June 2 — LDS: Baptism is Mandatory. The Seer, p. 255 (1854) “Baptism is just as essential to salvation, as Faith and Repentance. — Without being immersed in water no man can enter into the fulness of Celestial glory… But who in this generation have authority to baptize?  Only the Latter-day Saints. Both Catholics and Protestants are nothing less than the “whore of Babylon.” – Orson Pratt (more…)

June 1 — No Forgiveness While in Sins. Ensign, April 2013 “…the Son of Man forgives sins! While this truth is readily accepted by all believers, not so easily acknowledged is the essential companion truth: the Savior forgives sins “upon earth” and not just at the Final Judgment. He does not excuse us in our sins. He does not condone our return to past sins. But when we repent and obey His gospel, He forgives us. (more…)

May 30 — Joseph Smith Greater than Isaiah & Moses. Discourses of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p. 7 “In thirty nations are men and women who look upon him as a greater leader than Moses and a greater prophet than Isaiah; his disciples now number close to a million [the present figure is over 3.5 million]; and already a granite shaft pierces the sky over the place where he was born, and another is in course of erection over the place where he is credited with having received the inspiration for his Book. (John Henry Evans, op. cit., introduction.)” [This is obviously an old stat for the number of Mormons. The publication date was 2010.] (more…)

Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people’s: for this he did once, when he offered up himself. For the law maketh men high priests which have infirmity; but the word of the oath, which was since the law, maketh the Son, who is consecrated for evermore.”

April 4 — Tithing is a Debt Owed. Ensign, ‘Concerning Tithing’, June 1980 “…pay your tithing and be blessed. Tithing is not a free-will offering; it is a debt, payment of which brings great blessings.

A Legal Obligation to the Lord … tithing is a debt which everyone owes to the Lord as rent for using the things that the Lord has made and given to him to use.

I consider the payment of tithing a sound financial investment. To those who pay their tithing, the Lord has said that he will “open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. … (more…)

April 3 — LDS Church Rewrites Joe Smith’s History 1832 — Joseph Smith’s First Vision “…from the age of twelve years to fifteen I pondered many things in my heart concerning the situation of the world of mankind, the contentions and divisions, the wickedness and abominations, and the darkness which pervaded the minds of mankind. My mind became exceedingly distressed, for I became convicted of my sins, and by searching the scriptures I found that mankind did not come unto the Lord but that they had apostatized from the true and living faith, and there was no society or denomination that was built upon the gospel of Jesus Christ as recorded in the New Testament. I felt to mourn for my own sins and for the sins of the world, for I learned in the scriptures that God was the same yesterday, today, and forever, that he was no respecter of persons, for he was God.” [emp. added] (more…)
