Next to John 3:16, the Genesis scripture should be at the forefront of every believer’s mind. Man was separated from God, thus the need for John 3:16. It was not God’s intention for this to happen. He knew it would happen, but it doesn’t mean that He willed it to happen. The Mormon believes man had to sin in order to know joy, sadness and to even procreate. They believe this sin commandment came from God.

Mormons will tell you there aren’t any scriptures that say we don’t have a heavenly mother, yet it’s clear that God is self-existent without the need of anyone’s help for creating us. In fact, He’s the only one to come down from heaven at all, meaning we were not with Him before living on this earth. Ask the Mormon why they believe there is a “Heavenly Mother”.
_____
“This doctrine that there is a Mother in Heaven was affirmed in plainness by the First Presidency of the Church…that man is the “offspring of celestial parentage” and that “all men and women are in the similitude of the universal Father and Mother, and are literally the sons and daughters of Deity””. Converting to Mormonism

Converting to a Religion
Now that I’m a Christian I’ve discovered there’s a big difference in converting to a religion versus being converted to Christ. As a Mormon I never felt like I could do enough to earn God’s love and could never measure up. Now I can see the reason I never felt good enough. I was trying so hard to conform to the image of a religion and not to the image of Jesus Christ.
It was only after I began looking to Him and trusting in Him completely that I felt whole. I felt a huge weight being lifted off my shoulders. Nothing compares to the peace you have in your heart when you lay all your burdens and insecurities down at the feet of Jesus. When you let Him into your heart and have control of your life, you begin to conform to His image.
The culture of Mormonism is very different from anything you will see or experience in Christianity. With being LDS comes a constant yearning to be perfect. As soon as you convert to Mormonism, there is a list of “to do’s” in order to stay a member in good standing with “the Church”.
You’re told you must do these things for the Holy Spirit to remain with you and to receive blessings from God. When someone can’t meet the requirements, or do things that the church considers grievous sins they are stripped of their church membership and they aren’t allowed to participate in the basic tenants of church membership.
One of those tenants is partaking of the sacrament, or communion. In the Gospel Topics section of the LDS Church’s site under sacrament it says, “Today the sacrament is an ordinance which Church members partake of bread and water in remembrance of Jesus Christ’s atoning sacrifice. This ordinance is an essential part of worship and spiritual development.”
It’s odd that when a Mormon is going through a rough time in their life, trying to get back into the good graces of their church leaders and to God, the church would strip them of something that might give them comfort and hope.
When it comes to salvation, the LDS are taught their religion holds all the cards and there is no salvation, meaning living in the presence of God, outside of their church. Bruce McConkie stated in Mormon Doctrine page 670,
“If it had not been for Joseph Smith and the restoration, there would be no salvation. There is no salvation outside The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints”.
It’s because of this idea the Mormons have an undying loyalty to their church, and an unyielding superiority complex when it comes to “non-members”. When someone decides to leave the Church it causes the active family members to weep and mourn for family member as if they were dead. Many times I’ll read stories of those who have left and they often talk about their active Mormon family members who have accused them of separating the family in the eternities
Mormons are taught salvation comes through church membership and don’t realize it comes through, by and because of Jesus Christ. We see this in 1Timothy 2:10 and 2 Timothy 3:15 respectively;
”Therefore I endure all things for the elect’s sakes that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.”
“And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.”
When your salvation is tethered to a relationship with a religion you will always have a salvation that is conditional. Case in point; in the Gospel Topics section of the LDS Church’s web site under the topic “eternal life” it reads;
“Like immortality, this gift is made possible through the Atonement of Jesus Christ. However, to inherit eternal life requires our “obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel”
It’s very important to remember when an LDS resource or individual says “the Gospel” they are talking about the Mormon Gospel, not the Biblical Gospel of Jesus Christ. Another thing to remember; Mormons believe the atonement only makes it “possible” for them to live with God.
There are many stipulations to becoming exalted and having the gift of Mormon salvation. They don’t believe Jesus did all the work necessary for our salvation. They believe there are other things needed for salvation and eternal life. They will always fall back on their individual “works”.
They don’t have a full understanding of grace. Everything is attached to living the Mormon gospel, and doing what it says for the grace of Jesus Christ to kick in. In the Book of Mormon it says, “We know that it is by grace that we are saved, after all we can do.” (2 Nephi 25:23)
Usually when a Mormon is challenged by examples of the duplicitous nature of the past and present LDS leaders, they fall back on the works of their church. They will say things like “Look at what our church has done!” or ask “What has your church done?” In a recent email to the ministry one Mormon said,
“The LDS Church is usually one of the first to give humanitarian aid to others who live across the world when tragedies appear. (Example- Immediately after the great flood happened in New Orleans from the hurricane, the LDS church already had millions of supplies on trucks headed for the city, before others could pull their forces together.)”
Everything points back to the church. Even when God may use them as a body to do good things to bring comfort and meet the physical needs of others, they still don’t see it’s Him doing the work through them. They pat themselves on the back and give glory not to God, but to their church. In the May 2005 Ensign, then prophet of the Church Gordon B. Hinckley said;
“Now, as a Church we have worked with others in lifting the sorrow and sufferings of those who are in distress. Our humanitarian efforts have literally blessed the lives of countless thousands not of our faith. In the terrible tsunami disaster, and in other disasters incident to conflict, disease, and hunger, we have done a great and marvelous work assisting others without worrying about who gets the credit.”
In this year’s October General Conference, speaker Ann Dibb said,
“Heavenly Father has not left us alone during our mortal probation. He has already given us all the “safety equipment” we will need to successfully return to Him. He has given us personal prayer, the scriptures, living prophets, and the Holy Ghost to guide us.”
Jesus is, as one former LDS puts it, nothing more than a “footnote” to their religion. If you were to ask a Christian what “safety equipment” God has given us, they would say Jesus Christ. With Jesus Christ we don’t have to clean ourselves up first before we come to him. We read in Romans 5:8
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
When we have a relationship with Him, His love is unconditional. He loves us no matter what; He wouldn’t rescind the gift of the Holy Spirit when we fail or fall in our spiritual walk as the LDS believe!
I am so thankful I now have the one true God in my life that is so much bigger and awesome than the god I left! Jesus Christ doesn’t want you to be indebted to a religion. He wants you to have freedom from legalism. Most of all He wasn’t you to have a relationship with Him, not with a religion.
In Christ,
Melissa Grimes

