Over the next couple of weeks Melissa and I will be posting articles on the latest LDS General Conference so be on the lookout! In the meantime I wanted to highlight a couple of the things I picked up on from comments made by the leadership that once again made me wonder why…
Why do they continue to lie?
I retrieved info from the Herald Extra on October 5, 2014.
Carol F. McConkie –
“In a world threatened by famine of righteousness and spiritual starvation, we have been commanded to sustain the prophet,” Sis. Carol F. McConkie said. “According to the world’s standards, following the prophet may be unpopular, politically incorrect or socially unacceptable. But following the prophet is always right.””
For the record, there have been untold thousands who followed the very words of men like Brigham Young who taught that Adam is God, yet the Church is now back peddling on that divine teaching imparted of the Mormon god.
This is proof that what Ms. McConkie stated is a lie. The LDS prophets aren’t ‘always right’ and following them doesn’t make your choice correct.
Henry Eyring –
“His voice took on strength as he testified of continuing revelation in the church – the prophet receiving revelation for the church; the president receiving for his stake, his mission or his quorum; the bishop for his congregation or ward; and the individual for him or herself.”
Truth: there hasn’t been a revelation given by any LDS prophet since the days of prophet #12 Spencer W. Kimball in 1978 when they accepted blacks into the Church.
This is proof Mr. Eyring lied. Neither Ezra Taft Benson, Howard W. Hunter, Gordon B. Hinckley, nor Thomas S. Monson have received a new revelation from God for the Mormon people. We have a list of Mormon prophets on our site.
Russell M. Nelson –
“…spoke of prophets and how to sustain or show support of their leadership.
“My dear brothers and sisters, if the restoration did anything, it shattered the age-old myth that God had stopped talking to His children,” Nelson said. “A prophet has stood at the head of God’s church in all dispensations, from Adam to the present day.””
Truth: Christians never questioned God’s presence and never paid heed to any myths swirling around that man tried to pass off as truth. All Christians know full well that God speaks to us through His word and His Spirit that resides inside each believer. Furthermore, Adam was not a Christian and there were no Christian churches before Jesus was born.
This is proof that this LDS apostle lied.
Now these are just three short snippets of what LDS leaders had to say this time around so you can just imagine the amount of untruths that were told.
We’re asking that you pray for the Mormons who listened and/or attended this conference that God will open their hearts. We’re praying Mormons will think about statements that were made and they’d question the validity of the Church’s authority and the stories they tried to pass off as truth.
With Love in Christ;
Michelle
