May 10 – Only God knows the future. Heb. 11:8, 13; “By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went…These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.”

have lifted thee up out of thine afflictions, and have counseled thee, that thou hast been delivered from all thine enemies, and thou hast been delivered from the powers of Satan and from darkness!” — Joseph Smith, July 1830 [emp. added] (more…)

John 1:45-46; “Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph. 46 And Nathanael said unto him, Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip saith unto him, Come and see.”

Another Look at Book of Mormon and View of the Hebrews Parallels

“If such may have been the fact, that a part of the Ten Tribes came over to America, in the way we have supposed, leaving the cold regions of Assareth behind them in quest of a milder climate, it would be natural to look for tokens of the presence of Jews of some sort, along countries adjacent to the Atlantic. In order to this, we shall here make an extract from an able work: written exclusively on the subject of the Ten Tribes having come from Asia by the way of Bherings Strait, by the Rev. Ethan Smith, Pultney, Vt., who relates as follows:…” – Times and Seasons, “Truth will prevail”, Vol. III. No. 15, CITY OF NAUVOO, ILL. JUNE 1, 1842, No. 51, Joseph Smith
The quote above comes from the Mormon periodical Times and Seasons which Joseph Smith used to post a quote from a book called ‘View of the Hebrews’, authored by the Minister Ethan Smith (no relation).

‘For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.’ 1 Corinthians 1:18
Joseph Smith made an incredible claim about his version of the gospel no one should overlook. We can read his so-called prophecy about the Book of Mormon in his other work, the Doctrine and Covenants.
Doctrine and Covenants 20:9 “Which contains a record of a fallen people, and the fulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles and to the Jews also”.
Today our question is this — (more…)

Fullness of the Gospel; BoM or Doctrine and Covenants?

“And he said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them.” Luke 21:8
With the heavy emphasis of going back to the basics promoted by the Mormon prophet Russell Nelson, we thought it’d be a good reminder for members of the Church to think about whom, or what it is they’re worshiping.
The Church is a poster child for publishing propaganda, and our topic today is a small example of their prolific works.
The following is an updated version of an article we wrote in 2014 ~
“The Fullness of the Gospel” “The Book of Mormon contains the most lucid and complete explanation of the atonement of Christ and therefore clearly qualifies as containing the fulness of the gospel. Of particular importance in explaining the atonement are chapters 2 and 9 of 2 Nephi, Mosiah 15, and chapters 34 and 42 of Alma.” – John A. Tvedtnes [emp. mine] (more…)

November 8 — Trusting in Religion with No Absolutes. Dan. 10:5-6; “Then I lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and behold a certain man clothed in linen, whose loins were girded with fine gold of Uphaz: 6 His body also was like the beryl, and his face as the appearance of lightning, and his eyes as lamps of fire, and his arms and his feet like in colour to polished brass, and the voice of his words like the voice of a multitude.”
Rev. 1:13-16; “And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle. 14 His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire; 15 And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters. 16 And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp two-edged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength.” (more…)

1 Corinthians 15:1-4 “Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures”.
The Book of Mormon is fraught with problems, but today we’re looking at just one issue: contradictions.
This time around the contradictions are concerning how Book of Mormon authors complained about the lack of materials they had available to write their pseudo gospel, while going into great detail of events taking place. Jarom 1:14 Their excuses ranged from the ‘awkwardness of their hands’, to the font size of letters in Reformed Egyptian. (more…)

IS NAACP IGNORING RACISM TO WORK WITH LDS?

Acts 17:26 “And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth…”
Today we’re looking at two events I pray will collide and in doing so, change what we know as Mormonism. Let me explain…
Last week the LDS Church announced they’re making plans to work with the NAACP . You could’ve knocked me over with a feather when I read that one! They have big plans to help achieve education and job goals as they work alongside their new found friends. For more info, see LDS Church and NAACP announce plans for education and employment initiatives.
The second event was also launched last week, this time by my good friends, Lee and Kathy Baker. They’ve set up a campaign for people to sign their petition, Remove the Racist Statements from the Book of Mormon. (more…)
