Witnessing Tip of the Day March2March 22 – Who is your Savior? Isaiah 43:10-11; “Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. 11 I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour.”

jesus donkeyPalm Sunday is of course, one of the most important days in all of time. It marks the day when Jesus finally allowed for people to worship Him as King. Up until that day there were numerous times people had tried to label Him as King, but those were done with the intent to do Him harm, and He always said, ‘It is not my time’.

John 6:15; “When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him a king, he departed again into a mountain himself alone.”

John 7:30, 44; “Then they sought to take him: but no man laid hands on him, because his hour was not yet come. 44 And some of them would have taken him; but no man laid hands on him.”

John 8:59; “Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.

John 10:39; “Therefore they sought again to take him: but he escaped out of their hand.”

The timing of His announcement was solely in His hands, for He had come to do His Father’s will, and to fulfill scripture. Because He’s God, He controlled all things. We can see how cool this is when we look back at historical events found in secular writings, and how they’re mentioned in the Bible as well! Check out the following passages –

Witnessing Tip of the Day March2March 21 – Qualifications needed to hold Melchizedek Priesthood. Hebrews 7:1-3, 26; “For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him; 2 To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace; 3 Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually. 26 For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens.”

Key to Theology, pp. 35,Baal and El from the Ugarit 44; “Jesus Christ…was filled with the divine substance or fluid called the Holy Spirit, by which He comprehended and spake the truth in power and authority, and by which He controlled the elements and imparted health and life to those who were prepared to partake of the same…The purest, most refined and subtle of all these substances and the one least understood or even recognized by the less informed among mankind is that substance called the Holy Spirit.” – Parley P. Pratt

Mormon Doctrine2Mormon Doctrine, p. 169; “Christ, acting under the direction of the Father, was and is the Creator of all things. … John 1:1-3; Col. 1:16-17  … That he was aided in the creation of this earth by “many of the noble and great” spirit children of the Father is evident from Abraham’s writings. Unto those superior spirits Christ said: “We will go down, for there is space there, and we will take of these materials, and we will make an earth whereon these may dwell.” (Abra. 3:22-24.) Michael or Adam was one of these. Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Moses, Peter, James, and John, Joseph Smith, and many other “noble and great” ones played a part in the great creative enterprise. (Doctrines of Salvation, vol. 1, pp. 74-75.)” – Bruce R. McConkie

Psalms 46:10 – “Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.”

Masonic symbolsIf you know anything at all about Mormonism, you know the Masonic Lodge is part of the deal. While most members believe Joe Smith used to be involved with it at some level, the majority are unaware of just how deeply entangled he had become before his death.

Moreover, most Mormons aren’t aware they can read Masonic rhetoric right inside the covers of their beloved canon. And because it also goes without saying,  you’ll be sure to find Smith’s contradictory ways in the Mormon canon and his behavior. While the BoM, etc., are filled with admonitions to beware of ‘secret societies’, Smith had no hesitation in joining the ranks of the Masonic Lodge, and even used a key Masonic phrase at the time of his death. See History of the Church 4:551, History of the Church 4:552, History of the Church 6:618.

Witnessing Tip of the Day March2March 17 – The Great Commission. Matthew 28:18-20; “And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. 19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”

Matthew 22:41-42; “While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them 42 Saying, What think ye of Christ? whose son is he? They say unto him, The Son of David.”

Woes to the Scribes and PhariseesAs we’re coming closer to Easter and Holy Week, I’ve been pondering on events in Jerusalem at this time 2,000 years ago. It’s easy to get caught up in my own traditions and lose sight of the long range ideals of the Lord, so to slow down I plop myself into 33 AD.

With that in mind, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the prophetic events of that first Easter, so over the next few weeks we’ll be exploring the significance of several events. We’ll see how they all pointed directly to their fulfillment in just one person, that being Christ Jesus our Lord. The goal is to find out what people at that time thought of Jesus. What were the concerns of different groups like the Pharisees, Sadducees, and Scribes? What about the average Jew living at the time?

Moreover, what about the Mormons of today? What do they think of Christ, and what are their thoughts on the events 2,000 years ago? So here we go!

Witnessing Tip of the Day March2March 16 – Colossians 1:5-6; “For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel; 6 Which is come unto you, as it is in all the world; and bringeth forth fruit, as it doth also in you, since the day ye heard of it, and knew the grace of God in truth.”

Blacks neutral in the pre-existence?  Maybe not…

Sermons and Missionary Services of Melvin J. Ballard, pgs. 247-248; “Now, my brothers and sisters, I would like you to understand that long before we were born into this earth we were tested and tried in our pre-existence, and the fact that of the thousands of children born today, a certain proportion of them went to the Hottentots of South Africa; thousands went to the Chinese mothers; thousands went to Negro mothers; thousands to beautiful white Latter-day Saint mothers: You cannot tell me that the entire group was just designated, marked, to go where they did, that they were men and women of equal opportunities. There are no infant spirits born. They had a being ages before they came into this life. They appear in infant bodies, but they were tested, proven souls. Therefore, I say to you that long before we came into this life all groups and races of men existed as they exist today. Like attracts like.

Witnessing Tip of the Day March2March 15 – True Conversion Involves Repentance. Mark 1:14-15; “…Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, 15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.”

Temple Endowment 1Messages of the First Presidency 4:249-250, October 15, 1911; “The temples are not open to the public. They are for the performance of sacred ordinances, having in view the salvation of the living and the dead. The principal ceremonies are baptisms, endowments, marriages, sealings and adoptions… … The family is the foundation of eternal glory, the nucleus of a kingdom without end. Isaiah 29:15-16; “Woe unto them that seek deep to hide their counsel from the Lord, and their works are in the dark, and they say, Who seeth us? and who knoweth us? 16 Surely your turning of things upside down shall be esteemed as the potter’s clay: for shall the work say of him that made it, He made me not? or shall the thing framed say of him that framed it, He had no understanding?”

Russell NelsonToday we’re checking out a speech given by LDS apostle Russell M. Nelson in 2013. I came across this talk while gathering info for a different project, and I just couldn’t let this pass on by. The format today is going to be a bit different, so hang with me and it’ll all make sense!

Mr. Nelson’s speech contained 22 lies. Ugh. I honestly don’t recall ever seeing this many lies in one talk, which makes it even more frustrating! So what I’ve done is to pull a few of them, listed them below, and at the end of the article you’ll find all 22 of them in order. To read his speech in full, the link is provided in the title of his speech.

We have a lot of questions today, but the main one is this: Does Mormonism fulfill biblical prophecy?

One more thing – it seems whenever we, or rather I, don’t know what to make of the false teachings in Mormonism, the sweet Lord always does. The passage in Isaiah is rather appropriate today!

Heber C KimballToday we’re looking at early Mormonism. As we’ve stated many times before, the reason why we look at this topic is twofold. Not only does it provides insight of what was going on back then, but it helps in understanding the mindset of Mormons today.

The Mormon culture of the 19th century didn’t just stop. It provided the foundation, if you will, for the tradition of Mormonism in the 21st century.
