Deuteronomy 13:1-5; “If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and giveth thee a sign or a wonder, 2 And the sign or the wonder come to pass, whereof he spake unto thee, saying, Let us go after other gods, which thou hast not known, and let us serve them; 3 Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the LORD your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul. 4 Ye shall walk after the LORD your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and ye shall serve him, and cleave unto him. 5 And that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams, shall be put to death; because he hath spoken to turn you away from the LORD your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed you out of the house of bondage, to thrust thee out of the way which the LORD thy God commanded thee to walk in. So shalt thou put the evil away from the midst of thee.”
General Conference, ‘Joseph Smith: Prophet to Our Generation,’ October 1981; “Joseph Smith
obtained this ancient record from a heavenly messenger, just as John prophesied. … Also, in harmony with the testimony of John, the book contains “the everlasting gospel.” It is now preached by our missionaries to the world. …A revealing characteristic of a true prophet is that he declares a message from God. …
The ultimate test of a true prophet is that when he speaks in the name of the Lord his words come to pass. That standard was explained by the Lord to Moses in these words:
“When a prophet speaketh in the name of the Lord, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the Lord hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously.” (Deut. 18:22.)
Many prophecies of Joseph Smith are recorded to which this test might be applied…
Joseph Smith was a prophet of the living God, one of the greatest prophets that has ever lived on the earth. He was the instrument in God’s hand in ushering in the present gospel dispensation, the greatest of all, and the last of all in preparation for the second coming of the Master.” – Ezra Taft Benson

Today we’re looking at a couple of e-mails we’ve received on our sites. The first one is in reference to a conversation Melissa’s having with a member of the LDS Church here, on our regular site. The back and forth excuses he keeps trying to employ in his defense reminded me of a very similar e-mail we received a few years back and my response to that young man by the name of ‘Ryan’. The guy Melissa is speaking with is ‘Phil’.

When I came upon the Church’s Easter message, I had to shake my head at the number of inconsistencies they plastered on their website. Today we’re taking a look at what they tried to tell people about Jesus. And for Easter Holy Week of all times…good grief! We’ll be listing each name title they used and define them in a proper manner so there won’t be any confusion!
Take Heed to Yourselves, pp. 190-191; “Every man that teaches holds a great responsibility, and he that teaches error and leads men from the path of truth is committing one of the greatest crimes that it is possible for man to commit. If he, through his teachings, is presenting false doctrine, and leading men astray from that which is eternal truth, away from the kingdom of God, he is taking upon himself a grave responsibility for which he will have to answer at the judgment seat of God. …

February 10 – World’s Debt to Joseph Smith.
Deseret News, June 9, 1880, p. 280;
enemies to hell quickly. Jesus, when he was being crucified suffering the pain of a cruel death, said “Father forgive them for they know not what they do”. I like that prayer much better than the other one. Father forgive them for they know not what they do. They are thy children though in the dark. Thou hast enlightened our minds for which we feel thankful; but, Oh Lord, forgive them and lead them, if thou canst, in the way of life. This is the feeling we ought to have…” – John Taylor (LDS Prophet)
Today we’re looking at an article in the New Era, a monthly publication written to ‘enlighten and educate’ LDS youth.
