Psalms 12:6-7; “The words of the Lord are pure words: As silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. 7 Thou shalt keep them, O Lord, Thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.”

young-womans-journalIn an e-mail I received from Today in Mormon History a couple of days ago, one of their entries noted a false prophecy of Joseph Smith. While that in itself wasn’t anything new, the rest of what is said in the original source, was. (See Young Women’s Journal below.)

I’m quite certain I made the comment awhile back that nothing they say could shock me anymore, but there’s just something about their writings I’m not sure I’ll ever get used to. Today, is case in point.

Haggai 2:6 “For thus saith the Lord of hosts; Yet once, it is a little while, And I will shake the heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and the dry land.” – BC 520, Haggai

Psalm 31:5 “Into thine hand I commit my spirit: Thou hast redeemed me, O Lord God of truth.” – BC 1060, King David

Psalms 69:12 “They that sit in the gate speak against me; and I was the song of the drunkards.” – BC 1015, King David

temple-veil-tornThere are many remarkable items to look at and study when it comes to the temple veil being ripped in two so let’s get right into it! The first thing you’ll want to take note of is how many times this event was prophesied about in the OT. We’ve listed three of those above. They serve as proof of yet more miracles God has done for us. PTL!

One of the coolest items on this topic is found in the gospel of John. In John 19:30, we read Jesus’ declaration, “…It is finished!”

The significance of Jesus’ words mustn’t be glossed over. Someone who is crucified dies of asphyxiation which means they’ve run out of air. Not Jesus. Jesus gave up His life, willingly, which means it wasn’t taken from Him. Another sign He was in control of His own life is found in the fact He was actually talking at the end of His life. Amazingly, His voice could be heard over the trumpets blaring at the same time.

Jesus made the comment ‘it was finished’, signifies two things. Firstly is the fact He said, ‘it is finished’, not ‘I am finished’. Secondly, the term ‘it is finished’ means the debt for sin was wiped out. The Greek word for finished is tetelestai, meaning the debt is taken care of. He became our sin.

Ezekiel 13:6-9 “They have seen vanity and lying divination, saying, The LORD saith: and the LORD hath not sent them: and they have made others to hope that they would confirm the word. 7 Have ye not seen a vain vision, and have ye not spoken a lying divination, whereas ye say, The LORD saith it; albeit I have not spoken? 8 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because ye have spoken vanity, and seen lies, therefore, behold, I am against you, saith the Lord GOD. 9 And mine hand shall be upon the prophets that see vanity, and that divine lies: they shall not be in the assembly of my people, neither shall they be written in the writing of the house of Israel, neither shall they enter into the land of Israel; and ye shall know that I am the Lord GOD.”

false-prophecies-of-mormonism-2 Helaman 14:20 “But behold, as I said unto you concerning another sign, a sign of his death, behold, in that day that he shall suffer death the sun shall be darkened and refuse to give his light unto you; and also the moon and the stars; and there shall be no light upon the face of this land, even from the time that he shall suffer death, for the space of three days, to the time that he shall rise again from the dead.”

Journal of Discourses 6:6; “We say that God himself is a self-existent being. Who told you so? It is correct enough; but how did it get into your heads? Who told you that man did not exist in like manner upon the same principle? Man  does exist upon the same principles. God made a tabernacle and put a spirit into it, and it became a living soul. [Referred to the old Bible.] How does it read in the Hebrew? It does not say in the Hebrew that God created the spirit of man. It says, “God made man out of the earth, and put into him Adam’s spirit, and so became a living body.

