April 3 — Devoted Disciples in Missiology. Luke 18:31 “Then he took unto him the twelve, and said unto them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished. 32 For he shall be delivered unto the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and spitefully entreated, and spitted on.” (more…)

Journal of Discourses 24:38-45 “…we believe in marriage, we have opened the door in that direction, and we say to the sexes marry; but we close the door in the other direction, and say, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not seduce, defile, prostitute or lead astray innocent beings; if you do, and we had the power, we would punish you. …it was plain to be seen that nothing in that bill [Edmunds Bill] was designed to reach real vice, to strike down immorality; it was a blow at our religious practices.” — George Quayle Cannon, Salt Lake City, Sunday, June 25, 1882 (more…)
NEW LDS PROGRAM REVEALS DESPERATE ATTEMPT TO KEEP MISSIONARIES
Posted in Mormon Newsroom, tagged Dale Renlund, false apostle of Mormonism, LDS Missionaries, new missionary program 2018 on 11/18/2018| Leave a Comment »
“A missionary is someone sent by Jesus Christ just as He was sent by God. The great controlling factor is not the needs of people, but the command of Jesus. The source of our inspiration in our service for God is behind us, not ahead of us. The tendency today is to put the inspiration out in front— to sweep everything together in front of us and make it conform to our definition of success. But in the New Testament the inspiration is put behind us, and is the Lord Jesus Himself. The goal is to be true to Him— to carry out His plans.
Personal attachment to the Lord Jesus and to His perspective is the one thing that must not be overlooked. In missionary work the great danger is that God’s call will be replaced by the needs of the people, to the point that human sympathy for those needs will absolutely overwhelm the meaning of being sent by Jesus. The needs are so enormous, and the conditions so difficult, that every power of the mind falters and fails…” ~ Oswald Chambers, My Utmost for His Highest, ‘What is a Missionary’, October 26
Gone are the days when LDS missionaries were told ‘I’d rather you come home in a casket, than come home early’. In an effort to hold tight to that which isn’t theirs, the Church is throwing out all kinds of ideas to keep the younger generation from leaving the fold.
A new missionary program announced by the LDS Newsroom this week has basically rewritten their definition of what constitutes a missionary. It’s become painfully obvious they’re throwing anything at the wall hoping something will stick… (more…)

Mormonism’s Substandard Scale of Honesty

‘It is better to be divided by truth than to be united in error.’ Adrian Rogers
Our topic today is about an article in the LDS Youth Magazine, Liahona, which came from a devotional talk their apostle Neil Anderson gave at BYU in September 2011. To read the article in full, see link below. Typically whenever we look at an article we use the entire thing, but not today!
Although Mr. Anderson’s article didn’t run any longer than others, its contents goes far beyond the amount of time and space we can allocate to all of it. As a result, we’ve pulled one quote from this thing showing why it falls way short of God’s standards. Here we go!

Being a Mormon

Recently I saw the image to the left on a Mormon Facebook page.
I’ve looked for a link to verify that Mr. Bednar actually made this statement while he was in the Philippians, but haven’t found anything. While we don’t know if he actually said this, or if it’s just the opinion of the creator of the image, it sure gives us some insight into the thinking process of some Mormons.
I’ve added a link under ‘References’ for you to check out the Facebook page for yourselves.
Coming back to the statement in the picture, when I first read it I thought to myself, it’s not hard at all not being a Mormon.

Luke 18:11, 13; “The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. 13 And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.”
Mormon Today, ‘Elder Hales’ Advice on How to End Your Prayer Could Change Your Life’; “When we end our prayers with “Thy will be done,” we are doing what the Savior did in the Garden of Gethsemane, for what we are saying is, “Whatever the test, whatever I’m to learn, I will always love Thee.” – Robert D. General Conference, ‘This Day,’ April 2007; “It is hard to know when we have done enough for the Atonement to change our natures and so qualify us for eternal life. Ensign, ‘THE BOOK OF MORMON: THE GREAT PURVEYOR OF THE SAVIOR’S PEACE,’ January 2008; “Each year, often at Easter and Christmastime, news magazines across the world ask the questions: Who was Jesus Christ? Did He live? Are the writings in the Bible authentic? … Yet we know that the Bible is correct. Mormon declared, “This [the Book of Mormon] is written for the intent that ye may believe that [the Bible]” (Mormon 7:9).” – Neil L. Andersen

“God will always love us, but He cannot save us in our sins. Remember the words of Amulek to Zeezrom that the Savior would not save His people in their sins but from their sins, the reason being that with sin we are unclean and ‘no unclean thing can inherit the kingdom of heaven’ [Alma 11:37] or dwell in God’s presence. … “Repentance, then, is His gift to us, purchased at a very dear price.” – D. Jesus Made Perfect

Today we’re looking at a passage of scripture the Mormon Church has zeroed in on, and made a doctrine from half a line in one verse of scripture. We’ll look at what the Church has taught, and compare it with what the Bible really means when it said, ‘Jesus was made perfect’.
The length of the sermon we’re looking at today was extraordinarily long, therefore, we’ll only be looking at one small subject from Mr. Taylor’s teaching today. We’ll be exploring the rest of it in the near future! If you’d like to read it in full, you can do so by clicking on the link provided within the text below.
Hebrews 2:9-10; “But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man. 10 For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.” [emp. mine]
