September 20 – John 7:14-17; “Now about the midst of the feast Jesus went up into the temple, and taught.  And the Jews marvelled, saying, How knoweth this man letters, having never learned?  Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.  If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.”

September 21 – John 14:16-18; “And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.  I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.”

March 14 – Ex. 3:14, John 8:58; “And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM”.  “Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am”.

What an amazing set of scriptures to give to a Mormon!  Ask them why they think the Pharisees were so angry with Jesus after reading these two verses to them.  Then share their own scriptures with them and ask them what it means.

_____

Introductory page of the Book of Mormon, 2nd paragraph:  “JESUS IS THE CHRIST, THE ETERNAL GOD”.

February 25 – “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God;  And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even death of the cross.”  Phil. 2:5-6, 8.

_____

There are actually two subjects to notice with this verse.  Explain the word “robbery” to the Mormon.  In the Greek, it means “grasped”.  The other subject is the belief that Jesus had to perform, or work, to receive His salvation.

“If a man gets a fullness of the priesthood of God he has to get it in the same way that Jesus Christ obtained it, and that was by keeping all the commandments and obeying all the ordinances of the house of the Lord.”  Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, pg. 308

February 17 – Hebrews 1:5 is clear about what God said in relation to angels and Jesus Christ.  “For unto which of the angels said he at any time, THOU ART MY SON, THIS DAY HAVE I BEGOTTEN THEE?  And again, I WILL BE TO HIM A FATHER, AND HE SHALL BE TO ME A SON?”

Mormons believe that Jesus and Lucifer are literally spiritually begotten by God and the Heavenly Mother.  Ask them what they think about this verse.

_____

“The contention in heaven was-Jesus said there would be certain souls that would not be saved; and the devil said he could save them all, and laid his plans before the grand council, who gave their vote in favor of Jesus Christ.  So the devil rose up in rebellion against God, and was cast down, with all who put up their heads for him”.  Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, pg. 357.

It’s always important to pay close attention to the wording of contracts, bosses, parents or anything else that is in authority in your life.  You may miss a key element that could cost you millions of dollars, cost you your freedom or ultimately your own salvation.

Joseph Smith’s ‘New Translation’ of the Bible says in John 1:1, 14; “In the beginning was the gospel preached through the Son.  And the gospel was the word, and the word was with the Son, and the Son was with God, and the Son was of God.  And the same word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the Only Begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth”.

December 20 – Hebrews 1:3; “Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high.”

_____

Today we see that Jesus is the glory and the exact image of God and now sits down on His right hand, understanding this is a place of honor that He occupies.

Can you just imagine?  Think for a moment about this scenario!

The image He shines forth is neither a replica nor a reflection; it’s the exact image because Jesus is God.

He is the sovereign God of all, Ruler, King, Omnipotent, Omniscient, Omnipresent, Almighty God.

It is by and through Him that God created everything.

Psalm 2:6-7, Matt. 28:18, John 5:22, Isaiah 40:28, Romans 1:20, Job 42:2, Matthew 19:26, Daniel 4:35, Isaiah 44:24, Psalm 147:5…

This Almighty God we worship purged our sins Himself because He wanted to.  His love is so great He chose to do this for us.  The sinless babe in the manger…

The LDS’s understanding and twisting of this verse has nothing to do with truth.

“Seldom, in words as few, and with logic as persuasive, does Holy Writ set forth so clearly the nature and kind of Being that God is…Now Paul is saying that the resurrected Christ is in the express image of his Father’s person, which is to say that the Father also has a body of flesh and bones; or, as latter-day revelation—equally blunt, equally succinct, equally plain—says simply: “The Father has a body of flesh and bones as tangible as man’s; the Son also; but the Holy Ghost has not a body of flesh and bones, but is a personage of Spirit.” (D. & C. 130:22.).”  Bruce R. McConkie, Doctrinal New Testament Commentary, 3: 136.

December 3 – Matthew 1:19-20; “Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily.  But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.”

_____

For a moment today take a break in solitude and think upon these two verses.  Think about the significance of what the Lord God has set into motion here.  Conceived of the Holy Ghost…what a holy, pure and perfect God we serve!  Fear not dear ones in sharing the truth with the Mormons.  God will not disappoint you.  If He can perform a miracle such as this, imagine what else He is able to do!  The LDS Church has tried to bring this event down to the level of evil that resides in their hearts.  Unwilling to accept that we have an omnipotent God; heretical ideas run rampant.

“The question has been, and is often, asked, who it was that begat the Son of the Virgin Mary. The infidel world have concluded that if what the Apostles wrote about his father and mother be true, and the present marriage discipline acknowledged by Christendom be correct, then Christians must believe that God is the father of an illegitimate son, in the person of Jesus Christ! The infidel fraternity teach that to their disciples. I will tell you how it is. Our Father in Heaven begat all the spirits that ever were, or ever will be, upon this earth; and they were born spirits in the eternal world.”  Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses 1:50 – 51.

November 29 – John 2:7-9; “Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim.  And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it.  When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom.”

_____

Here we have the first miracle of Jesus!  Isn’t it an amazing passage to think upon?  There are many subjects to study within this small passage of scripture.  From the meaning of the water in the waterpots; to the actual miracle itself and showing the servants that He had arrived!  Mary obviously knew and now the world was about to experience the miracle of how He could change their lives.  The LDS Church has tried to make this miracle into something it is not; degrading the Lord.

“It will be borne in mind that once on a time, there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and on a careful reading of that transaction, it will be discovered that no less a person than Jesus Christ was married on that occasion. If he was never married, his intimacy with Mary and Martha, and the other Mary also whom Jesus loved, must have been highly unbecoming and improper to say the best of it….I will venture to say that if Jesus Christ were now to pass through the most pious countries in Christendom with a train of women…and unmarried, or even married, he would be mobbed, tarred, and feathered, and rode, not on an ass, but on a rail. What did the old Prophet mean when he said (speaking of Christ), “He shall see his seed, prolong his days, &c.” Did Jesus consider it necessary to fulfil every righteous command or requirement of his Father? He most certainly did…Was it God’s commandment to man, in the beginning, to multiply and replenish the earth? None can deny this, neither that it was a righteous command…Did Christ come to destroy the law or the Prophets, or to fulfil them? He came to fulfil. Did he multiply, and did he see his seed? Did he honour his Father’s law by complying with it, or did he not? Others may do as they like, but I will not charge our Saviour with neglect or transgression in this or any other duty.”  Orson Hyde, Journal of Discourses, 26 vols, 4: 260.

A few weeks ago I received an e-mail through the Life After Ministries website.  This gentleman informed me that quoting from the LDS authorized book Mortal Messiah, written by Bruce McConkie, was proof I didn’t know the difference between Mormon doctrine and the gospel.  I would respond to him privately but he’s blocked my IP address on his computer.

Okay then.
