October 21 – Matthew 16:16-18; “And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.  And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-jona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.  And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”

October 9 – Birth of polytheism in LDS Church. 1 Corinthians 15:45-47; “And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.  Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual.  The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.”

Acts 20:28-30; “Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood. 29 For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. 30 Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them.”

ZOHAR is our topic for today.

Do you know what it is?

At Joseph Smith’s last General Conference, he delivered his infamous ‘King Follett Discourse’. This of course was the funeral sermon for one of their devoted members, King Follett, who passed away unexpectedly.

After giving the perfunctory condolences like at any funeral, Smith wasted no time introducing his true agenda to the growing group of followers. Polytheism. From that point on the entire belief structure of Mormonism was changed – again. This sermon, delivered on April 7, 1844, was a game changer for all things Mormon as it marched the Saints further down the road of total depravity in their self-induced apostasy.

Journal of Discourses 1:57; “The Son is called God, and so is the Father, and in some places the Holy Ghost is called God. They are one in power, in wisdom, in knowledge, and in the inheritance of celestial glory; they are one in their works; they possess all things, and all things are subject to them; they act in unison; and if one has power to become the Father of spirits, so has another; if one God can propagate his species, and raise up spirits after his own image and likeness, and call them his sons and daughters, so can all other Gods that become like him, do the same thing; consequently, there will be many Fathers, and there will be many families, and many sons and daughters; and they will be the children of those glorified, celestial beings that are counted worthy to be Gods.” – Orson Pratt, Great Salt Lake City, August 29, 1852

June 1 – Mormon salvation means taking God’s place. Is. 43:10-11; “Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen; that ye may know and believe me and understand that I am he; before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour.”

Today we’ll be covering questions 11, and 12 of our ongoing series based on the article, ‘51 questions that might lead you to Mormonism’.

“The word “God” is a title. It’s not the actual name of Christ and it’s not the name of Heavenly Father. So could others like you and I be called using that same title someday if we are faithful children of a being with the title of “God”? (John 10:30-36) (Romans 8:16-17)”

No, others like you, or I, can never be called by that name, it doesn’t matter how faithful we are, no, never.

Today we’ll be covering questions 9 and 10 of our ongoing series based on the article, ‘51 questions that might lead you to Mormonism’.

Why does Paul say that there are lots of gods? (1 Cor 8:5)

In respect to the Word, and reading it in context, I’d like to extend this portion of scripture to verse 6.

1 Corinthians 8:5-6 “For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many,) But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.”

Question 7

“Why do people believe God the Father and Jesus Christ are one being when Christ refers to himself and His Father as two men? (John 8:17-18)”

Isaiah 45:6; “That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside me. I am the LORD, and there is none else.”

Orson PrattToday we’re doing things a little differently – woo-hoo!! The title of this article is a good  example of how LDS doctrines lead people away from the Lord, instead of to Him.

Reality of heaven for a Christian goes something like this: after death a Christian goes to heaven to be with the Lord Jesus, and it’s there they’ll be able to see family and friends who are also saved.

For the Mormon, it’s complicated. After death they’ll expect to go to heaven to be with their spouses, and in the scenario Orson Pratt has proposed, that one couple will begin ‘multiplying their species’. They’ll continue to do this until they’ve given birth to enough children to sufficiently populate an earth like this for the extent of time their planet is in existence.

salt lake mormon temple 2Ensign, ‘Trust In the Lord,’ November 1995; “The Lord’s plan is to exalt you to live with Him and be greatly blessed. The rate at which you qualify is generally set by your capacity to mature, to grow, to love, and to give of yourself. He is preparing you to be a god. You cannot understand fully what that means, yet, He knows.” – Richard G. Scott

salt lake mormon temple 2New Era, ‘People on Other Worlds,’ April 1971; “A great many Christians today…have long since abandoned the doctrine that man was created in the image of God. …

Long before our God began his creations, he dwelt on a mortal world like ours, one of the creations that his Father had created for him and his brethren. He, with many of his brethren, was obedient to the principles of the eternal gospel. One among these, it is presumed, was a savior for them, and through him they obtained a resurrection and an exaltation on an eternal, celestial world. 8 Then they gained the power and godhood of their Father and were made heirs of all that he had, continuing his works and creating worlds of their own for their own posterity—the same as their Father had done before, and his Father, and his Father, and on and on.

He taught him how the people “who dwelt on the earth” might also be thus exalted to be angels of God, and finally Gods themselves” – C. W. Stayner, Salt Lake City, May 25th, 1879.

Revelation 21:8; “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”

gordon-hinkley 2Teachings of Gordon B. Hinckley, p. 179; “Eternal Progression –The whole design of the gospel is to lead us, onward and upward to greater achievement, even, eventually, to godhood. This great possibility was enunciated by the Prophet Joseph Smith in the King Follet sermon (see Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, pp. 342-62) and emphasized by President Lorenzo Snow. It is this grand and incomparable concept: As God now is, man may become! (See The Teachings of Lorenzo Snow, comp. Clyde J. Williams, Salt Lake City: Bookcraft, 1984, p. 1.)…” – Gordon B. Hinckley

Gordon B. Hinckley was the 15th prophet of the Mormon Church. In the statement above we see Mr. Hinckley’s strong stand on what he believed was true, and what his predecessors believed as well. There’s little room for speculation, or wondering what this church has taught since the beginning of its existence. He clearly had a handle on the Church’s history.

Keep in mind, Mr. Hinckley had been the Church’s PR go-to-guru since the 2nd World War. Through his many campaigns, the Church’s reputation became more widely accepted among mainstream Christianity.

However, when we look at a number of transcripts from radio and television interviews Mr. Hinckley granted over a number of years, we’re left wondering why he’d lie about what he had so strongly declared just a few years prior.
