New Era, ‘People on Other Worlds,’ April 1971; “A great many Christians today…have long since abandoned the doctrine that man was created in the image of God. …
Long before our God began his creations, he dwelt on a mortal world like ours, one of the creations that his Father had created for him and his brethren. He, with many of his brethren, was obedient to the principles of the eternal gospel. One among these, it is presumed, was a savior for them, and through him they obtained a resurrection and an exaltation on an eternal, celestial world. 8 Then they gained the power and godhood of their Father and were made heirs of all that he had, continuing his works and creating worlds of their own for their own posterity—the same as their Father had done before, and his Father, and his Father, and on and on.

Journal of Discourses 20:211; “God revealed to him (Joseph Smith) not only the fact of Divine existence, but even how he became God;
that it was through living up to correct principles, and by developing within himself every sublime sentiment that had its origin in truth. He taught him how the people “who dwelt on the earth” might also be thus exalted to be angels of God, and finally Gods themselves” – C. W. Stayner, Salt Lake City, May 25th, 1879.
Hinckley’s Lies for the Mormon god

Revelation 21:8; “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”
Teachings of Gordon B. Hinckley, p. 179; “Eternal Progression –The whole design of the gospel is to lead us, onward and upward to greater achievement, even, eventually, to godhood. This great possibility was enunciated by the Prophet Joseph Smith in the King Follet sermon (see Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, pp. 342-62) and emphasized by President Lorenzo Snow. It is this grand and incomparable concept: As God now is, man may become! (See The Teachings of Lorenzo Snow, comp. Clyde J. Williams, Salt Lake City: Bookcraft, 1984, p. 1.)…” – Gordon B. Hinckley
Gordon B. Hinckley was the 15th prophet of the Mormon Church. In the statement above we see Mr. Hinckley’s strong stand on what he believed was true, and what his predecessors believed as well. There’s little room for speculation, or wondering what this church has taught since the beginning of its existence. He clearly had a handle on the Church’s history.
Keep in mind, Mr. Hinckley had been the Church’s PR go-to-guru since the 2nd World War. Through his many campaigns, the Church’s reputation became more widely accepted among mainstream Christianity.
However, when we look at a number of transcripts from radio and television interviews Mr. Hinckley granted over a number of years, we’re left wondering why he’d lie about what he had so strongly declared just a few years prior.

Journal of Discourses 14:242; “There are no marriages among spirits, no coupling together of the males and females among them; but when they rise from the grave after being tabernacled in
mortal bodies, they have all the functions that are necessary to people worlds. As our Father and God begat us sons and daughters, so will we rise immortal males and females, and beget children and, in our turn, form and create worlds, and send forth our spirit children to inherit those worlds, the same as we were sent here, and thus will the works of God continue, and not only God himself, and His Son Jesus Christ have the power of endless lives, but all of His redeemed offspring.” – Orson Pratt, Salt Lake City, August 20, 1871

September 19 – Matthew 17:1-5; “And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart, And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light. And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him. Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias. While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.”

September 18 – John 14:1-3; “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.”

The amazing part of this scripture is what Jesus didn’t say. He said nothing about making homes for us and our ‘family unit’. I cannot imagine thinking that Jesus alone just isn’t enough.

General Conference, April 2015, “Fatherhood—Our Eternal Destiny”; “Should we not … develop a clear vision of our eternal destiny, particularly the one Heavenly Father wants us to achieve—eternal fatherhood? Let our eternal destiny drive all of our decisions. Regardless of how difficult those decisions may be, Father will sustain us. …
Fathers, … every day you are teaching your children what it means to be a father. You are laying a foundation for the next generation. Your sons will learn how to be husbands and fathers by observing the way you fulfill these roles. …

Abraham H. Cannon Journal Excerpts, Vol. XVI, January 7, 1892; “. . . At two o’clock I attended the meeting of my quorum at the President’s office, where all the Presidency were present as well as F. D. Richards, Francis M. Lyman, John W. Taylor and myself; George Gibbs, clerk. The manner of clothing the dead sisters who have had their endowments, was first considered. It was agreed that when the coffin is closed containing the body of a sister who has been through the temple, her veil should be placed so as to hide her face, so that when her husband meets her on the other side he may lift the same from her countenance. This is in accordance with the instructions which President Young gave during his life. The carelessness of the Saints in regard to their Temple clothing was talked about, and it was voted that instructions be sent to each Temple that those who receive the ordinances of the House of God be told especially to be careful not to expose their clothing to the public gaze. This clothing is as sacred as the ordinances themselves.”
