Worship of Jesus Allowed

Mormon Decisions 102 Nephi 25:29; “And now behold, I say unto you that the right way is to believe in Christ…wherefore ye must bow down before him, and worship him with all your might, mind, and strength, and your whole soul; and if ye do this ye shall in nowise be cast out.”

Worship of Jesus not Allowed

Gospel Truth, 1:135; “We Worship the Father… In an official interpretation of Moses 1:6, the First Presidency (Joseph F. Smith, Anthon H. Lund, And Charles W. Penrose) said: ‘But the sole object of worship, God the eternal Father, stands supreme and alone…’ Who is the sole object of worship?… President George Q. Cannon taught: ‘…We know also that our Father in Heaven should be the object of our worship… He will not have any divided worship. We are commanded to worship Him, and Him only.”

Necromancy 101

Mormon Decisions 10Liahona and Ensign, November 2012; “The keys Elijah restored to Joseph Smith permit our hearts to be bound and each of us linked to those of our ancestors who are waiting for our help. Through our efforts in holy temples here on earth using the authority delegated by the Savior, our progenitors receive the saving ordinances that allow them to enjoy eternal happiness.” —Richard G. Scott, “The Joy of Redeeming the Dead”

Deuteronomy 18:10-11; “There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, 11 Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer.”

Warren Jeffs’ End-time Prophecy

From behind prison walls polygamist cult leader Warren Jeffs seems to be up to his old tricks again.

The Deseret News reported yesterday the permanent closing of several stores on Friday in Colorado City, AZ and the sudden reopening of the same stores the following morning. No one knows why they were closed or reopened for that matter. It seems this madman still has a spiritual stronghold over the people and controls everything they do.

Comoros

The Comoros is a sovereign, archipelago island nation in the Indian Ocean located near the eastern coast of Africa.

As you can see on the map provided it consists of a town called Moroni which serves as the capital of the island nation.

Now what are the odds this is a coincidence?

From what historical records have shown throughout the writings of the Church, while Smith may have only had a third grade education and was horrible at spelling, he did have access to books.

Cumorah, Comoros, Moroni, Moroni…hmmm…I’m not buying into any story that defends Smith on this one.

Archaeology & Book of Mormon

Ray T. Matheny, Mormon scholar and BYU professor of anthropology, letter dated Dec. 17, 1987; While some people chose to make claims for the Book of Mormon through archaeological evidences, to me they are made prematurely, and without sufficient knowledge.  I do not support the books written on this subject including The Messiah in Ancient America, or any other.  I believe that the authors are making cases out of too little evidences and do not adequately address the problems that archaeology and the Book of Mormon present.  I would feel terribly embarrassed if anyone sent a copy of any book written on the subject to the National Museum of Natural History – Smithsonian Institution, or other authority, making claims that cannot as yet be substantiated…. there are very severe problems in this field in trying to make correlations with the scriptures.  Speculation, such as practiced so far by Mormon authors has not given church members credibility.

Abrahamic Covenant

http://www.lds.org  Abraham made covenants with God when he received the gospel, when he was ordained a high priest, and when he entered into celestial marriage. In these covenants, God promised great blessings to Abraham and his family. These blessings, which extend to all of Abraham’s seed, are called the Abrahamic covenant.

Book of Mormon White and Delightsome

2 Nephi 30:6 (after 1981); “And then shall they rejoice; for they shall know that it is a blessing unto them from the hand of God; and their scales of darkness shall begin to fall from their eyes; and many generations shall not pass away among them, save they shall be a pure and a delightsome people.”

Polygamy in 1831 to be kept secret

In Essentials of Church History, pgs. 281-282, you can read how Joseph Smith was commanded by the Lord to keep the “commandment of plural marriage” secret for twelve years.

“This revelation, dated July 12, 1843, also contains the doctrine of plural wives. This doctrine was made known to the Prophet as early as the summer of 1831, and by him was taught to a few others…Secrecy was imposed by the Lord until such time as he saw fit for its introduction. When the Prophet was commanded to practice this principle, he hesitated and deferred taking action for some time…moreover, his own prejudices were in opposition to the doctrine. However, the Lord had commanded and he must act.”

