Brigham Young once said; “How easy it would be for your leaders to lead you to destruction, unless you actually know the mind and will of the Spirit yourselves. That is your privilege. And when you testify in this public congregation, or in your prayer meetings, testifying of the things of God that you know and understand, you are at liberty to speak freely upon those things which you believe.” – Journal of Discourses 4:368, Salt Lake City, June 28, 1857

And likewise his counterpart LDS prophet Joseph F. Smith said, “We talk of obedience, but do we require any man or woman to ignorantly obey the counsels that are given? Do the First Presidency require it? No, never.”Journal of Discourses 16:248, Salt Lake City, October 7, 1873

stickman thinking 3While doing research I came upon the quotes above which gave me pause…

I don’t recall receiving this type of reaction from anyone in the Church when I began openly questioning my heritage.  Do you?  As a matter of fact the more I openly questioned, the more I found myself being pushed away by teachers and fellow Mormons. The sad part about this scenario is that I’ve found I’m not alone.

I received another e-mail this morning from a brand new ex-Mormon Christian who will hopefully be sharing her testimony here soon!  PTL for her salvation!

Personal Revelations from God

You Know Enough, Liahona and New Era, June 2012; “We each have moments of spiritual power, moments of inspiration and revelation. We must sink them deep into the chambers of our souls. As we do, we prepare our spiritual home storage for moments of personal difficulty.” —Neil L. Andersen

John the Apostle; Of the Lost Ten Tribes?

Discourses of the Prophet Joseph Smith, pg. 264-265; “In addition to the spiritual manifestations already mentioned as having occurred at this conference of June 3rd-6th, it should be said that, according to John Whitmer’s History of the Church, ch. v: “The Spirit of the Lord fell upon Joseph in an unusual manner, and he prophesied that John the Revelator was then among the Ten Tribes of Israel who had been led away by Salmanasser, king of Assyria, to prepare them for their return from their long dispersion, to again possess the land of their fathers. He prophesied many more things that I have not written.” (HC 1:176.)”

Holy Ghost Not Essential to Salvation

Doctrines of Salvation 1:39; “I have never troubled myself about the Holy Ghost whether he will sometime have a body or not because it is not in any way essential to my salvation. He is a member of the Godhead, with great power and authority, with a most wonderful mission which must be performed by a spirit. This has satisfied me without delving into mysteries that would be of no particular benefit.” – Joseph Fielding Smith

False Teachings of Mormonism

Mormonism is Leaven to Christian Churches of Today

Teachings of Lorenzo Snow, pg. 16; “Mormonism has acted as a leaven upon other religious faiths. Consciously or unconsciously they have absorbed and utilized it. This is especially manifest in the growth of liberal ideas among the Protestant churches within the last half century. (2 January 1902, MS, 64:22.)”

Apostates

Teachings of Harold B. Lee, pg 298; “Those who apostatize from this church apostatized for one of two reasons—either because they have sinned and lost the faith, or they’re ignorant of the doctrines of the Church. I say, you think about what I have just said. If we, as the Church, expect the family can be ignorant and safe, we expect what never was and never will be”.