The Heavenly Mother of Mormonism
By Melissa Grimes
One of the core beliefs in Mormonism is that not only do they have a Father in
Heaven, but a Mother in Heaven as well. This doctrine came from what they call “latter day revelation”, yet it isn’t something you’ll find in any of their extra scriptures.
Jesus and Lucifer Brothers?

Are Jesus & Lucifer Brothers?
I grew up on the east side of Ogden, Utah in the sixties and seventies directly across the street from a Seventh-day Adventist church. At that time there were very few non-LDS neighbors, even with the “weird church” (as we called it) across from us. That is to say, except the neighbors to the right of us.
For whatever reason that particular house only held its owners in for a year or two at a time and none of them were LDS. I recall one family had a son and daughter who was roughly my age and the little girl would sometimes be allowed to play with us, but never at our home. One day while we were playing on her swing set, she announced she wasn’t allowed to play at my house because we weren’t Christians. When I asked her what she meant by that, she replied by saying, “You think Jesus and Lucifer are brothers and that’s not Christian”.
Just as her final words came tumbling from her mouth I gave it my all to touch the sky in that last push on the swing. It seemed I was in the air forever after coming out of my swing. I wasn’t so sure the sinking feeling in my gut was a result of my record setting jump or from her blunt analysis of what makes a Christian a Christian.
I was left with a dark icky feeling all over. I knew what she said about the Church’s teachings was truth, but I had always been taught it wasn’t something you wanted to go and blab your mouth about in public. To hear those words coming out of someone’s mouth while not in a ward building startled me. And then to think she wasn’t even one of us; well, that just compounded my feeling of “ickiness” even more!
Now with the advent of the political campaigns, the subject of one of the candidate’s faith is in the forefront of many people’s thoughts. Websites and phone lines are abuzz with questions and innuendos from those who are seeking the truth about Mormonism. In light of all this; here it is.
Truth:
The LDS Church has always taught that Jesus and Lucifer are brothers!
I’ve spent my entire 44 years of life dealing with the Mormon faith and people. As a sixth generation Mormon from Utah, I spent the first thirty years in the Church. The remainder of that time has been in ministry offering them hope and showing there is a way out!
Earlier this week I spent about five minutes on the official website of the Mormon Church at www.lds.org I’ve listed just a few references from their perspective of who Jesus is and the basics of what they believe regarding this one topic. The references are taken from their website and my personal collection of LDS works respectively. It’s to be understood that this one teaching of Jesus isn’t some obscure doctrine plucked from the basement of a sermon given some 150 years ago. This teaching is a staple in the LDS psyche.
1 – The following question and answer can be found on their website
“How can Jesus and Lucifer be spirit brothers when their characters and purposes are so utterly opposed?”
“Jess L. Christensen, “I Have a Question,” Ensign, June 1986, 25–26; Jess L. Christensen, Institute of Religion director at Utah State University, Logan, Utah.
On first hearing, the doctrine that Lucifer and our Lord, Jesus Christ, are brothers may seem surprising to some—especially to those unacquainted with latter-day revelations. But both the scriptures and the prophets affirm that Jesus Christ and Lucifer are indeed offspring of our Heavenly Father and, therefore, spirit brothers. Jesus Christ was with the Father from the beginning. Lucifer, too, was an angel “who was in authority in the presence of God,” a “son of the morning.” (See Isa. 14:12; D&C 76:25–27.) Both Jesus and Lucifer were strong leaders with great knowledge and influence. But as the Firstborn of the Father, Jesus was Lucifer’s older brother. (See Col. 1:15; D&C 93:21.)”
“How could two such great spirits become so totally opposite? The answer lies in the principle of agency, which has existed from all eternity. (See D&C 93:30–31.) Of Lucifer, the scripture says that because of rebellion “he became Satan, yea, even the devil, the father of all lies.” (Moses 4:4.) Note that he was not created evil, but became Satan by his own choice.”
