Mormon Decisions 10Essential Brigham Young, “When I have asked My Counsellors or Any of the Brethren of the Twelve” A Sermon Delivered on 21 May 1877, pg 235; “In my doctrinal teachings I have taught many things not written in any book, ancient or modern, and yet, notwithstanding the many things I have told the people. I have never looked into the Bible, the Book of Mormon, or the Doctrine and Covenants, or any of our church works to see whether they agreed with them or not. When I have spoken by the power of God and the Holy Ghost, it is truth, it is scripture, and I have no fears but that it will agree with all that has been revealed in every particular.”

Brigham’s Words are Scripture

Journal of Discourses 13:95; “I know just as well what to teach this people and just what to say to them and what to do in order to bring them into the celestial kingdom…I have never yet preached a sermon and sent it out to the children of men, that they may not call Scripture. Let me have the privilege of correcting a sermon, and it is as good Scripture as they deserve. The people have the oracles of God continually.” – Brigham Young, Salt Lake City, January 2, 1870
