Joseph Smith-Seeker After Truth, pp. 177-178 “The meanest sinner will find some place in the heavenly realm…In the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, there is no Hell. All will find a measure of salvation.” — John A. Widtsoe [See The Vision of the Degrees of Glory D&C 76:89-106 that uses the phrase ‘…the meanest sinner’…] (more…)

“Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.” Proverbs 16:18

August 11 — Joseph Smith Knows More Than Whole World. Times and Seasons 5:614617 “…No man can learn you more than what I have told you…I have been reading the German and find it to be the most correct…I know more than all the world put together, and the Holy Ghost within me comprehends more than all the world…I have now preached a little Latin, a little Hebrew, Greek and German, and I have fulfilled all. I am not so big a fool as many have taken me to be. The Germans know that I read the German correct.”

‘Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.’ Matthew 24:35

Journal of Discourses 26:115-116 “The Scriptures give an account simply of the woman Eve; declaring that this name was given her of Adam, because she was “the mother of all living;” but outside of biblical record there has been handed down from time immemorial the idea that Adam had two wives, the narrators go so far, or rather so near perfecting the tradition so as to give their names, Lilith being said to be the name of one as Eve was the name of the other, and while it may be difficult to harmonize all the Rabbinical and Talmudic versions of this matter, it is said that Joseph Smith the Prophet taught that Adam had two wives.” — H. W. Naisbitt, delivered in the Tabernacle, Salt Lake City, Sunday Afternoon, March 8, 1885. (more…)

Doctrine and Covenants 128:18 “I might have rendered a plainer translation to this, but it is sufficiently plain to suit my purpose as it stands. It is sufficient to know, in this case, that the earth will be smitten with a curse unless there is a welding link of some kind or other between the fathers and the children, upon some subject or other—and behold what is that subject? It is the baptism for the dead. For we without them cannot be made perfect; neither can they without us be made perfect. Neither can they nor we be made perfect without those who have died in the gospel also; for it is necessary in the ushering in of the dispensation of the fulness of times, which dispensation is now beginning to usher in, that a whole and complete and perfect union, and welding together of dispensations, and keys, and powers, and glories should take place, and be revealed from the days of Adam even to the present time. And not only this, but those things which never have been revealed from the foundation of the world, but have been kept hid from the wise and prudent, shall be revealed unto babes and sucklings in this, the dispensation of the fulness of times.” (more…)

“I am trying here to prevent anyone saying the really foolish thing that people often say about Him: I’m ready to accept Jesus as a great moral teacher, but I don’t accept his claim to be God. That is the one thing we must not say…” — CS Lewis, Mere Christianity, pp. 55-56.

General Conference, “A Teacher Come from God”, April 1998 “For each of us to “come unto Christ,” to keep His commandments and follow His example back to the Father is surely the highest and holiest purpose of human existence. To help others do that as well—to teach, persuade, and prayerfully lead them to walk that path of redemption also—surely that must be the second most significant task in our lives.” — Jeffrey Holland (more…)

Doctrine and Covenants 132 IntroRevelation given through Joseph Smith the Prophet, at Nauvoo, Illinois, recorded July 12, 1843, relating to the new and everlasting covenant, including the eternity of the marriage covenant and the principle of plural marriage. Although the revelation was recorded in 1843, evidence indicates that some of the principles involved in this revelation were known by the Prophet as early as 1831. See Official Declaration 1.(more…)

Doctrine and Covenants 132:4, 34 “For behold, I reveal unto you a new and an everlasting covenant; and if ye abide not that covenant, then are ye damned; for no one can reject this covenant and be permitted to enter into my glory. 34 God commanded Abraham, and Sarah gave Hagar to Abraham to wife. And why did she do it? Because this was the law; and from Hagar sprang many people. This, therefore, was fulfilling, among other things, the promises.” (more…)

1 Corinthians 2:5 “That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the Power of God.”

Today we’re doing things a little differently – woo-hoo!

A few weeks ago, I received an e-mail from a good friend, Melissa Brown, who’s participated in comments on our blog. Her heart was burdened with the news she read about the late Ravi Zacharias and wanted to know if she could say something about it on the blog.

Melissa had two major concerns about the news she read –

1.Christians should be warned about the lifestyle he lied about and hid for numerous years.

2.Mr. Zacharias’ lifestyle was a close reflection of Joseph Smith’s. In light of how the Church welcomed Ravi into the SL Tabernacle, Mormons should also be alerted to the wily ways of these two men.

After prayer and our exchanges, I’ve no doubt her article will prove valuable to those who read what she has to say!

With Love in Christ –—

Michelle

“A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold.” Proverbs 22:1

General Conference, ‘Closing Remarks’, October 2019 “We know the restored gospel of Jesus Christ will bring hope and joy to people who will hear and heed His doctrine. We also know that each home can become a true sanctuary of faith, where peace, love, and the Spirit of the Lord may dwell.

Of course, the crowning jewel of the Restoration is the holy temple. Its sacred ordinances and covenants are pivotal to preparing a people who are ready to welcome the Savior at His Second Coming. Presently we have 166 dedicated temples, and more are coming.” — Russell Nelson [emp. added] (more…)

Doctrine and Covenants 124:20-22 “Revelation given to Joseph Smith the Prophet, at Nauvoo, Illinois, January 19, 1841. … And again, verily I say unto you, my servant George Miller is without guile; he may be trusted because of the integrity of his heart; and for the love which he has to my testimony I, the Lord, love him. 21 I therefore say unto you, I seal upon his head the office of a bishopric, like unto my servant Edward Partridge, that he may receive the consecrations of mine house, that he may administer blessings upon the heads of the poor of my people, saith the Lord. Let no man despise my servant George, for he shall honor me. 22 Let my servant George, and my servant Lyman, and my servant John Snider, and others, build a house unto my name, such a one as my servant Joseph shall show unto them, upon the place which he shall show unto them also.” (more…)

Journal of Discourses 3:265-266 “This revelation, which God gave to Joseph, was for the express purpose of providing a channel for the organization of tabernacles, for those spirits to occupy who have been reserved to come forth in the kingdom of God, and that they might not be obliged to take tabernacles out of the kingdom of God. …

Now if any of you will deny the plurality of wives, and continue to do so, I promise that you will be damned… …but the Saints who live their religion will be exalted…” —— Brigham Young, Provo, Utah, July 14, 1855. (more…)

Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, pp. 340-41 “I have asked of the Lord concerning His coming; and while asking the Lord, He gave a sign and said, “In the days of Noah I set a bow in the heavens as a sign and token that in any year that the bow should be seen the Lord would not come; but there should be seed time and harvest during that year; but whenever you see the bow withdrawn, it shall be a token that there shall be famine, pestilence, and great distress among the nations, and that the coming of the Messiah is not far distant.”” — April 2, 1843