“When our Father in Heaven presented his plan of salvation, Jesus sustained the plan and his part in it, giving the glory to God, to whom it properly belonged. Lucifer, on the other hand, sought power, honor, and glory only for himself. (See Isa. 14:13–14; Moses 4:1–2.) When his modification of the Father’s plan was rejected, he rebelled against God and was subsequently cast out of heaven with those who had sided with him. (See Rev. 12:7–9; D&C 29:36–37.)”
“That brothers would make dramatically different choices is not unusual. It has happened time and again, as the scriptures attest: Cain chose to serve Satan; Abel chose to serve God. (See Moses 5:16–18.) Esau “despised his birthright”; Jacob wanted to honor it. (Gen. 25:29–34.) Joseph’s brothers sought to kill him; he sought to preserve them. (Gen. 37:12–24; Gen. 45:3–11.)”
2 – A quick search produced this article by Robert D. Hales, “The Aaronic Priesthood: Return with Honor,” Ensign May 1990, 39;
“We cannot remember that we once lived with our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and that we probably sat in meetings much like this, where the Father’s plan for us was explained. We cannot remember that Lucifer, a son of God the Father, a brother of Jesus Christ, rebelled against God’s plan and, in his rebellion, promised he would bring us all back home. But Lucifer would have denied us our free agency, the freedom to make decisions. We cannot remember that his plan was not accepted by us because, without choice, there would not have been a purpose for coming to this mortal probation. We would not have had opposition or repentance. We would not have learned obedience.“
3 – The article we’ve listed here is just as damning and blasphemous as the previous one. It is hard for me to imagine that I used to believe the same thing. It was originally a speech called “The Great Imitator” given by James E. Faust. You can find it on the link provided or search their website for the Ensign, Nov. 1987, pg. 33.
“Satan became the devil by seeking glory, power, and dominion by force (see Moses 4:3–4). But Jesus, chosen “from the beginning” (Moses 4:2), said unto God, “Father, thy will be done, and the glory be thine forever” (Moses 4:2). What a contrast in approaches! Wrong as his plan was, Satan was persuasive enough to entice one-third of the hosts of heaven to follow him (see D&C 29:36; Rev. 12:4). He practiced a great deception by saying, “I am also a son of God” (Moses 5:13).”
4 – This last quote is taken from the work of Don H. Peterson, Pearl of Great Price: A History and Commentary, pp. 141-142;
“”Long before you were born a program was developed by your creators. There was rebellion in the ranks. The proposed program called for total controls by each individual of his personal life, including restraints, sacrifices, and self-mastery…”But thank God that there were enough sane and sagacious souls on the side of truth and wisdom and the rebellious souls were vanquished as to the eternal and ultimate program. The principal personalities in this great drama were a Father Elohim, perfect in wisdom, judgment, and person, and two sons, Lucifer and Jehovah.” (Spencer W. Kimball, Teachings of Spencer W. Kimball, pp. 32-33. See also George Q. Cannon, Gospel Truth, 1:137-38; Harold B. Lee, as quoted by ElRay L. Christiansen, in Ensign, Nov. 1974, p. 23; Joseph Fielding Smith, Answers to Gospel Questions, 5:31.)”
I realize my swing set experience was more than thirty years ago, but I can assure you the teachings of the Church have not changed for this one. They still hold fast and true to the doctrine of the pre-existence and the war in heaven. They still teach there was a council of gods that gathered to create the earth and they still teach that Jesus and Lucifer are brothers.
If you’re LDS, take a few moments of your day and do a study about Jesus. There is no doubt in my mind the LDS people love Him. I am speaking from thirty years of experience.
There are many venues to employ in your research. The first suggestion is an article from our site and the others are independent resources which are very reliable. Don’t take my word for it – check them out!
With Love in Christ;
Michelle

