Ensign, “The Atonement,” November 1996; “…Paul said, “As in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.” 14 The Atonement of Jesus Christ became the immortal
creation. He volunteered to answer the ends of a law previously transgressed. 15 And by the shedding of His blood, His 16 and our physical bodies could become perfected. They could again function without blood, just as Adam’s and Eve’s did in their paradisiacal form. Paul taught that “flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; … this mortal must put on immortality.” 17…” – Russell M. Nelson

General Conference, “Joseph Smith,” October 2014; “Many of those who dismiss the work of the
Restoration simply do not believe that heavenly beings speak to men on earth. Impossible, they say, that golden plates were delivered by an angel and translated by the power of God. From that disbelief, they quickly reject Joseph’s testimony, and a few unfortunately sink to discrediting the Prophet’s life and slandering his character.

General Conference, “The Key to Spiritual Protection,” October 2013; “Just as chalk can
be removed from a blackboard, with sincere repentance the effects of our transgression can be erased through the Atonement of Jesus Christ. That promise applies in every case.” — Boyd K. Packer

Journal of Discourses 3:207 – 208; “I have taught you that the spirit is pure, when it comes into the tabernacle. The tabernacle is subject to sin, but the spirit is not. A great many think
that the spirits of the children of men, when they enter the tabernacles, are totally depraved; this is a mistake. They are as holy as the angels; the devil has no power to contaminate them, he only contaminated the bodies. When your spirit wishes to worship the Father, and your body is so full of weakness or wickedness, that you feel as though you could not do it, go to and bring your body into subjection; bow the knee and confess that Jesus is the Christ, if it is darker that 10,000 midnights in your minds; say, “I am for the Lord anyhow.” – Brigham Young, Salt Lake City, February 17, 1856

General Conference, ‘The Comforter,’ April 2015; “The burdens His faithful servants must carry in life are made lighter by His Atonement…You have seen such tests in the lives of good people you love. You have felt a desire to help them. There is a reason for your feeling of compassion for them.
You are a covenant member of the Church of Jesus Christ. A great change began in your heart when you came into the Church. You made a covenant, and you received a promise that began changing your very nature…

A few weeks ago I saw an article in the Salt Lake Trib I thought would be an interesting heads-up for our readers.
An op-ed was written by a woman who asked the Church to consider rephrasing part of their essay on plural marriage which included Joseph Smith’s marriage to a 14 year old little girl. In sum, Ms. Kristy Money wanted the Church to insert into the teachings that Joe Smith’s marriage was a mistake. Lo and behold, what do you know? They did!
God Couldn’t Make a World Out of Nothing

Journal of Discourses 13:248; “The origin of life whether human or inferior, must be lodged in some character whom I have not seen! Follow it back, no matter whether it be for six thousand years, six millions, six million millions, or billions of years, the figures and numbers are immaterial, I must have come from some source, my natural philosophy teaches me this. But, leaving the natural philosophy of the child free from false tradition, let us inquire. What does the philosophy of the Christian sects, or many of them, not all, teach? “God made the world in six days, out of nothing!” This is very wrong; no child should be taught any such dogma. God never did make a world out of nothing; He never will, He never can!” — Brigham Young, Salt Lake City, September 25, 1870

I came across an article on Fox News that reported on the 5 people who raised their hands in opposition to sustaining church leadership. It was the first time since the ‘80’s anyone has done this. Reaction from the Church was as you might expect – they just kept putzin’ right along.
When at least 5 people stood to oppose sustaining the highest officers of the Church, other people could be heard shouting at the dissenters.

We gathered a few quotes from the General Conference the LDS Church held this past weekend and wanted to share what we thought were the most newsworthy with you!
Later this week I’ll be publishing an article on an e-mail I received from a dear Christian friend who actually watched the Saturday morning session. She wrote to give me her insights on the main points she picked out. I highly value the insight of those who’ve never been Mormon and like to include their biblical wisdom with Mormons to provide a different perspective.

But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit. And he said unto the, Why are ye troubled? And why do thought arise in your hearts? Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have.”

The Preparing for Exaltation Manual is used in Sunday school classes for 12 to 13 year old kids which provides lessons on how to follow God and receive Mormon salvation.

Journal of Discourses 21:72; “The Lord is the same yesterday, today and forever. This is the cornerstone, it may be said, of our faith. It is upon this foundation we have built; that he is an unchangeable God; that he does not manifest his mind and his will in plainness and simplicity to one people, and hide the same from a succeeding people who are equally faithful. But the great truth has been impressed upon us; […] that God is no respecter of persons, that he is today as he was yesterday and as he ever was, and that he will continue to be the same being as long as time endures or eternity continues.” — George Q. Cannon, Salt Lake City, October 5, 1879

Brother Woodruff, in the course of his remarks, made the assertion that Joseph Smith was the greatest prophet that has ever lived, of whom we have any knowledge, save and except Jesus Christ himself…Today there is not another man, perhaps, who has figured in religion, whose name is so wide-spread among the nations, as that of Joseph Smith.” – Joseph F.
