Brigham Young Addresses, Ms d 1234, Box 48, folder 3, dated
February 5, 1852, located in the LDS church historical dept.; “I am as much opposed to the principle of slavery as any man in the present acceptation or usage of the term, it is abused. I am opposed to abuseing that which God has decreed, to take a blessing, and make a curse of it. It is a great blessing to the seed of Adam to have the seed of Cain for servants….”

Encyclopedia of Mormonism, p 461; “In giving a blessing the patriarch may declare our lineage-that is, that we are of Israel, therefore of the family of Abraham, and of a specific tribe of Jacob. In the great majority of cases, Latter-day Saints are of the tribe of Ephraim, the tribe to which has been committed the leadership of the Latter-day work. Whether this lineage is of blood or adoption it does not matter” (p. 73; cf. Abr. 2:10).”

False Prophecies of Mormonism Apostates and Non-Whites can’t Enter Kingdom of God

Journal of Discourses 26:12; “The apostate will have his civil rights under that kingdom. The non-Mormon, or Gentile as he is called, will have his rights under that kingdom. The Chinaman, the negro, and the Indian—each of them will have his rights under that kingdom, and yet not be members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A good many of our people confound the Kingdom of God with the Church of God. Now there is a very wide distinction between the two. A man may, in one sense, be a member of the Church of Christ, and not a member of the Kingdom of God. The two organizations are entirely distinct.” – George Q. Cannon, Provo, Utah, November 20, 1881

Juvenile Instructor, Vol. 3, No. 21, November 1, 1868, pg 165; “We do not believe in the permanency of a race descended from people so wide apart as the Anglo-Saxon and Negro. In fact we believe it to be a great sin in the eyes of our Heavenly Father for a white person to marry a black one. And further, that it is a proof of the mercy of God that no such race appear to be able to continue for many generations.”

When Martin Luther King’s speech took place fifty years ago today, I was four months shy of being born. That doesn’t mean his words don’t carry as much weight for me or others not born in that era because they do! Reverend King’s speech has stood as a hallmark of all speeches – ever.

Spirit World Behavior Determines Race
“The Church and the Negroid People,” pp. 16-17; “Man will be punished for his own sins and not for Adam’s transgression. If this is carried further, it would imply that the Negro is punished or allotted to a certain position on this earth, not because of Cain’s transgression, but came to earth through the loins of Cain because of his failure to achieve other stature in the spirit world.” – William E. Berrett

Lying for Mormonism
“The Need for Greater Kindness”; “ Let remind you that no man who makes disparaging remarks concerning those of another race can consider himself a true disciple of Christ. Nor can he consider himself to be in harmony with the teachings of the Church of Christ. Let us all recognize that each of us is a son or daughter of our Father in Heaven, who loves all of His children.” – Gordon B. Hinckley
Acts 10:34-35; “Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: 35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.”
If this Mormon prophet believed in the words he spoke, he would’ve denounced Mormonism along with his statement.
By continuing his actions in promoting the Church he’s lied to millions of people. LDS Scripture still contains the racist teachings they always have.

35 Questions about Joseph Smith’s Angelic Visits
Ensign, Oct 1994, “I Have a Question”; “The Prophet Joseph Smith witnessed firsthand “the times of restitution of all things” (Acts 3:21) at the hands of heavenly emissaries. He is likely preeminent among prophets in regard to the large number of divine manifestations he experienced. It is appropriate and essential that prophets whose role it is to open gospel dispensations be blessed with an abundance of God-given revelations, visions, and manifestations that assist in the reestablishment of the gospel. The prophets Enoch, Abraham, and Moses are other examples.” – Brian L. Smith
Ephesians 6:11-12; “Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”

The Changing god of Mormonism
The Teachings of Spencer W. Kimball, p. 438;“Now, my brothers sisters, as you read of troubles in so many parts of the world, remember that the Lord knew these problems would come, and that even with these problems he has foreseen the growth of this Church and its people. Be of good cheer, for the Lord is guiding his Church.”
Hebrews 13:5; “Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.”

Salt Lake Trib Report: “Utah Fourth Highest for Racist Tweets after Obama Victory”
Some things never change and apparently the hallmark LDS revelation of 1978 didn’t do much for some who reside in Utah.
An article in the Salt Lake Trib today about racist tweets after Obama’s victory caught my attention and reminded me that as a nation on the whole we’re doing better, but there’s still work to do about loving thy neighbor as thyself. There are some people in this world who apparently missed the memo.

Racism
Race Problems – As They Affect The Church, Convention of Teachers of Religion on the College Level, Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah, August 27, 1954; “I think I have read enough to give you an idea of what the Negro is after. He is not just seeking the opportunity of sitting down in a cafe where white people eat. He isn’t just trying to ride on the same streetcar or the same Pullman car with white people. It isn’t that he just desires to go to the same theater as the white people.

Racist Mormon Toys
I received an e-mail from a Christian friend of mine earlier this week pointing out something very disturbing in the world of Mormon toys. (Thank you Rebecca!)
A company by the name of Latter*Day Designs sells action figures depicting characters from the Book of Mormon. One set of these toys includes 33 action figures that can be purchased with a special carrying case they’ve named “My Book of Mormon Heroes”.

Cain is Black & Sinners Turn Black
Juvenile Instructor, Vol. 26, pg. 635; “…From this it is very clear that the mark which was set upon the descendants of Cain was a skin of blackness, and there can be no doubt that this was the mark that Cain himself received; in fact, it has been noticed in our day that men who have lost the spirit of the Lord, and from whom his blessings have been withdrawn, have turned dark to such an extent as to excite the comments of all who have known them”.

Cain Cursed with no Priesthood, Black Skin & Flat Nose
Journal of Discourses 7:290; “…and the Lord put a mark upon him, which is the flat nose and black skin. Trace mankind down to after the flood, and then another curse is pronounced upon the same race—that they should be the “servant of servants;” and they will be, until that curse is removed…That curse will remain upon them, and they never can hold the Priesthood or share in it until all the other descendants of Adam have received the promises and enjoyed the blessings of the Priesthood and the keys thereof.” – Brigham Young, Salt Lake City, October 9, 1859

The Church and the Negroid People, pp. 16-17; “Man will be punished for his own sins and not for Adam’s transgression. Doctrinal Commentary on the Pearl of Great Price, p 406-407; “The position of the Church regarding the Negro may be understood when another doctrine of the Church is kept in mind; namely, that the conduct of spirits in the pre-mortal existence has some determining effect upon the conditions and circumstances under which these spirits take on mortality, and that while the details of the principle have not been made known, the principle itself indicates that the coming to this earth and taking on mortality is a privilege that is given to those who maintain their first estate; and that the worth of the principle is so great that spirits are willing to come to earth and take on bodies no matter what the handicap may be as to the kind of bodies they are to secure; and that among the handicaps, failure of the right to enjoy in mortality the blessings of the priesthood, is a handicap which spirits are willing to assume in order that they might come to earth. Under this principle there is no injustice whatsoever involved in this deprivation as to the holding of the Priesthood by Negroes.” – Hyrum Andrus, 1998
