Liahona, ‘Making Your Life a Soul-Stirring Journey of Personal Growth,’ December 2018 “It takes a special kind of faith to “believe that He will yet reveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom,” and then to be ready to accept them, whatever they are. … This isn’t about knowing the names of the twelve tribes of Israel or diagramming the allegory of the olives trees, as useful as such exercises may be. This kind of learning is about changing ourselves, about being different (better) because we know more of what God knows. … …as we learn His will, as we gather light and truth and make it part of us every day, that light will grow in us, “brighter and brighter until the perfect day” (D&C 50:24; emphasis added) when we can be with Him because we will be like Him.” — Jeffrey R. Ensign, ‘We are All Enlisted,’ November 2011 “Number one, Satan, or Lucifer, or the father of lies—call him what you will—is real, the very personification of evil. His motives are in every case malicious, and he convulses at the appearance of redeeming light, at the very thought of truth. Number two, he is eternally opposed to the love of God, the Atonement of Jesus Christ, and the work of peace and salvation. He will fight against these whenever and wherever he can. He knows he will be defeated and cast out in the end, but he is determined to take down with him as many others as he possibly can.” – Jeffrey Holland (more…)

New Era, ‘Thankful This Easter Season,’ April 2018; “Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, suffered, died, and rose from death in order that He could grasp us as we fall, hold us with His might, and through our obedience to His commandments, lift us to eternal life. …

This Easter I thank Him and the Father, who gave Him to us, that Jesus still stands triumphant over death, although He stands on wounded feet. This Easter I thank Him and the Father, who gave Him to us, that He still extends unending grace, although He extends it with pierced palms and scarred wrists. This Easter I thank Him and the Father, who gave Him to us, that we can sing before a sweat-stained garden, a nail-driven cross, and a gloriously empty tomb…” – Jeffrey Holland

Luke 19:41 “And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it”.

LDS Church News, ‘Prophet Visits the Holy Land,’ April 2018; “The reason why prophets are needed is because Heavenly Father wants His children to have the opportunity to come home to Him,”…“God has always dealt with His children on the earth through prophets, but He wants them to choose to come home. So those people who choose to obey the commandments [given through prophets] will have that opportunity to return home with their families in eternal life together,” said President Nelson…

…“This is a legendary land,” Elder Holland said. “It’s a spine-tingling thrill for me to realize that I’m in the company of President Russell M. Nelson, a modern prophet in every sense that they were ancient prophets [in Jerusalem in biblical times] with the same authority and the same priesthood and teaching the same gospel.”

Elder Holland continued, “Our living testimony today is we have a living prophet this very hour on this soil standing in this land teaching that same doctrine.”

LDS Church ‘Retires’ Home and Visiting Teaching

In what the Church referred to as ‘an historic General Conference’, several announcements were made including new apostles, and the ‘retirement’ of the Visiting and Home Teaching programs implemented back in the ‘50’s.

Today we’re looking at the highlights of what leaders said regarding the Home Teaching program, and tomorrow we’ll look at the installment of their new non-white apostles. Woo-hoo! To read the stories in full, see the links at Deseret News and the LDS Church.

A couple of remarks they made warrants serious attention. We pray that if you’re a home, or visiting teacher you’ll stop to think about their choice of words. Here are the highlights –

January 3 –– Mormons help to fulfill God’s prophecies. Psalm 2:1 “WHY do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?”

Acts 4:25-28 “Who by the mouth of thy servant David hast said, Why did the heathen rage, and the people imagine vain things? 26 The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord, and against his Christ. 27 For of a truth against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together, 28 For to do whatsoever thy hand and thy counsel determined before to be done.”

John 21:25; “And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.”

