‘They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.’ Lamentations 3:23

General Conference, ‘There was Bread’, October 2020 “As we seek to become temporally prepared, we can face the trials of life with increased confidence. … The Lord does not expect us to do more than we can do, but He does expect us to do what we can do, when we can do it. As President Nelson reminded us in our last general conference, “The Lord loves effort.” …The Lord has declared, ‘It is my purpose to provide for my saints’ [Doctrine and Covenants 104:15]. This revelation is a promise from the Lord that He will provide temporal blessings and open the door of self-reliance. …” — W. Christopher Waddell (more…)

CES Devotional, ‘What Is the Blueprint of Christ’s Church?’, January 2014 “Some years ago my wife and I needed a bigger home… As the home was being constructed, we occasionally submitted to the builder a change order that revised the blueprint. When the home was finally completed, it was in exact conformity with our blueprint as revised from time to time. … In a similar way Christ built a home to best accommodate the spiritual needs of His children. It was called His Church. The spiritual blueprint for this Church can be found in the New Testament. Occasionally the Savior made a “change order” to the blueprint. Such a change order came in the form of a revelation.

For example, the Savior initially commanded His Apostles to preach the gospel to the house of Israel but not to the Gentiles (see Matthew 10:5–6). After the Savior’s Ascension, however, He gave Peter a spiritual change order—a revelation by way of a vision—that the gospel should now be taught also to the Gentiles (see Acts 10). … If one desired to discover Christ’s Church today, he would want to match the spiritual blueprint found in the New Testament against every Christian church in the world…In doing so, he might find some churches that had some similarities—a teaching or two that overlapped, an ordinance that is the same, some offices that bear common names—but he will only find one church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, that matches the blueprint in every material respect.” — Tad R. Callister (more…)

May 23 — You Must ‘Sacrifice’ to Know His Word. Romans 10:8-10 “But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; 9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

May 13 — To Be Intentionally Diligent. Ephesians 6:11-18 “Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. 13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; 15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: 18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.” (more…)

What is Zion? Joseph Smith Lecture Series 1972-1973 “The worst sinners, according to Jesus, are not the harlots and publicans, but the religious leaders with their insistence on  proper dress and grooming, their careful observance of all the rules, their precious concern for status symbols, their strict legality, their pious patriotism…the haircut becomes the test of virtue in a world where Satan deceives and rules by appearance.” — Hugh Nibley (more…)

The Gospel through the Ages 16 “INDIVIDUAL DIFFERENCES … Among the spirits assembled at that great council there were no two exactly alike. Some were more intelligent, more daring, more obedient than others. … …it was but natural for a difference of opinion to develop over the two proposed plans of salvation.

Lucifer vigorously campaigned for his plan, which was in opposition to the original Gospel pattern. His proposition, however, appealed to many of God’s children, especially to the unadventurous ones. For them victory and salvation seemed to be assured if they followed Lucifer.

…the great majority of the progressive spirits…welcomed a world that offered real adventure and constant danger, where they could be agents unto themselves to cooperate with God in a great social scheme of learning and living truth—….” — Milton R. Hunter, 1945 [emp. added] (more…)

Salt Lake Trib, April 26, 2017 “In a 2017 BYU commencement address L. Whitney Clayton, a senior president of the LDS Church’s Quorums of the Seventy … encouraged students to be wary of former church members who have abandoned LDS teachings. …

“The faithless often promote themselves as the wise, who can rescue the rest of us from our naiveté,” Clayton said. “We should disconnect, immediately and completely, from listening to the proselytizing efforts of those who have lost their faith, and instead reconnect promptly with the holy spirit.” (more…)

Today we’re looking at an article from the February 2019 Liahona. What caught my attention was its title; ‘A personal relationship with heavenly father’. It didn’t take long to see the many falsehoods in what the author said, and how his words culminated in a host of lies. My heart breaks for those who will believe this guy because I know people like my mother will worry themselves and think they must not be good enough to experience what this guy told people they can achieve.

To start off with, if you’re new to Mormonism it’d be helpful to know the words used in the title of their article aren’t the standard Mormon way of phrasing things. Complicating things further, for years Mormons were told they could not have a personal relationship with Christ, and then they were told they could.

I was a 6th generation Utah Mormon, and in the 30 years I was a member I never heard the phrase ‘personal relationship’ unless it was referring to a loved one. Having a personal relationship with their heavenly father has been an on again, mostly off again event in the history of Mormonism.

Moreover, there’s a laundry list of rules they must observe when praying to their heavenly father. See Prayer Life of Mormons.

With our brief overview behind us, I’ve pulled some of the comments from Juan Uceda’s article to compare his comments with what our Lord has said in His word. To read the Liahona article in full see Liahona, ‘A Personal Relationship with Our Father in Heaven Through Prayer,’ February 2019 Juan A. Uceda. As an FYI, Mr. Uceda is a member of the Seventy.

General Conference, ‘ Apart, but Still One,’ October 2017 “In the Church, in spite of our differences, the Lord expects us to be one! He said in the Doctrine and Covenants, “Be one; and if ye are not one ye are not mine.” As we all enter a meetinghouse to worship as a group, we should leave behind our differences, including race, social status, political preferences, and academic and professional achievements, and instead concentrate on our common spiritual objectives.” –– Joni L. Deuteronomy 13:1-3 “If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and giveth thee a sign or a wonder, 2 And the sign or the wonder come to pass, whereof he spake unto thee, saying, Let us go after other gods, which thou hast not known, and let us serve them; 3 Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the LORD your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.”

salt lake mormon temple 2We’ve received many e-mails over the years from people (mostly Mormons) asking why we dig up so much past history, and our answer is always the same. We don’t go out of our way searching for sensationalistic material, rather, we do this to inform. Granted, we do have a vested interest in the Church’s activities, and the internet has made it much easier for us while researching the history of the Church.

Today, however, we didn’t need to search around at all for the Church’s false prophecies. While reading through the latest Ensign Magazine, we noticed the Church has no problem in keeping the false prophecies front and center to keep the confusion going.

salt lake mormon temple 2New Era, ‘People on Other Worlds,’ April 1971; “A great many Christians today…have long since abandoned the doctrine that man was created in the image of God. …

Long before our God began his creations, he dwelt on a mortal world like ours, one of the creations that his Father had created for him and his brethren. He, with many of his brethren, was obedient to the principles of the eternal gospel. One among these, it is presumed, was a savior for them, and through him they obtained a resurrection and an exaltation on an eternal, celestial world. 8 Then they gained the power and godhood of their Father and were made heirs of all that he had, continuing his works and creating worlds of their own for their own posterity—the same as their Father had done before, and his Father, and his Father, and on and on.
