Conference Report, ‘The Coming of Elijah,’ April 1965, p.113  “Unless the family of the righteous are thus sealed together from father to son and from mother to daughter back to Adam and from Adam to Christ and from Jesus Christ to God the Eternal Father, the purpose of earth life has been missed, and life itself has been a waste….

We must be linked to them, and they to their fathers and mothers back to Father Adam and Mother Eve, and they to Jesus Christ, and he to God as his Only Begotten Son in the flesh. Thus to save our own selves and to complete our own salvation, we must have our hearts turned to our fathers, seek out their identities, and perform the work of salvation for them. We will be held accountable for their blood unless we do so.” – Theodore M. Burton ~ Assistant to the Twelve; Quorum of the Seventy (more…)

September 20 – John 7:14-17; “Now about the midst of the feast Jesus went up into the temple, and taught.  And the Jews marvelled, saying, How knoweth this man letters, having never learned?  Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.  If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.” (more…)

1 Corinthians 1:18-20 “For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. 19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. 20 Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?”

Journal of Discourses 21:39 “Salvation, in its largest aspect, consists in the proportion of truth received; men and women only are saved in proportion to the truth which they appropriate. An ignorant man will only obtain the salvation which belongs to the ignorant.” – Henry W. Naisbitt, Salt Lake City, November 23, 1879 (more…)

The following three LDS references show why Mormonism is not a Christian organization. Two of the quotes below are twisted plagiarisms of God’s word, and the third is a brazen contradiction of what Jesus proclaimed during His earthly ministry. (more…)

January 4 –– Jesus, or Joseph – who’s your Messiah? John 4:19-26 “The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet. 20 Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship. 21 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father. 22 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. 23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. 24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. 25 The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things. 26 Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.”

The Visiting Teaching Message for the month of October is titled Enfolding with Love Those Who Stray.

The message encourages those who have loved ones who have left Mormonism to love them and to speak to them kindly, and not speak to them in anger, or harshly. My first thought was, if the Church members need to be reminded to do this, then they have bigger problems than someone leaving the Church.

New Era, ‘Answers to Common Questions,’ March 2015; “Do you ever feel unprepared when people ask you questions about the Church? Here are some suggestions for how you might answer a few frequently asked questions. …

Why do you have other scriptures? Isn’t the Bible enough? …

The Bible gives us much, and other scriptures give us even more. God has revealed His word in the Bible. We believe He has also revealed His word in other scriptures. This doesn’t mean we think any less of the Bible, though. In fact, the other scriptures help us know that the Bible is true by giving us additional witnesses of it. All scriptures are proof that Heavenly Father loves His children and gives them what they need to follow His plan. Additional scriptures help clarify some things that otherwise might be misunderstood or misinterpreted.”

I’ve chosen to write this month’s Visiting Teaching Message on Carol F. McConkie’s General Conference talk titled, ‘The Beauty of Holiness’.

In her talk, she said;

“Holiness is in the striving and the struggle to keep the commandments and to honor the covenants we have made with God. Holiness is making the choices that will keep the Holy Ghost as our guide. Holiness is setting aside our natural tendencies and becoming “a saint through the atonement of Christ the Lord.” “Every moment of [our lives] must be holiness to the Lord.”

1 John 5:14-15; “And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: 15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.”

General Conference, ‘The Soul’s Sincere Desire’, October 2016

It was a sad day earlier this week, and the reason why stems from ‘The Talk of the Week’ the Church posted on its front page of their website.

carol-f-mcconkie-ldsorg-articleLDS Relief Society President, Carol F. McConkie, delivered a speech at General Conference earlier this month titled ‘The Soul’s Sincere Desire’. We’re taking a look at it since they’ve highlighted it in their talk of the week, so here we go! If you’d like to read her speech in its entirety, click on the highlighted link above. For today’s purposes, we’ve simply pulled a few quotes to examine, and see if they’re biblically sound.

“We pray to our Heavenly Father and Him only because He is “God in heaven, who is infinite and eternal, from everlasting to everlasting … , the framer of heaven and earth, and all things which are in them.” As our Creator, He gave commandments that we “should love and serve him, the only living and true God, and that he should be the only being whom [we] should worship.”8

Psalm 42:1-2; “To the chief Musician, Maschil, for the sons of Korah. As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God. 2 My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?”

general_conference_crowd_outside-2015A beloved Christian hymn was modeled after the biblical passage above. I remember finding the passage not long after the day of my salvation and was shocked to see how God could speak the deep inner feelings of my heart. Endearing me even more to it was the discovery someone had made it into a song. The wonders of a Christian life never ends!

These are the things we’re praying will be part of a Mormon’s life!

2 Chronicles 7:14; “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

general-conference-womens-session-line-temple-sept2016 I learned years ago the God of the Bible answers prayers. I first learned this while sitting in a prayer meeting a pastor of mine used to hold on Thursday nights at 7:14 p.m. He based it on 2 Chronicles 7:14, and gave examples of how God had answered not only prayers for the salvation of his loved ones, but prayers of others in the congregation as well.

It was at that time I began applying the same scripture to this ministry.

Matthew 24:24 “For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.”

Richard BushmanWe’re sure it’s obvious to our readers, the Church is finding itself with their backs to the wall. When I began working in ministry with Ed Decker back in ‘94, he and I would pray for the day we’d see the Church imploding on itself. Just reading the history and doctrines of Mormonism, it only stands to reason their deceitful ways couldn’t last forever. As it is for Saints Alive and this ministry today, we now receive more e-mails from those leaving the Church than any other subject matter. PTL!

A couple of days ago we posted a story on how the Church goes out of its way to hide the truth about the Gospel Topics Essays. We retrieved the info from the Mormon Stories podcast site run by John Dehlin. While visiting his Facebook page the same day, I read an interesting post I believe everyone should know about; Mormons and non-Mormons alike.

Witnessing Tip of the Day June 01June 16 – Exalting Oneself. Isaiah 14:13-14; “For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: 14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.”

1000+ Mormon QuotesHere’s part two of the long overdue Worst of the Worst Mormon Quotes. This edition contains roughly 45-50 quotes we’ve seen in the past two years that were outrageously blasphemous.

As I mentioned in our last edition in 2014, I don’t post these things to be sensationalistic. The Church doesn’t need the competition, and quite frankly, that type of thing isn’t my style. Neither am I here to bash the Mormons, whom I consider to be my people. I love them dearly, and it breaks my heart to see the heretical things the leaders say.

1 Corinthians 3:16-17; “Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? 17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.”

2014 Reconstruction Model of Herod's TempleI came across an article in the Ensign Magazine and posting it today for a couple of reasons –

  • It serves as a good visual of a Mormon’s understanding of how God operated after Jesus’ resurrection, and the Holy Spirit came to reside inside the believer.
  • It’s a great tool to use for witnessing!

To me, this article is the entire reason I work in this ministry. Nothing will tear at my heart like the total depravity Mormons find themselves in and then flounder around in the mess they’ve made. Following their prophet while reading the Bible is like trying to put that proverbial square peg in a round hole. The messages they hear are diametrically opposed to each other, and will never meld in a cohesive manner.

As you’ll see, this article is about a man who went through a rough patch in life, and began examining himself. The point to his article was for others to do the same by going through a check-list of sorts.  My response to each point he brought up is in red font.