General Conference, ‘Place No More for the Enemy of My Soul,’ April 2010

“Acknowledge that people bound by the chains of true addictions often need more help than self-help, and that may include you. Seek that help and welcome it. Talk to your bishop. Follow his counsel. Ask for a priesthood blessing. Use the Church’s Family Services offerings or seek other suitable professional help. Pray without ceasing. Ask for angels to help you.” – Jeffrey Holland (emphasis mine)

2 Peter 2:1-2 “But there were false prophets also among the people…2 And many shall follow their pernicious ways…”

LDS Leaders Who Admit Church Doctrine Isn't TrueThe past few years has brought change to Mormonism. The one change receiving the most attention is seen when a leader admits some aspect of the Church isn’t true. The problem with their disingenuous attempt at transparency is the ever present habit of lying.

Time and again, the Church has missed the opportunity to throw open wide the doors of total honesty, and walk the highway of holiness as in Isaiah 35:8. They’ve chosen instead to meander down the same path they’re most familiar with; twisted half truths.

Romans 8:38-39; “For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

The following two recent talks given by apostles Russell Ballard, and Jeffrey Holland reveal the deep concern, if not panic, they’re facing when it comes to keeping members in their fold. The first talk was delivered to a group of CES Teachers who were attending a training seminar. (CES = Church Education System)

Wise People Don’t Use the Internet

M. Russell BallardBroadcast, ‘The Opportunities and Responsibilities of CES Teachers in the 21st Century,’ February 26, 2016; “For you to understand the doctrinal and historical content and context of the scriptures and our history, you will need to study from the “best books,” as the Lord directed. The “best books” include the scriptures, the teachings of modern prophets and apostles, and the best LDS scholarship available. …  Teach them [students] about the challenges they face when relying upon the Internet to answer questions of eternal significance. Remind them that James did not say, “If any of you lack wisdom, let him Google!”8

Wise people do not rely on the Internet to diagnose…life-threatening challenges. Instead, they seek out health experts, those trained and licensed…Even then, prudent people seek a second opinion. …When something has the potential to threaten our spiritual life, our most precious family relationships, and our membership in the kingdom, we should find thoughtful and faithful Church leaders to help us.” – M. Russell Ballard

Philippians 3:7-10; “But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. 8 Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, 9 And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: 10 That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death.”

General Conference April 2016 3Yesterday we looked at three of the talks given at General Conference this past weekend, and today we’re taking a look at three others. Oh, how I wish people in this church would open their hearts to the real Jesus of the Bible and here’s why…

That I May Know Him…

Mormonism doesn’t  just break the ties of family members, but they try to subvert any relationship between our sweet Jesus, and mankind as well. For those who aren’t aware, leaving the Church has a high price to pay, and what they do to families is like a train wreck waiting to happen. It’s certainly a hard row to hoe in the beginning, but our Lord always provides by sending mature Christians into our lives, and comfort through His word.

Mormon Decisions 10General Conference, April 2015, “Where Justice, Love, and Mercy Meet”; “I express my gratitude for the Atonement and Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ and acknowledge events in the divine plan of God that led up to and give meaning to the “love Jesus offers [us]”…Jeffrey Holland

We cannot fully comprehend the Atonement and Resurrection of Christ and we will not adequately appreciate the unique purpose of His birth or His death—in other words there is no way to truly celebrate Christmas or Easter—without understanding that there was an actual Adam and Eve who fell from Eden, with all the consequences that fall carried with it. …

Mormon Decisions 10Salt Lake Tribune, March 8, 2015; “The LDS Church expects to have more missionaries than ever in its global proselytizing force by 2019, according to a top Mormon leader.

“We’re projecting out probably within four years,” apostle Jeffrey R. Holland told a radio interviewer, “the base-line number for the missionary force will be something around 100,000.” – Peggy Fletcher Stack

Quick Thought on Mormons and Their Church

In a speech at BYU Jeffery R. Holland said:

“For anyone out there seeking the courage to repent and change, I remind you that the Church is not a monastery for the isolation of perfect people. It is more like a hospital provided for those who wish to get well. Do whatever you have to do to come into the fold and be blessed” (BYU Speeches, May 2, 1997)
