escaping the prophetIn case you didn’t know TLC has added yet another polygamy themed show to their lineup, this one is a little different than the ones they’ve shown in the past. The show’s aptly titled Escaping the Prophet.

Instead of showing women embracing the polygamist lifestyle the show’s focused on women wanting to run from it. It follows Flora Jessop and Brandon Jeffs as they reach out and help those seeking refuge from the FLDS community and the bondage this religion has over them.

polygamy1While it seems our focus and posts on topics like polygamy aren’t of much value today, I can personally assure you they are!

Even though polygamy isn’t being openly practiced in mainstream Mormonism there’s still a lot of it around – even in Utah of all places…

Mary Mackert Introduction Letters

Polygamists On June 4, 2008 I had the blessing of having Mary Mackert on our radio outreach program; Way of the Cross.  The programs will air on June 8th and the 15th so be sure to download the podcasts and hear this woman’s incredible story of how God miraculously saved her and four of her five children from a life of polygamy and spiritual death.  It’s another example of God’s mercy on us and His sovereignty!

PolygamistsTonight ABC News did a five minute blurb on the power Warren Jeffs still has on his followers in the Mormon polygamist group, Fundamental Latter-day Saints.

Time hasn’t changed or healed the wounds of the heretical teachings of polygamy and neither has it changed the minds of those who grasp tightly onto its slippery past while they try to maintain some sort of normalcy in an insane ideology.

Warren Jeffs’ End-time Prophecy

From behind prison walls polygamist cult leader Warren Jeffs seems to be up to his old tricks again.

The Deseret News reported yesterday the permanent closing of several stores on Friday in Colorado City, AZ and the sudden reopening of the same stores the following morning. No one knows why they were closed or reopened for that matter. It seems this madman still has a spiritual stronghold over the people and controls everything they do.

Joseph Smith, Polygamy and Under Age Girls

As everyone who reads our blog and site knows, we’ve been following the case of Warren Jeffs who was found guilty of sex crimes against minors and today (August 9, 2011) we saw that he was sentenced to life plus twenty years.

While he may be paying for his crime here on earth right now there’s still another judgment he’ll have to face when he meets his Maker and I’m sure the penalties are much stiffer than we could inflict here.

In light of all this I’ve been asking the same question throughout our updates and articles; what’s the difference between the acts of Warren Jeffs and the acts of Joseph Smith?

Are you aware that Joseph Smith married seven children under the age of 18?

Life Plus 20 Years!!

Utah and Arizona should meet up with the prosecutors of Texas and learn a thing or two of how to prosecute an egregious crime against children.

Today Warren Jeffs received a life sentence plus twenty years for the sexual assault of a child.  Five other men are still awaiting trial for various charges and prosecutors have not ruled out pressing charges against the women who knew of or took part in the atrocities on the YFZ ranch.

Salvation, None Outside of Mormonism

Mormon Doctrine, pg. 138; There is no salvation outside this one true Church, the Church of Jesus Christ. There is one Christ, one Church, one gospel, one plan of salvation, one set of saving ordinances, one group of legal administrators, “One Lord, one faith, one baptism.” (Eph. 4:5.)

Ephesians 4:3-6; Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.  4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;  5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism,  6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

Just in Case You Didn’t Know…

After watching various news reports about Warren Jeffs over the past few months we felt it might help the casual visitor to understand the differences between the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (FLDS) in Eldorado, Texas (also in various towns throughout Utah) and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons) located in Salt Lake City, Utah.

As we begin our week next week Life After Ministries will be paying close attention to the trial going on in Texas against Warren Jeffs, the prophet of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

We’re asking our fellow Christian readers to come alongside us in prayer for those caught in the ugliness of this cult and prayer for the judge, the jury and those who’ve volunteered to take care of the children during the raid.

Most of the kids are back with their parents in the compound but precious light and truth was shared with them while out of the custody of this cult.  Pray this will speak to them in their lives.  We’ll be giving updates to the trial so continue to come back and don’t forget to pray!

With Love in Christ, Michelle Grim

Joseph Smith and Warren Jeffs Compared

On August 29, 2006, Warren Steed Jeffs, prophet of the FLDS Church, was arrested just outside of Las Vegas after being pulled over on a routine traffic stop by the Nevada Highway Patrol.  He had been on the FBI’s Top Ten Most Wanted List since May.

I don’t know how many times since I heard the above news that I have stopped to wonder what must be going through the minds of the followers of the FLDS Church, headquartered on the border of southern Utah and northern Arizona.
