January 9 – The LDS’ Shameful Disregard for Last Supper. Genesis 14:18 “And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God.”

Matthew 26:26-29 “And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body. 27 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it; 28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. 29 But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom.”

May 5 – 1 Cor. 11:22, 29, 34; “What? Have ye not houses to eat and to drink in? or despise ye thechurchofGod, and shame them that have not? What shall I say to you? Shall I praise you in this? I praise you not. For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body. And if any man hunger, let him eat at home…”

January 24 – Child deacons? Aside from the perfect announcement that God came in human flesh to pay the price for sin, the New Testament is mainly about the doctrines of God. In it we find how to conduct ourselves even through the simple structure of church life. 1 Tim. 3:12 says; “let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well”.

FIRST PRESIDENCY MESSAGE, ‘Peace in This Life,’ December 2016

sacrament_1825232-1-lds-orgA cursory glance over the latest ‘First Presidency Message’ would cause anyone to be heartbroken.

The theme this time around was about partaking of the Lord’s Supper.

The image on the left was the central focal point, where they tried selling the story about ‘a promise of personal peace’ that’s available ‘for all of His disciples today’.

The LDS apostle, Henry Eyring, also included oft repeated stories of people receiving this peace even while dying, and how it was made available through ‘priesthood blessings’.

I was left wondering how someone’s story of receiving a ‘priesthood blessing’ would be of benefit to my mother over the holidays. With no disrespect, I have to say, my mother isn’t dying. This devotional message was more about the priesthood of man, than about the eternal priesthood of Jesus!

Ephesians 4:14; “That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

Sacrament 3Mormon Doctrine, p. 183; “Deacons are “appointed to watch over the church, to be standing ministers unto the church.” (D. & C. 84:111.) They are to assist the teachers in all their duties… although they can neither “baptize, administer the sacrament, or lay on hands.” (D. & C. 20:57-60.) Among other things, it is the practice of the Church to assign them to pass the sacrament…Many of their assigned functions are comparable to those performed by the Levites of old. (Doctrines of Salvation, vol. 3, pp. 111-114.)” – Bruce R. McConkie

Mormon Decisions 10Doctrines of Salvation 2:345; VIOLATION OF COVENANT OF SACRAMENT. Again, I have wondered how members of the Church can go to the sacrament service and partake of these emblems, and make these solemn covenants, and then immediately after the close of the meeting go out to some place of amusement, to attend a picture show, a baseball game, or some resort, or to gather at some home to play cards.

When any of these things is done, the guilty person violates this sacred covenant so recently made or renewed. Do they who do this pay so little attention to their obligations that they really do not sense their significance? Or do they think that the Lord in his abundant goodness and mercy will overlook their shortcomings, and do they look upon it as being not a very great sin after all to violate covenants made in this manner? Of course, only those who are guilty are able to answer these questions.

The fact remains, however, that when we indulge in habits of this kind we are covenant breakers guilty of offenses, as taught by Paul, of the most serious kind. Because of these breaches of the commandments, and the violation of covenants thus solemnly taken, many among us are in the same condition as they were in the days of Paul; they are spiritually sick, weak in the faith, and they sleep the spiritual sleep that leads to death. . .” – Joseph Fielding Smith
