Today we’re looking at a vision Joe Smith claimed he received from the Lord while in a council meeting with many of the Church members present. This vision is supposedly when Smith saw his twelve apostles in the Celestial Kingdom, but there are multiple problems in this passage taken from the History of the Church 2:381. The Second Book of Nephi Chapter 3; “Joseph in Egypt saw the Nephites in vision—He prophesied of Joseph Smith, the latter-day seer; of Moses, who would deliver Israel; and of the coming forth of the Book of Mormon. About 588–570 B.C.”
2 Nephi 3:8-10; “And I will give unto him a commandment that he shall do none other work, save the work which I shall command him. And I will make him great in mine eyes; for he shall do my work. 9 And he shall be great like unto Moses, whom I have said I would raise up unto you, to deliver my people, O house of Israel. 10 And Moses will I raise up, to deliver thy people out of the land of Egypt.”

Mormon Doctrine, p. 438*; “Raphael … an angelic ministrant, a personage who held keys of power during his mortal ministry, returned to earth…and conferred the keys of his dispensation upon Joseph Smith. (D. & C. 128:21.) The Bible contains no mention of Raphael…As to Raphael’s mortal identity we can only speculate. … An inference thus arises that Raphael may be Enoch or some other great prophet from his dispensation.
If this assumption is correct, then the keys restored by Raphael would be those enjoyed by the saints in Enoch’s day including, perhaps, the power whereby men may be translated.” – Bruce R. McConkie

The two false prophecies we’re examining today consists of Smith’s wrong definition for the word ‘Satan’, and the claim he ‘saw Satan fall from heaven’.
False Prophecy #1 – Definition of Satan
Mormon Doctrine, p. 461; “Lucifer; See DEVIL. This name of Satan means literally lightbearer or shining one. It is thus intended to convey a realization of his high status of prominence and authority in pre-existence before his rebellion and fall. (D. & C. 76:25-27; Isa. 14:12-20; Luke 10:18; 2 Ne. 2:17-18.)” – Bruce R. McConkie
Isaiah 14:12-14; “How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! 13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: 14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.”

For he desired of me that he might bring souls unto me, but thou desiredst that thou mightest speedily come unto me in my kingdom. 5 I say unto thee, Peter, this was a good desire; but my beloved has desired that he might do more, or a greater work yet among men than what he has before done. 6 Yea, he has undertaken a greater work; therefore I will make him as flaming fire and a ministering angel; he shall minister for those who shall be heirs of salvation who dwell on the earth. 7 And I will make thee to minister for him and for thy brother James; and unto you three I will give this power and the keys of this ministry until I come. 8 Verily I say unto you, ye shall both have according to your desires, for ye both joy in that which ye have desired.”

…On one occasion while the prophet was waiting for his boots to be repaired by my brother Dimick in Nauvoo he indulged in recounting personal services rendered him by Dimick; he exhibited his gratitude and greatness of soul in this way:
He said, “Now, Dimick, in return for such acts, you may ask of me what you will and it shall be given you, even if it be to the half of my kingdom.”
Dimick told it to me, and said that in thinking what he should ask for, decided he would not ask for anything that would impoverish Joseph, nor would he ask for worldly honors or goods, but made this request:
“Brother Joseph, I want that where you and your father’s house are (having reference to eternity) there I and my father’s house may be also.”
Joseph sat in meditation but a moment, and then said, “Dimick, in the name of Jesus Christ it shall be even as you ask.’” – Yours truly, O. B. Huntington
