1 John 3:1 ‘Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us that we should be called the sons of God.’

pike-place-3-1 Today isn’t the normal Mormon quote of the day. We’re moving out of our comfort zone based on the Lord’s promptings.

My first question today is this –

Remember the day you were saved? Do you recall how dramatically it changed your life? Do you live with that much enthusiasm every day? Do others know about it?

A favorite pastime for our family is visiting Pike Place Market in downtown Seattle. Four city blocks stretching across nine acres, are filled with indoor vendors selling anything from fresh fish and flowers, to fruits and vegetables, and even floor to ceiling teas and spices from all over the world. There’s really no other place like it!

kneel foot cross The Seer, p. 255; “Jesus Christ did not shed His blood to save us in our sins, but to open a way whereby man might obtain forgiveness through Faith, Repentance, and Baptism: and no man can be saved who neglects either of these principles.” – Orson Pratt

Romans 5:8; “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

36793_000_COVER.qxdPreparing to Enter the Holy Temple, pp. 31-32

As one might imagine, the longer a person spends dealing with Mormonism, the more things you’ll find. For me there’s a handful of Mormon books I’ve classified as the worst of the worst, and while the 42 page booklet named above is repulsive, only parts of it would make my list. Today we’re looking at an excerpt in question to show why it doesn’t line up with the word of God!

Conference Report, October 1942, p. 12-13Council-Heaven-Mormon; “PARENTHOOD…Amongst His earliest commands to Adam and Eve, the Lord said: “Multiply and replenish the earth.” He has repeated that command in our day…His people should marry only in His temple in accordance with such ordinances.

The Lord has told us that it is the duty of every husband and wife to obey the command given to Adam to multiply and replenish the earth, so that the legions of choice spirits waiting for their tabernacles of flesh may come here and move forward under God’s great design to become perfect souls, for without these fleshly tabernacles they cannot progress to their God-planned destiny…

By bringing these choice spirits to earth, each father and each mother assume towards the tabernacled spirit and towards the Lord Himself by having taken advantage of the opportunity He offered, an obligation of the most sacred kind…

No parent can escape that obligation and that responsibility, and for the proper meeting thereof, the Lord will hold us to a strict accountability…

Motherhood thus becomes a holy calling, a sacred dedication for carrying out the Lord’s plans…

2 Corinthians 5:8 – We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

350px-Plan_of_SalvationWhile Mormons claim to be Christian they choose to follow many heretical doctrines that defy logic and ignore basic biblical teachings. One these doctrines gives those who have died a second chance at salvation. It’s a customized version of universalism that says every person, good and bad alike will have a chance to redeem themselves through Mormonism when they die. Accepting this religion after they’re dead will guarantee they receive a certain amount of glory and a place in one of the three levels of Heaven. In order to understand what that means, first we need to define salvation according to their doctrines.

Psalm 3:8 – Salvation belongs to the Lord.

The Mormon Church puts a huge burden on the members of the church to help redeem the dead and participate in the work of salvation as they share the Mormon gospel with others not of their faith. This burden is placed on their shoulders at a very young age as they prepare to be baptized and from there prepare to attend the temple as a young man or woman performing baptisms for the dead.

No Polygamy, No Salvation

Deseret News November 14, 1855, pg 2; “If any of you will deny the plurality of wives and continue to do so, I promise that you will be damned…I wish more of our young men would take to themselves wives of the daughters of Zion, and not wait for us old men to take them all; go ahead upon the right principle, young gentlemen, and God bless you for ever and ever and make you fruitful , that we may fill the mountains and then the earth with righteous inhabitants.” – Heber C. Kimball, Comments made on October 6, 1855

I don’t know of any modern-day Mormon teaching that promotes this theory today.
