Today we’re looking at the Sovereignty of God!
As a Mormon I had never heard of such a thing, and always believed I was in heaven with God and everyone else before the world was created. This for me, was one of the most shocking discoveries when I left Mormonism.
This is why we’re looking at Mr. Ballard’s talk. All the claims he made here are lies.
General Conference, ‘Family Councils,’ Saturday Afternoon Session, April 2, 2016; “Family councils have always been needed. They are, in fact, eternal. We belonged to a family council in the premortal existence, when we lived with our heavenly parents as their spirit children. …

Where Is Wisdom? p. 390; “…Intermarriage between members of these great racial divisions are possible, but the progeny are usually feeble, not long-lived, and of poor physical quality; and no permanent self-propagating, homogeneous races can be generated by such intermarriages. Hence these different classes of mankind amount in effect to a difference in species. … Then as regards language, there is a very important difference…The Negro languages are also simple and not adapted for conveying any but the simplest ideas and thoughts.” – Stephen L Richards, 1955

Key to the Science of Theology, pp. 95-96; “He is an intelligent being, in the image of God, possessing every organ, attribute, sense, sympathy, affection that is possessed by God Himself.
But these are possessed by man, in his rudimental state, in a subordinate sense of the word. Or, in other words, these attributes are in embryo, and are to be gradually developed.
They resemble a bud, a germ, which gradually develops into a bloom and then, by progress, produces the mature fruit after its own kind. The Gift of the Holy Ghost adapts itself to all these organs or attributes.

“Except for a six-and-one-half-year gap, men of the Richards family have served as General Authorities continuously from 1840 to the present.” – D. Michael Quinn, Ensign 1980
Mr. Quinn’s great insight is a shining example of what the Richards
family means to Mormonism, and vice versa. Their identity as a family on a whole, and individually, has been so immersed and wrapped up in Mormonism, it’d be no stretch of the imagination to state they’d be lost without each other. They were, and still are, the ‘who’s who’ of Mormonism.

Sermons and Missionary Services of Melvin J. Ballard, p. 205; “I think the revelations which Jesus Christ gave through the Prophet Joseph Smith concerning motherhood are the greatest
contribution the world has ever received on this subject; for it was, so far as I know, never taught before in the history of the world that not only have we a Father in heaven, but we have a Mother there also. No matter to what heights God has attained or may attain, he does not stand alone; for side by side with him, in all her glory, a glory like unto his, stands a companion, the Mother of his children. For as we have a Father in heaven, so also we have a Mother there, a glorified, exalted, ennobled Mother. That is a startling doctrine, I recognize, to some folk, and yet we ought to be governed by reason in giving consideration to this doctrine which is a revelation from God.” – Bryant S. Hinckley

Journal of Discourses 14:242; “There are no marriages among spirits, no coupling together of the males and females among them; but when they rise from the grave after being tabernacled in
mortal bodies, they have all the functions that are necessary to people worlds. As our Father and God begat us sons and daughters, so will we rise immortal males and females, and beget children and, in our turn, form and create worlds, and send forth our spirit children to inherit those worlds, the same as we were sent here, and thus will the works of God continue, and not only God himself, and His Son Jesus Christ have the power of endless lives, but all of His redeemed offspring.” – Orson Pratt, Salt Lake City, August 20, 1871

A few days ago I was on the Church’s website, and came across a quote at the end of a page made by one of the LDS apostles, Boyd K. Packer. The name of the page was ‘Recent Messages from LDS Prophets and Apostles”.
The standalone quote was very telling, and I’ve been praying it’ll give pause to members of the Church when they come across it. Today we’re looking at a couple of things within the context of what he said.

Brigham Young University Fireside, “The Mystery of Godliness,” 6 January 1985; “6. Whence came the plan of salvation? It is simply the laws and ordinances by obedience to which men may gain eternal life and thus
become as God is and be gods in their own right. Joseph Smith said: “God himself, finding he was in the midst of spirits and glory, because he was more intelligent, saw proper to institute laws whereby the rest could have a privilege to advance like himself. . . . He has power to institute laws to instruct the weaker intelligences, that they may be exalted with himself, so that they might have one glory upon another, and all that knowledge, power, glory, and intelligence, which is requisite in order to save them in the world of spirits” (Teachings, p. 354).” – Bruce R. Brigham Young University Fireside, “The Mystery of Godliness,” 6 January 1985; “He [God] is a holy man and has a body of flesh and bones. It is written: “No unclean thing can dwell . . . in his presence; for, in the language of Adam,
Man of Holiness is his name, and the name of his Only Begotten is the Son of Man, even Jesus Christ” (Moses 6:57). That is, he is Ahman, and the name of his Only Begotten is Son Ahman…He is the Eternal Father, the Father of Spirits. God lives in the family unit and is the Father of Spirits, of spirit men and spirit women, hosts of whom are now being born as mortal beings…” – Bruce R. McConkie, Quorum of the Twelve
Today we’re checking out a speech given by LDS apostle Russell M. Nelson in 2013. I came across this talk while gathering info for a different project, and I just couldn’t let this pass on by. The format today is going to be a bit different, so hang with me and it’ll all make sense!