The mind or the intelligence which man possesses is coequal with God himself. I know that my testimony is true…” – Joseph Smith, Nauvoo, April 6, 1844

Ensign, “A Treasured Testament,” July 1993, 61; “The details of this miraculous Joseph Smith receiving revelations from Godmethod of translation are still not fully known. Yet we do have a few precious insights. David Whitmer wrote: “Joseph Smith would put the seer stone into a hat, and put his face in the hat, drawing it closely around his face to exclude the light; and in the darkness the spiritual light would shine. A piece of something resembling parchment would appear, and on that appeared the writing. One character at a time would appear, and under it was the interpretation in English. Brother Joseph would read off the English to Oliver Cowdery, who was his principal scribe, and when it was written down and repeated to Brother Joseph to see if it was correct, then it would disappear, and another character with the interpretation would appear. Thus the Book of Mormon was translated by the gift and power of God, and not by any power of man.” (David Whitmer, An Address to All Believers in Christ, Richmond, Mo.: n.p., 1887, p. 12.)” – Russell M. Nelson

Proverbs 24:8; “He that deviseth to do evil shall be called a mischievous person.”

The extent to which these men had to go to explain what transpired is reminiscent of a chocolate stained face kid who tries to convince the store owner he didn’t shoplift a candy bar. Their behind the scenes antics don’t resemble the procedures of biblical scribes that took pain staking efforts, to ensure God’s word was transcribed correctly.

Remember to pray for those who believe this and that they’d start asking themselves some serious questions!

1 Corinthians 15:1-4; “Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures”.

false-prophecies-of-mormonism-2Check out the words of Brigham Young –

Journal of Discourses, 6:280–281; “Every item of doctrine brother Joseph has brought forth had to meet with opposition from the world. We all know that it comes in contact with sectarian influence and every other influence that is not direct from God. … You can understand, from the few remarks I make with regard to the Gospel, that many things which were revealed through Joseph came in contact with our own prejudices: We did not know how to understand them. I refer to myself for an instance. … My traditions were such, that when the Vision came first to me, it was directly contrary and opposed to my former education.” – Brigham Young, Great Salt Lake City, August 29, 1852

Ensign, ‘The Restoration of Major Doctrines through Joseph Smith: The Godhead, Mankind, and the Creation,’ January 1989

The article referenced above is the first in a two part series the Church published in 1989, and today we’re taking a look at a few of things they said about Smith’s ‘restoration’ of original Christianity. The article was written by Donald Q. Cannon, Larry E. Dahl, and John W. Welch.

I pray you hear me out on this because if this submission of the Church isn’t the most important thing they’ve ever published, nothing else qualifies. Ever.

Joseph Smith False Prophecies 3Today we’re looking at some of Joseph Smith’s contradictory prophecies he made during his tenure as prophet which includes the Mormon Canon, and Temple Ceremony contradictions.

In Mormon scriptures, the Church says yes, Adam and Michael are the same personages. In fact, they went so far as to publish and canonize Smith’s revelation about it!

Their website shows Smith received a revelation in Harmony, PA, in August 1830.

D&C 27:11; “And also with Michael, or Adam, the father of all, the prince of all, the ancient of days.”

Galatians 4:4 “But when the time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under law.”

salt lake mormon temple 2Today we’re comparing two different phrases; the ‘fullness of time’, and the ‘meridian of time’. The former comes from God’s word, the latter from the imagination of Joseph Smith.

We want to know why God sent His Son at this exact time, and what impact it had on mankind, then and now.

Let’s take a look at what our Lord says beloved, so we can know more about Him!

There has been more prophecy fulfilled in the last forty-three years upon the face of the earth, than in two thousand years before.”

PillarsIn the world of false religions one shouldn’t be surprised to find reproduced biblical scenes grafted into the false canons, and doctrines of the impersonator. Our example today shows just such an event with Joe Smith using Christian terminology and biblical events in his golden bible.

We’ve listed each time the phrase ‘pillar of fire’ appears in the Bible. Take special notice the only time this took place was when God was leading the Israelites through the wilderness after rescuing them from their Egyptian captors.

Our last biblical reference about fire is found in the book of Acts. Luke shared events of Pentecost when cloven tongues ‘like fire’ sat upon those in attendance as they were filled with God’s Holy Spirit.
