LDS Official Declaration 2

Blacks get the priesthood newspaper“…Aware of the promises made by the prophets and presidents of the Church who have preceded us that at some time, in God’s eternal plan, all of our brethren who are worthy may receive the priesthood…He has heard our prayers, and by revelation has confirmed that the long-promised day has come…”

James 1:22, 2:8-9; “But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. 2:8 If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well: 9 But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors.”

James 1:13; “Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man.”

LDS LeadersA few days ago we looked at the Mormon’s version of the first man, Adam. See More LDS Contradictions about Adam, pt. 1. Today we’re finishing that up with a number of LDS quotes made by a variety of LDS leaders from Joe Smith, on down.

The one thing to keep in mind while looking over these quotes is God’s word. What would He want for us to know about Adam, and how does the Christian apply this to their daily walk with Him? Equally important, how do we share what we know with the Mormon people?

Witnessing Tip of the Day May01May 9 – Rejecting the Cross. 2 Corinthians 4:3-4; “But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: 4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.”

And just when you thought they couldn’t possibly come up with more…

LDS LeadersApparently not every Mormon leader was on board with the Adam-god theory. As we’ll see today, Mr. Romney’s understanding of Adam’s identity was no closer to truth than the theories of Brigham Young, or Heber C. Kimball.

Adam is God of All

“On the Potter’s Wheel”, Appendix A, Memorandum Book, H. C. Kimball; “April 30, 1862. The Lord told me that Adam was my father and that he was the God and father of all of the inhabitants of this Earth.” – Stanley B. Kimball, editor

salt lake mormon temple 2Journal of Discourses 23:361-362; “Because he was the head God chose him, and while he was faithful no man could take his place and position. He was faithful, and died faithful. He stands therefore at the head of this dispensation, and will throughout all eternity, and no man can take that power away from him. If any man holds these keys, he holds them subordinate to him. … If we get our salvation we shall have to pass by him; if we enter into our glory it will be through the authority that he has received. We cannot get around him … If we enter into our exaltation, it will be because they, as the servants of God, permit us to pass by, just as the revelation says, ‘pass by the angels and the Gods, which are set there,’ to our exaltation.” – George Q. Cannon, Salt Lake City, October 29, 1882 (more…)

The title of our article today is but a snippet into the minds of early Mormonism and the way they collectively spoke about the body of Christ. The small section from ‘The Women of Mormondom’ gives usWomen of Mormondom a close up look into the minds of those who obeyed Joe Smith and Brigham Young.

This book, written by Eliza Roxcy Snow, is a compilation of early Mormon teachings, some historical data, and interviews of prominent members of the Church, conducted by Ms. Snow. Not only was Eliza the older sister of Mormonism’s 5th prophet/president, Lorenzo Snow, she was also the widow of both Joseph Smith, and Brigham Young, in addition to serving as the 1st LDS Relief Society Secretary under Emma Smith.

This short lesson we’re looking at today gives us a concise, yet comprehensive, understanding on the Church’s teachings about Adam’s role as Michael the Archangel. Additionally, because Mormons can’t do anything without slamming the body of Christ, they couldn’t help but include an unnecessary opinion about Christianity  along with it.

Orson PrattJournal of Discourses 17:225; “Now, if you want to get into darkness, brethren and sisters, begin to oppose this revelation. Sisters, you begin to say before your husbands, or husbands you begin to say before your wives, “I do not believe in the principle of polygamy, and I intend to instruct my children against it.” Oppose it in this way, and teach your children to do the same, and if you do not become as dark as midnight there is no truth in Mormonism.” – Orson Pratt, Salt Lake City, October 7, 1874

Matthew 6:25, 34; “Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? 34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.”

Food storage 4Today there are a few contradictions to look at in the LDS Liahona article below so let’s separate fact from fiction!

Liahona, ‘Questions and Answers,’ March 1983 –

Q. We have been counseled to store a year’s supply of food, clothing, and where possible, fuel. Can you explain what might be regarded as a discrepancy between this counsel and 3 Nephi 13:26? …

There is no discrepancy when the counsel from 3 Nephi 13:26 (“Behold the fowls of the air, for they sow not, neither do they reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them”) or Luke 12:22–34 are considered in context. …

[Voices responded, “Amen.”] And I tell you he will be something more; but we do not now want to give him the name: but he is called and ordained to a far greater station than that, and he is foreordained to take that station, and he has got it; and I am Vice-President, and brother Wells is the Secretary of the Interior—yes, and of all the armies in the flesh.” – Heber C. Mormon Decisions 10The LDS Church teaches there was a complete apostasy of Christianity and the church all but disappeared from the face of the earth. We’re wondering if that means all of the apostles apostatized as well…

How could there be a complete apostasy if the Mormon Church claims there were apostles that never died and are still here roaming the earth?

We’ve written about this before and we’re still waiting for someone from the Church to respond…
