General Conference, ‘The Marvelous Foundation of Our Faith,’ October 2002

“…They came, both of Them, that Joseph saw Them in Their resplendent glory, that They spoke to him and that he heard and recorded Their words—of these remarkable things we testify.
I knew a so-called intellectual who said the Church was trapped by its history.
My response was that without that history we have nothing.
The truth of that unique, singular, and remarkable event is the pivotal substance of our faith.  But this glorious vision was but the beginning of a series of manifestations that constitute the early history of this work.
As if that vision were not enough to certify to the personality and the reality of the Redeemer of mankind, there followed the coming forth of the Book of Mormon. Here is something that a man could hold in his hands, could “heft,” as it were. He could read it. He could pray about it, for it contained a promise that the Holy Ghost would declare its truth if that witness were sought in prayer….” – Gordon B. Hinckley [emp. mine]

‘Sin is not just breaking God’s laws; it is breaking His heart.’ – Adrian Rogers

Journals1A distinguishing mark of Mormonism is found in its infrastructure. Referring to itself as a corporation, it’s steeped in nepotism, and runs like a well oiled machine operating from the top down, think pyramid.

Members are assigned tasks, known as ‘callings’, and will fulfill their respective role until their phone rings with another position. If they’re part of the upper echelon, they’ll serve in that capacity the remainder of their life.

Mormons believe the prophet of the Church is the sole mouthpiece for God. No one else on earth can speak for God to direct the Church, and no one else is given revelations from God to move the Church in a different direction.

November 26 – Romans 14:17-20; “For the kingdomof Godis not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. For he that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable to God, and approved of men. Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another. For meat destroy not the work of God. All things indeed are pure; but it is evil for that man who eateth with offence.”

polygamy1The LDS Church has a few things in common with a rather obscure creature from the animal world; the chameleon.

The chameleon can change colors to blend in, and they’re usually solitary creatures unless they’re seen with a group of other female chameleons.

Joseph F. SmithToday we’re looking at the never ending lies about polygamy published by the LDS Church. They just can’t seem to be honest when it comes to this topic! The lies about polygamy began with Joe Smith way back in 1834, and as you’ll see today, Hyrum Smith’s son is doing the exact same thing 80  years later. As they say, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree…

This first presidency message was written by Joseph F. Smith, and appeared in the Deseret News, and the London Times May 1st & May 6th, 1911.

Lyman many times has declared, and he had reason to declare, I believe, that if we save one-half of the Latter-day Saints, that is, with an exaltation in the celestial kingdom of God, we will be doing well…

Cross of Jesus1If you run a search on the internet for the characteristics of true Christianity, you’ll find a plethora of opinions! One recurring theme I kept seeing is a list of four main characteristics the majority of the body of Christ agrees upon, thus identifying them as a traditional (‘orthodox’) Christian.

It should come as no surprise the LDS Church has rejected all four. Its adherents quickly adopted Joseph Smith’s dogma without the blink of an eye, and regrettably, have done so ever since. Here are the four characteristics –

LDSWhat the Church Teaches about the Bible in 2016

“…In 1979, after years of careful work under the direction of the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve, the Church salt lake mormon temple 2published a Latter-day Saint edition of the Bible. This edition of the Bible has the same text as the King James Version, but it includes special study aids, such as the Topical Guide, the Bible Dictionary, and footnotes referring to passages in other books of scripture and to excerpts from Joseph Smith’s translation of the Bible….

Genealogy Conference PanelToday we’re looking at the definition of worship in three different settings. The reason for this stems from the repeated articles on LDS websites directing members to be diligent in their temple work. Two examples can be seen in the seminars they hold, and directives telling bishops to install teenagers as ‘family history consultants’ for their local wards – see Church News February 2015.

Dictionary.com defines worship as ‘reverent honor and homage paid to God or a sacred personage’. Keep that in mind as we look at our examples today.

Nepotism in the Mormon ChurchIt’s been said that looking at pictures of the General Authorities in Mormonism is like looking at family reunion photos – not your family mind you, but of a family you probably don’t belong to. As time has waned on over the years, not much has changed in the Church’s selection of who’s next to fill the shoes of those in charge.

It’s a well known fact that if you’re not born in the family of the hierarchy, it’s a fat chance you’ll be called to serve the Mormon heavenly father in an upper echelon of servants. Be that as it may, we looked at the newest members in the coveted apostle position to see what, if anything, had changed…

Long story short – not much.

December 30 – Jude 1:21-23; “Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.  And of some have compassion, making a difference: And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.”

Mormon Decisions 10Journal of Discourses 5:27–28; “Here in Great Salt Lake City is the seat of government for the Church and Kingdom of God, pertaining toHeber C Kimball every person that has ever come into a probation on this earth, whether they are now in tabernacles upon this earth, or whether they are in the spirit world, or in hell. This is the place of deposit of all those keys pertaining to the salvation of the human family; and there never will one soul of those spirits now in prison come out of that place, except the keys of the kingdom of God that are now held in Great Salt Lake City open the door and let them out. They may peep and mutter, and may have revelations until doomsday, and may declare to all eternity that Joseph Smith is a false prophet, and that brother Brigham is a false prophet, and that this Church is false, and they will still remain in hell until we let them out.

Mormon Decisions 10Today we’re doing things a little differently! Woo-hoo!

To start off with, let’s take a look at what God tells us through His prophet Isaiah about putting our trust in Him.

Isaiah 12:2; “Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation.”

That one verse would put an end to all the ‘isms’ in the world if we’d just heed what it says.

Mormon Decisions 10The LDS Church has gone out of its way lately to publicly denounce the sins of others in society, so we’re wondering when, or rather if, they’re ever going to publicly denounce their own.Joseph Smith 8

Joe Smith was a busy guy with all the face to face meetings with God and subsequent prophecies he had to dole out. In addition to that, he had numerous obligations stemming from his position of self-anointed General, and being a husband to so many wives. It’s a wonder the guy ever had time to sleep!

Mormon Decisions 10History of the Church 2:191; “John F. Boynton’s Blessing:—Thou hast prevailed and thou shalt prevail, and thou shalt declare the Gospel untoJohn f Boynton many nations. Thou shalt be made mighty before God; and although thou shalt be cast out from the face of men, yet thou shalt have power to prevail. Thou shalt lead the elect triumphantly to the places of refuge; thou shalt be like the brethren who have been blessed before thee. Thou shalt stand in that day of calamity when the wicked shall be consumed, and present unto the Father, spotless, the fruits of thy labor. Thou shalt overcome all the evils that are in the world; thou shalt have wisdom to put to silence all the wisdom of the wise; and thou shalt see the face of thy Redeemer in the flesh. These blessings are pronounced and sealed upon thee. Even so. Amen.” – February 15, 1835
