Journal of Discourses 5:179 “The Spirit that is on me this morning is the Spirit of the Lord; it is the Holy Ghost, although some of you may not think that the Holy Ghost is ever cheerful Well, let me tell you, the Holy Ghost is a man; he is one of the sons of our Father and our God; and he is that man that stood next to Jesus Christ, just as I stand by brother Brigham. If brother Brigham goes ahead, and I stand by him, and Daniel stands by me, and the Twelve by us, we never shall be separated — never, no, never.
Men that are engaged in this work and kingdom, if they are one, they will he tied together, that they never will be separated, no more than two drops of water.” — Heber C. Kimball, delivered in the Bowery, Great Salt Lake City, Sunday morning, August 23, 1857.
John 4:24 “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.”
Philippians 4:8 “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”
The other day we posted an article referencing Joseph Smith’s teachings on the Mormon Holy Ghost. Smith clearly taught their HG was a spirit on probation waiting to take a body.
Based on what Heber C. Kimball proclaimed less than two decades later, the Mormon Holy Ghost fulfilled the necessary qualifications for having a body. In light of this we have a few questions…
What did he do to gain a body?
Was there a board of overseers to determine if he fulfilled all the necessary requirements?
When exactly did this happen?
You see, our list of questions isn’t meant to ridicule or belittle members of the Church – far from it!
Our questions stem from the deep concern we have for the Mormon people.
We’ve taken notice over the past 20+ years in ministry that one of the most notable topics we’ve come across is the confusion people have about the Holy Spirit.
Mr. Kimball’s oratory 164 years ago only added fuel to the confusion about the Mormon god. All of this could be prevented, of course, if they had just planted themselves in God’s Holy Word that never changes!
Be sure to share the truth with a Mormon today of how God’s Holy Spirit working inside of you brings comfort and clarity to your life!
With Love in Christ;
Michelle