(New) Jerusalem is in Independence, MO

D&C 57:2-5; Wherefore, this is the land of promise, and the place for the city of Zion.  3 And thus saith the Lord your God, if you will receive wisdom here is wisdom. Behold, the place which is now called Independence is the center place; and a spot for the temple is lying westward, upon a lot which is not far from the courthouse.  4 Wherefore, it is wisdom that the land should be purchased by the saints.. Behold, this is wisdom, that they may obtain it for an everlasting inheritance.

Defending Joseph Smith

Thinking back to all the years I was totally devoted to Joseph Smith and then to the years I began questioning reminded me of how ambiguous I was before I accepted the truth.  Leaving Mormonism isn’t easy for anyone.

Many times jobs, homes and families are lost or ripped apart when we follow Jesus exclusively, but the rewards far outweigh the temporal losses and are minute in comparison to what we’ve gained not only eternally, but for the here and now.

The Bible and the Book of Mormon 2

Welcome back to our series!  Just as we did in part one, we’re looking at the claims of the Church and comparing those with what God tells us in His word. This time we’ll be looking at the next section on the LDS site which focuses mainly on the Book of Mormon.  http://www.lds.org/topic/bible/

Plural Marriage

Encyclopedia of Mormonism, pg 1092; “In 1843, one year before his death, the Prophet Joseph Smith dictated a lengthy revelation on the doctrine of marriage for eternity (D&C 132…). This revelation also taught that under certain conditions a man might be authorized to have more than one wife. Though the revelation was first committed to writing on July 12, 1843, considerable evidence suggests that the principle of plural marriage was revealed to Joseph Smith more than a decade before…probably in early 1831.”

Lies about Polygamy

Discourses of the Prophet Joseph Smith, pg 270; “”Do the Mormons believe in having more wives than one?” No, not at the same time. But they believe that if their companion dies, they have a right to marry again. But we do disapprove of the custom, which has gained in the world, and has been practiced among us, to our great mortification, in marrying in five or six weeks, or even in two or three months, after the death of their companion. We believe that due respect ought to be had to the memory of the dead, and the feelings of both friends and children.”

Heavenly Father’s Plan of Salvation for you

Speaking against Polygamy brings Damnation

Journal of Discourses 5:204; “President Heber C. Kimball said in 1855, “The principle of plurality of wives never will be done away” (Deseret News, November 7,1855.) Kimball also said, “You might as well deny Mormonism and turn away from it, as to oppose the plurality of wives. Let the Presidency of this Church, and the Twelve Apostles, and all the authorities unite and say with one voice that they will oppose that doctrine, and the whole of them will be damned”. – Heber C. Kimball, Salt Lake City, October 12, 1856

February 21 – God warns us about false prophets in Deut. 13:6-9; “If thy brother, the son of they mother, or thy son, or thy daughter, or the wife of thy bosom, or thy friend which is as thine own soul, entice thee secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which thou has no known, thou, nor thy father; Namely, of the gods of the people which are round about you, nigh unto thee, or far off from thee, from the one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth; Thou shalt not consent unto him, nor hearken unto him; neither shall thine eye pity him, neither shalt thou spare, neither shalt thou conceal him: But thou shalt surely kill him…”

Christianity; Don’t Contend with Other Faiths

Favorite Quotations from the Collection of Thomas S. Monson, pg 43; “Go in all meekness and sobriety, and preach Jesus Christ and Him crucified; not to contend with others on account of their faith, or systems of religion, but pursue a steady course. This I deliver by way of commandment, and all who observe it not will pull down persecution upon their heads, while those who do shall always be filled with the Holy Ghost; this I pronounce as a prophecy.  Joseph Smith” – Thomas S. Monson

Cain Cursed with no Priesthood, Black Skin & Flat Nose

Journal of Discourses 7:290; “…and the Lord put a mark upon him, which is the flat nose and black skin. Trace mankind down to after the flood, and then another curse is pronounced upon the same race—that they should be the “servant of servants;” and they will be, until that curse is removed…That curse will remain upon them, and they never can hold the Priesthood or share in it until all the other descendants of Adam have received the promises and enjoyed the blessings of the Priesthood and the keys thereof.” – Brigham Young, Salt Lake City, October 9, 1859
