LDS Newsroom General Conference, Sunday Afternoon Session, April 2021 “Telling listeners that they have been “blessed abundantly” to learn about eternal principles from the Lord’s authorized servants, Elder Bednar invited Latter-day Saints to “learn, live and love principles of righteousness.”

“Only gospel truths can enable us to ‘cheerfully do all things that lie in our power’ to press forward on the covenant path and to ‘see the salvation of God, and for his arm to be revealed,’” Elder Bednar said.”

General Conference, ‘Defending Our Divinely Inspired Constitution’, April 2021 “Because of the many threats that undermine the principles of the Constitution, Latter-day Saints have a unique responsibility to uphold and defend the U.S. Constitution by praying for the Lord to guide and bless all nations and their leaders.

Learn and advocate the principles of the Constitution by seeking out wise and good persons and be knowledgeable citizens.

“No party, platform or individual candidate can satisfy all personal preferences. Each citizen must therefore decide which issues are most important to him or her at any particular time.

Then, members should seek inspiration on how to exercise their influence according to their individual priorities. This process will not be easy.” — Dallin H. Oaks (more…)

General Conference, ‘The Gospel Light of Truth and Love’, April 2021 “Thanks to the commencing of the ongoing Restoration just over 200 years ago, “the gospel light of truth and love” now shines brightly throughout the earth. … Highlighting the rapid growth of the Church, President Russell M. Nelson recently said: “Today, the Lord’s work in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is moving forward at an accelerated pace. The Church will have an unprecedented, unparalleled future.”

As we gather on both sides of the veil, as we make sacrifices to serve and make the temple pivotal in our lives, the Lord is truly building us — He is building His covenant people.” — Alan R. Walker (more…)

‘Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation.’ Isaiah 12:2

General Conference, ‘They Cannot Prevail; We Cannot Fail’, April 2021 “Just going to church once a week is not enough to build upon the rock. Our entire lives should be filled with the gospel of Jesus Christ. The gospel is not part of our life, but our life is actually part of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Think about it. Is that not true? Our mortal life is only part of the whole plan of salvation and exaltation.” — Chi Hong (Sam) Wong (more…)

General Conference, ‘Essential Conversations’, April 2021 “…The Holy Ghost is essential to our children’s testimony of and conversion to Jesus Christ…  Consider the value of family conversations about the gospel of Jesus Christ, essential conversations, that can invite the Spirit. … To do so, we can assist children in recognizing when they are feeling the Spirit and in discerning what actions cause the Spirit to leave…” — Joy D. “Free will carried many a soul to hell, but never a soul to heaven.” Charles Spurgeon

General Conference, ‘Essential Conversations’, April 2021 “There is a uniquely special time in children’s lives when they are protected from Satan’s influence. It is a time when they are innocent and sin free. It is a sacred time for parent and child. Children are to be taught, by word and example, before and after they have “arrived unto the years of accountability before God.” …  As we nurture and prepare our children, we allow for their agency…and we never, ever, give up on them. After all, isn’t this the Lord’s way with each of us?” — Joy D. Jones (more…)

General Conference, ‘Why the Covenant Path’, April 2021 “…there are many who, while not on the covenant path themselves, act in a way that mirrors the choices and contributions of those who are on the path. You might say they reap the blessings of walking a “covenant-consistent” path. What, then, is the difference of the covenant path?

Actually, the difference is uniquely and eternally significant. It includes the nature of our obedience, the character of God’s commitment to us, the divine help we receive, the blessings tied to gathering as a covenant people, and most importantly, our eternal inheritance.” — D. Todd Christofferson [emp. added] (more…)

General Conference, ‘Why the Covenant Path’, April 2021 “On the covenant path we also find the essential blessings of forgiveness and cleansing from sin. This is help that can come only through divine grace, administered by the Holy Ghost. … There is also a weekly gathering of the covenant people to the house of prayer on the Lord’s day, that we may “more fully keep [ourselves] unspotted from the world.” — D. Today’s post is a reminder of what Mr. Nelson declared in 2016.

We originally looked at this right after he made the speech in question.

Fast forward a few years and we see Mr. Nelson is on to other things he deems important like building a lot of new temples, and making sure the Church isn’t referred to as Mormonism. The biggest agenda seems to be reminding people they can have their own revelations as long as they fall in line with his.

Sadly, all those in attendance in that meeting five years ago accepted what he said without question, just as many are doing so today.

Please, pray for these dear people and for Jesus’ intervention! (more…)

Today we’ve pulled a few interesting things from a talk given by LDS apostle, Quentin Cook. To read their article in full see General Conference, ‘Bishops—Shepherds over the Lord’s Flock’, April 2021.

As a summary, Mr. Cook spoke at the priesthood session on the duties of LDS bishops and the role they should have in the lives of those under their care. Below is a list of the quotes followed by what the Lord has said in His word.

First and foremost, however, we mustn’t forget to pray for the salvation of the kids involved, and those bishops as well!

  1. ‘the bishop coordinates the work of salvation and exaltation in the ward’