Joseph Smith Descriptions
Google the name of Joseph Smith and you’ll find a plethora of websites that either lauds the praises of Smith or those who show vehement hatred for the man. My objective for this list of descriptions isn’t to show hatred towards him because I don’t feel hatred for Joseph Smith; however, I am saddened for my people that have chosen to believe in his odious lies. Our objective for producing articles such as these is to inform and educate.
Aside from the LDS hymn “Praise to the Man”, let’s find out just how much the Mormon people love the false prophet Joseph Smith. If the Mormon will stay on this site long enough to see just one egregious falsehood about Smith and begin thinking about it, then I’ve done the job God has given me to do. Our main objective isn’t to sensationalize, but to inform and lead my people into the ever loving arms of our God and Savior Christ Jesus.

January 11 – Grace. Hebrews 4:16 says we can “come boldly unto the throne of grace, so that we can obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need”.
_____
The Greek word for grace is charis. (Strong’s #5485) The transliteration means favor or gift. Think today about what God has graced you with. Is it your very life, your spouse, children, or home? Has He healed you from a disease? How has He personally blessed you? Share with a Mormon how He has done this.
_____
Grace is not to be found in Mormonism. There is no favor with God unless you earn it. Bruce McConkie said; “Grace is granted to men proportionately as they conform to the standards of personal righteousness that are part of the gospel plan. Thus the saints are commanded to “grow in grace”’. Mormon Doctrine pg. 339.

