Journal of Discourses 26:279 “Our organization is admitted to be without a parallel; and this through a mere boy.

But the fact is, he was not the author, neither did he ever claim its authorship; he was merely the honored instrument under God to reveal it to and institute it among men. And although the press and the pulpit unite in denouncing him as a crazy fanatic and a vile impostor, his work challenges the admiration of the best thinkers of the age. (more…)

The 12th Annual Conference on the Book of Mormon lands will be held this month in Salt Lake City, Utah. Topics will include “Law of Moses among the Lamanites,” “Is the Book of Mormon Historically ‘True’,” and “The White God of Ancient America.”

One thing I’ve always been fascinated and a little troubled by is the ends Mormons will go to “prove” and convince others the golden plates existed and the events in the Book of Mormon actually happened. When I first joined the Mormon Church in one of my lesson manuals I saw this picture.

In the latest episode of Breaking the Faith the group traveled to Salt Lake City, UT to stay in house a owned by a Mormon woman who helps the FLDS transition to the outside world. While I think it’s great she wants to help the FLDS girls find their way in this new life outside of their religion I can’t help but think it’s a little odd.

2008 Vital Report

 Utah’s Legacy

Before I sent this off to be published I wanted to add a few words, especially for the members of the LDS Church.

You know, as we live this life on earth we learn and grow while encountering things we never thought of before.  Years ago I went about making sure that I brought children into this world because I was convinced it’d get me into heaven.  Now of course I’ve learned this doctrine isn’t true, but more importantly there was one other thing I didn’t think about when having all these kids.  That one thing was growing attached to and feeling compassion for the kids my own children would one day surround themselves with in life.

Greek and Latin Words in the Book of Mormon Part 4

As promised, here are the updated and revised results from our research of Greek & Latin Words in the Book of Mormon.  Our most significant finding is the realization that the more we studied the Book of Mormon; the heavier our hearts became as the list of words became endless.

Our main concern and the reason we did this wasn’t for some vindictive purpose.  It’s motivated out of a deep concern for the Mormon people.  (As a personal side note here – each time I publish anything like this I do it out of the heartache I carry for my own mother.  The Lord has taken that concern for her and expanded it to include all the Mormon people.)
