To ensure the Church does its job by confusing people, they sprinkle their list with biblical, and extra-biblical definitions. Sometimes their god is a spirit, and other times he’s an exalted man. John 4:24 “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.”
Numbers 23:19 “God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?”
Alma 31:15 “Holy, holy God; we believe that thou art God, and we believe that thou art holy, and that thou wast a spirit, and that thou art a spirit, and that thou wilt be a spirit forever.”
Doctrine and Covenants 130:22 “The Father has a body of flesh and bones as tangible as man’s; the Son also; but the Holy Ghost has not a body of flesh and bones, but is a personage of Spirit. Were it not so, the Holy Ghost could not dwell in us.” — Joseph Smith, April 1843
Today we’ve listed God’s word first as a reminder the measure of truth comes from God and none else.
If a Mormon were to search for a description of their god, they’re going to find a number of problems. Is their god an exalted man, or a spirit? The Book of Mormon states he’s a spirit, but their founder Joe Smith, said he’s an exalted man. (more…)
