up as I type this, I also wondered what some of the LDS prophets said to members at their last General Conference talks.

When all is said and done, if the world is going to be saved, we have to do it. There is no escaping from that.