December 29 – Revelation 5:6a, 9-10a; “And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain…And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.”
_____
This is the second time that John refers to Jesus as the Lamb. In the gospel of John, he told us of how John the Baptist points to Jesus as the Lamb of God. In Revelation he tells us that He is the slain Lamb of God, worthy of our praise. What a beautiful picture we have here of our awesome God!
The word slain literally means cut in the throat for a sacrifice. His sacrifice is our proof that He paid the price in full for our redemption unto God.
In Mormon theology, Jesus is a created being. If this is all he is, wouldn’t it leave room for error, therefore nullifying the Lamb of God without blemish? How could it be that something created could be perfect? Saying Jesus was created takes away His omnipotence and lessens the wonder of who God is to us. They can call him the Lamb of God all they want, but it’s not the Lamb of God of the Bible that was created.
_____
“God the Eternal Father, our Father in Heaven, is an exalted, perfected, and glorified Personage having a tangible body of flesh and bones. (D. & C. 130:22.) The designation Father is to be taken literally; it signifies that the Supreme Being is the literal Parent or Father of the spirits of all men. (Heb. 12:9.) All men, Christ included, were born as his children in pre-existence. (D. & C. 93:21-23; Moses 1; 2; 3; 4; Abra. 3:22-28.) This is the reason men are commanded to approach Deity in prayer by saying, “Our Father which art in heaven.” (Matt. 6:9.)” Bruce R. McConkie, Mormon Doctrine, 278.

December 5 – John 1:9; “That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.”
_____
Let the unsaved see the true Light that resides in you today. As Christians we have a tendency to become “comfortable with our own friends”. To be honest here; when you’re a Mormon it’s scary to step spiritually closer to someone who is a Christian, but for some unexplained reason you can’t help yourself but be drawn in further. Show them from the scriptures what they’ve been taught is the direct opposite of the truth. The everlasting gospel they’ve mentioned here is not a restoration of the gospel. The everlasting covenant is Jesus Christ and Him crucified!
_____
“Christ is the light of the world, and the gospel is his message of light and salvation to all men.”I have sent mine everlasting covenant into the world,” he said, speaking of the restoration of the gospel, “to be a light to the world, and to be a standard for my people, and for the Gentiles to seek to it.” (D. & C. 45:9.) Where the gospel is there is light; where the gospel is not darkness prevails.” Bruce R. McConkie, Mormon Doctrine, 444.

December 4 – John 1:3; “All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.”
_____
We see from scripture that Jesus is the Creator, nothing was made without Him. Once again the LDS Church has tricked their followers into believing a lie. Understanding the Church has changed the meanings of basic English words is one of the keys to remember when witnessing to your Mormon friends and relatives. Continue to have a dictionary on hand for reference. It’s easier to control the masses when you keep them confused; thus you have groups such as Mormonism.
_____
“To create is to organize. It is an utterly false and uninspired notion to believe that the world or any other thing was created out of nothing or that any created thing can be destroyed in the sense of annihilation. “The elements are eternal.” (D. & C. 93:33.)” Bruce R. McConkie, Mormon Doctrine, 169.
Doctrine and Covenants 93:29, 33; “Man was also in the beginning with God. Intelligence, or the light of truth, was not created or made, neither indeed can be.” “For man is spirit. The elements are eternal, and spirit and element, inseparably connected, receive a fulness of joy.”

Kings and Queens in Embryo
By Melissa Grimes
In the May 2010 General Conference Dieter F. Uchtdorf told the women of the Mormon Church-
“Sisters, we love you. We pray for you. Be strong and of good courage. You are truly royal spirit daughters of Almighty God. You are princesses, destined to become queens. Your own wondrous story has already begun. Your ‘once upon a time’ is now.” (May 2010 Ensign, page 127)
The first time I was told I would became a “queen” was during a Mormon temple ceremony when I was washed and anointed to become a queen and priestesses to my husband in the eternities. At this time I had only been a member of the Mormon Church for a little over a year, and the thought of becoming a queen in heaven was a very foreign concept to me.
