Mormon Decisions 10General Conference, ‘We Bear Witness of Him,’ April 1998; “We can respect other religions and must do so. We must recognize the great good they accomplish. We must teach our children to be tolerant and friendly toward those not of our faith. We can and do work with those of other religions in the defense of those values which have made our civilization great and our society distinctive…” – Gordon B. Hinckley

2014 Hosea Commentary ScrollHosea 13:14; “I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death: O death, I will be thy plagues; O grave, I will be thy destruction: repentance shall be hid from mine eyes.”

1 Corinthians 15:55-57; “O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? 56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Follow the ProphetA distinguishing mark of the LDS Church is the teaching members must follow, and obey their prophets. This subject matter is one of the reasons I left Mormonism. I began questioning the prophets in 1978 when the Church changed its mind on the race issue. Not being able to question the reasons why, or even ask in-depth questions in Seminary got me into a fair amount of trouble.

Mormon Decisions 10The Government of God, p 110; “But after the flood, in the days of Peleg, the earth was divided.-See Genesis 10:25,-a short history, to be sure, of so great an event; but still it will account for the mighty revolution, which rolled the sea from its own place in the north, and brought it to interpose between different portions of the earth, which were thus parted asunder, and moved into something near their present form; this, together with the earthquakes, revolutions, and commotions which have since taken place, have all contributed to reduce the face of the earth to its present state; while the great curses which have fallen upon different portions, because of the wickedness of men, will account for the stagnant swamps, the sunken lakes, the dead seas, and great deserts.” –  John Taylor

Mormon Decisions 10Wilford Woodruff’s Personal Diary, 4:97; “And if any man mingle his seed with the seed of Cain the only way he could get rid of it or have Salvation would be to come forward and have his head cut off and spill his blood upon the ground – it would also take the life of his children.”

Mormon Decisions 10Journal of Discourses 24:124; “The Gospel is like a little leaven put into a certain portion of meal, and it is working and operating, and the ultimate result will be that the whole lump will be leavened. Not that everybody that is in the world will obey the Gospel; but the Lord will have His own way in manipulating His affairs, and great tribulation will overtake the inhabitants of the earth.” – John Taylor, Salt Lake City, April 8, 1883

The Angel Moroni, on top, is there to announce that the fulness of the everlasting gospel has been restored to earth.

Old-Testament-Gospel-Doctrine-Teachers-Manual-35570000There are a few songs within Mormonism that when sung are meant to give church members a sense of pride and uniqueness about themselves. It might (or might not) be a surprise for you to hear that these songs have little to nothing to do with Jesus Christ, and everything to do with praise and honor to a mortal man, their prophet.

Mormon Decisions 10Journal of Discourses 3:247; “Watch yourselves and think. As I observed, on the evening of the 14th at the social Hall, ‘think brethren, think,’ but do not think so far that you cannot think back again… In the eastern country there was a man who used to go crazy, at times, and then come to his senses again. One of his neighbors asked him what made him go crazy; he replied, ‘I get to thinking, and thinking, until finally I think so far that I am not always able to think back again.’ Can you think too much for the spirit which is put in the tabernacle? You can. Let this intelligent part labor to excess, and it will eventually overcome the tabernacle, the equilibrium will be destroyed, and the whole organization deranged. Many people have deranged themselves by thinking too much.” Brigham Young, Salt Lake City, March 16, 1856

Virginity above Life

Mormon Decisions 10Gospel Standards, p. 55; “There is no true Latter‑day Saint who would not rather bury a son or a daughter than to have him or her lose his or her chastity ‑‑ realizing that chastity is of more value than anything else in all the world.” – Prophet Heber J. Grant

Lack of Scriptural Evidence Proves Jesus was a Polygamist

Mormon Decisions 10Jesus was Married, pg 103; “Without the evidence of ancient papyrus, the conclusiveness of the scriptures, or the light of new revelation, reason alone should convince the mind that Jesus was married. Believing in a Christ who lived a life without the personal feelings of a father toward his children or a husband for his wife, is nearly unimaginable. It requires a perverted Christianity to believe in a god without body, parts, or passions, and it also requires a similar superstition to believe in a lonely, secluded, celibate Christ.”

salt lake mormon temple 2New Era, April 1971, “People on Other Worlds?”; “We are of the race of Gods. We are of his species. God looks like us. We look like him. He has two arms, two legs, a head—indeed, Jesus said, “If ye have seen me, ye have seen the Father.” Obviously, God’s sons and daughters would be of his species, would resemble him. This was one of the basic truths Joseph Smith knew after his vision in 1820. Consequently, people on other worlds would be like us, because we are all his children.”

David Went to Hell & Lost His Kingdom

salt lake mormon temple 2Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, pg 339; “A murderer, for instance, one that sheds innocent blood, cannot have forgiveness. David sought repentance at the hand of God carefully with tears, for the murder of Uriah; but he could only get it through hell: he got a promise that his soul should not be left in hell. Although David was a king, he never did obtain the spirit and power of Elijah and the fullness of the Priesthood; and the Priesthood that he received, and the throne and kingdom of David is to be taken from him and given to another by the name of David in the last days, raised up out of his lineage.”

Prophets of God

Uchtdorf said. “That is why He pleads so earnestly with us through His prophets. Just as we want what is best for our loved ones, Heavenly Father wants what is best for us.”

PolygamistsTonight ABC News did a five minute blurb on the power Warren Jeffs still has on his followers in the Mormon polygamist group, Fundamental Latter-day Saints.

Time hasn’t changed or healed the wounds of the heretical teachings of polygamy and neither has it changed the minds of those who grasp tightly onto its slippery past while they try to maintain some sort of normalcy in an insane ideology.

Not Sure How Jesus Atoned for Sin

“Singing the Song of Redeeming Love,” Ensign, Mar. 1993, p. 58; “We don’t know exactly how Jesus accomplished the Atonement. We only know that somehow during the course of the excruciating and agonizing hours in the Garden of Gethsemane and on the cross, he became our Redeemer.”Joseph Walker
