“Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: 35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.” Acts 10:34-35

General Conference, ‘The Doctrine of Belonging,’ October 2022 “How blessed we are to see the day that Zion is being established simultaneously on every continent and in our own neighborhoods. As the Prophet Joseph Smith said, the people of God in every age have looked forward with joyful anticipation to this day, and “we are the favored people that God has made choice of to bring about the Latter-day glory.”

Having been given this privilege, we cannot permit any racism, tribal prejudice, or other divisions to exist in the latter-day Church of Christ. … (more…)

‘But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear.’ 1 Peter 3:15

General Conference, ‘Nourishing and Bearing Your Testimony,’ October 2022 “…Do I Know and Understand What a Testimony Is? Your testimony is a most precious possession, often associated with deep spiritual feelings. These feelings are usually communicated quietly and described as a “still small voice.” (more…)

Testimonies of Mormons

“No testimony is more significant to us in our time than the witness of Joseph Smith.” – Robert Hales, Ensign, Nov. 2009, p. 30.

Melissa Grimes and I originally wrote and posted this article in 2011. The reason we’re reposting it today is because it reminded us of a talk given by Paul Johnson at the October 2022 General Conference.

We’ll be looking at what he said in the next few days. For now, you can read the original article below or at Testimonies of Mormons.

If you’ve been around enough Mormons in life you’re sure to have noticed the way they talk about their faith; their testimonies are all the same.  There are a lot of things the Mormons are taught to do and not to do in their daily lives which is a way to control their thoughts and strip their identity as a unique individual away from them.

October 6 –– Simply ask. John 14:14, 16 “If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. 16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever”.

Romans 10:9-10 “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” (more…)

‘Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.’ Ephesians 5:17

In the opening talk at General Conference LDS prophet Russell Nelson urged members to overcome the world. It almost sounds biblical but there’s a problem with Nelson’s remarks.

1 John 5:4 tells us that everyone who believes overcomes the world but Mormonism rejects true Christianity and doesn’t trust the Bible.

‘For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.’

Although Jesus told us not to fear because He overcame the world in John 16:33, Mormonism has disavowed the Jesus of the Bible so they can’t rely upon that either. (more…)

‘For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.’ 1 Corinthians 1:18

Now that conference is in our rearview mirror, we’re taking a look at some of the things LDS leaders announced. We’re beginning our look with one of the last talks which was given by Jeffrey Holland.

What caught my attention about this talk was the subject matter. Mr. Holland decided to explain why they don’t use the cross as a symbol of their faith. His reason was the same thing they’ve said in the past but he said nothing about the Moroni statue or the new Christus statue they proudly emphasized in April 2020 General Conference. (more…)

October 1 –– Mormons Don’t Consider Jesus as Glory of God. Hebrews 1:3 “And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power When He had made purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.” (more…)
