Today we’re comparing the teachings in the Young Women Manual to what God says in His word! Although the Church rewrote their manuals, they’re still holding tight to their past behavior of not telling the truth.

One of the eight lesson topics in this book (Virtue) is so bad it needs to be exposed for the lie it is. Besides integrating temple endowment vocab into their manual, they also included the ungodly belief God’s greatest power is sex.

Each topic in their manual has specific assignments/projects to complete that can be worked through at the member’s own discretion, and in the order they choose.

The manual’s overview stated that projects/lessons are designed to help prepare them for their future lives as temple worthy married women, with families of their own. It also teaches them how to ‘return and report’ to their leaders of any progress they’ve made. Not only did it remind us of the Scouting Program, the same vocabulary used in their temple endowment ceremonies.

No doubt you noticed it said nothing on how to study the Bible, or learning more about Jesus…

Now for the topic at hand! Here’s what they had to say about the importance of Virtue(more…)

June 20 – Jesus. Is. God. Col. 2:8-9; “Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. For in him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily.”

Today and tomorrow we’re taking a look at some of the egregious lies the Church has passed off as truth to the most vulnerable: the kids.

Today we’re looking at what used to be part of the lesson plan in the LDS Young Women’s Manual. This isn’t something taught a century ago, rather, this is from just 2-3 yrs ago. The young girls subjected to these lies are either still in the system, or they’ve started families of their own by now. We posted an article on the first part of this lesson in 2012.

Please, pray for those who had to listen to this, and believed the outrageous lies! (more…)

Discourses of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p 264

“In addition to the spiritual manifestations already mentioned as having occurred at this conference of June 3rd-6th, it should be said that, according to John Whitmer’s History of the Church, ch. v: “The Spirit of the Lord fell upon Joseph in an unusual manner, and he prophesied that John the Revelator was then among the Ten Tribes of Israel who had been led away by Salmanasser, king of Assyria, to prepare them for their return from their long dispersion, to again possess the land of their fathers. He prophesied many more things that I have not written.” (HC 1:176.)”.

As you read through our LDS reference today, remember to heed Paul’s warning!

“But refuse profane and old wives’ fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness.” — 1 Timothy 4:7

Joseph Smith’s explanation of the Nephite currency is a ruse. Like events in the Hollywood movie ‘National Treasure’, the Book of Mormon sends readers on endless trails of secret meanings, and ‘it might be here’ scenarios. If you look at just one more thing…

Alma 11:4-19 “Now these are the names of the different pieces of their gold, and of their silver, according to their value. And the names are given by the Nephites, for they did not reckon after the manner of the Jews who were at Jerusalem; neither did they measure after the manner of the Jews; but they altered their reckoning and their measure, according to the minds and the circumstances of the people, in every generation, until the reign of the judges, they having been established by king Mosiah.  Today we’re looking at a speech Brigham Young delivered 158 years ago that’s still in effect today. Pray for all Mormons who believe his lies!

Also…

Pray for the Christian ministries with boots on the ground as we speak. Many have made the trip to last ‘Miracle in Manti‘ Pageant. This LDS production has been going on for decades now, but with Mr. Nelson’s directives, they’ve been eliminated.

Many Christians will go with tracts in hand, and witness to the thousands of Mormons who’ve turned this event into their yearly family vacation. Nestled in the hills of Utah, Manti is virtually unknown if not for the yearly pageants. The surrounding communities are swamped with polygamous families still in operation. One of our faithful visitors to this site will be in attendance as well! (Praying for you Melissa B.!)

When Kirk and I visited the pageant years ago, groups of women donned in long skirts and bright pink t-shirts came up to argue the benefits of polygamy. Their t-shirts said, ‘Help stamp out monogamy’. Oh my…

Now for our LDS reference –

Journal of Discourses 7:290 “Should not this thought comfort all people? They will, by-and-by, be a thousand times more thankful for such a man as Joseph Smith, junior, than it is possible for them to be for any earthly good whatever. It is his mission to see that all the children of men in this last dispensation are saved, that can be, through the redemption.

Our LDS reference today has brought me to my knees each time I read it. It came from a book written by Wayne and Leslee Boss, located in the Gospelink Program. You can also buy it online.

Are My Children Going to Make It? Real Help for Teaching the Gospel in the Home [Salt Lake City: Deseret Book Co., 1991], ix, 63-64 “The purpose of this book is to provide parents with ideas about ways to both simply and enjoyably teach their children the gospel.

…The Prophet Joseph said that a prophet is only a prophet when he’s acting as such. How do you know whether the President of the Church is speaking as a prophet or as just a man?

“Son, I’ve found that if you apply two simple tests, you’ll never be deceived. First, the statement will be consistent with what’s taught in the scriptures. Second, the Spirit will bear witness to you that the doctrine is true. You have the right to receive a spiritual witness from the Lord about the truthfulness of any doctrine taught, regardless of the source. These are just two of the safeguards the Lord has prepared against deception.” …

When the prophet of the Lord speaks, children have a right to know that he is speaking for and in behalf of their Heavenly Father. That means that neither parents nor their children should ever find fault with the Lord’s prophet. …

Thus, parents who find fault with their leaders place themselves and their children in a very dangerous position. As Dallin H. Oaks explained, “The primary reason we are commanded to avoid criticism is to preserve our own spiritual well-being, not to protect the person whom we would criticize. (7)”” — R. Wayne Boss and Leslee S. Boss (more…)

The Millennial Harbinger, Vol. 2:93 “This prophet Smith, through his stone spectacles, wrote on the plates of Nephi, in this book of Mormon, every error and almost every truth discussed in New York for the last ten years. He decided all the great controversies;—infant baptism, ordination, the trinity, regeneration, repentance, justification, the fall of man, the atonement, transubstantiation, fasting, penance, church government, religious experience, the call to the ministry, the general resurrection, eternal punishment, who may baptize, and even the question of free masonary, republican government, and the rights of man. All these topics are repeatedly alluded to.” — Alexander Campbell, 1833 (more…)

Trying to nail down the true numbers of how many missionaries the Church has is like the old saying of trying to nail Jell-O to a wall. Their numbers change with the wind, making it impossible to take anything they say seriously.

In January 2015, the LDS Church claimed they had approximately 85,000 missionaries on their rosters. Two months later (March), LDS apostle Jeffrey R. Holland predicted the Church would have a ‘baseline’ of 100,000 Mormon missionaries by 2019 – see Salt Lake Tribune for more info. (more…)

“For they also built them high places, and images, and groves, on every high hill, and under every green tree.” 1 Kings 14:23

The Seer, Vol. 1 and 2, pp. 23-24 “The Gods who dwell in the heavens from which our spirits came, are beings who have been redeemed from the grave in a world which existed before the foundation of this earth was laid.

These Gods being redeemed from the grave with their wives, are immortal and eternal, and will die no more, but they and their wives will be supremely happy. All the endearing ties of conjugal love, which existed in their bosoms when terrestial and fallen beings, are now greatly increased and perfected…” — LDS Apostle Orson Pratt, January 1853 (more…)

Journal of Discourses 14:267 “It is the violation of the natural rights of man that has deluged the earth with blood in all ages. These principles were enunciated also by Joseph Smith, he believed in them, so do we, in the right to think, in the right to speak, in the right to act, in the right to do all things that are right and good and proper, but not in the right to interfere with any other man’s rights, any other man’s religion, any other man’s principles. These are our views. God has planted them in our bosom, they will remain there eternally, for they are principles that dwell in the bosom of God.” — John Taylor, Salt Lake City, December 17, 1871 (more…)
