Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, pg 162; “…An angel of God never has wings. Some will say that they have seen a spirit; that he offered them his hand, but they did not touch it. This is a lie. First, it is contrary to the plan of God; a spirit cannot come but in glory; an angel has flesh and bones; we see not their glory. The devil may appear as an angel of light. Ask God to reveal it; if it be of the devil, he will flee from you; if of God, He will manifest Himself, or make it manifest. The Bible and Another Gospel

In the January 2011 edition of the Ensign I came across an article entitled “The Scriptures Teach and Testify of Jesus Christ”.

What I found interesting in this article is the manipulative way the Church goes about confusing its members. At the onset of this article it says “The main purpose of the scriptures is to testify of Christ, helping us come unto Him and receive eternal life (see John 5:39).”

Book of Mormon Witnesses

When I was a member of the Church I honestly never thought about checking up on the witnesses of the Book of Mormon. I grew up believing that I belonged to “the only true church on the face of the earth” and even though there were teachings about the Church I didn’t agree with, it never occurred to me they didn’t have physical proof for the Book of Mormon.

We’re taking a look at what Joseph Smith said when the angel Moroni came to visit him with the message of the Book of Mormon. This was one of the most startling finds for me personally when I came out of the church. I had already come to the conclusion the Church was wrong, but this rocked my world. It honestly took me a few days to recover spiritually speaking from the truth that I found.

Salvation

In Mormonism there is a general or “unconditional salvation” of all people because God gives “grace alone without obedience to gospel law”. After this general salvation comes the placement of souls. Heaven is comprised of three distinct levels and you earn your way into the various levels by the amount or type of work you’ve done here on earth. These levels are; the Celestial Kingdom, Terrestrial Kingdom and the lowest level of the Telestial Kingdom. To the Mormon you aren’t truly ‘saved’ unless you enter into what they call the Celestial Kingdom and have become a god.
