Today we’re taking another look at the self-proclaimed authority Joseph Smith bestowed upon himself. Above all things, don’t forget to pray for Jesus to open the eyes of Mormons who’ve fallen for the trickeries of Mr. Smith. The following article was originally published in 2015 and still a great tool to show how Smith had no authority at all.
How did Joseph Smith receive the authority to hold the keys of priesthood?
This question should be one of the most important questions to ask the Mormon people. The LDS Church says that “priesthood is power” so this means they view themselves as the only authority to speak for and act in behalf of God.
I had the privilege of asking my dear friend Ed Decker to write a chapter in my mentoring handbook and so we’re answering our dilemma question today with Ed’s contribution!

Jesus in the Book of Mormon and the LDS Church
With Easter just around the corner, we thought it’d be a good reminder to show the truth about the Jesus of Mormonism. We originally posted this in 2011.
Our intent in posting these things isn’t to ridicule or bash the Mormon people, rather, it’s to inform both the Christians, as well as the LDS people.
As is usually the case, I stumbled across something interesting in the Book of Mormon while looking for something else. This time I was reminded of what the Nephites thought of Jesus and His skin color in 3 Nephi 19:30;
“And when Jesus had spoken these words he came again unto his disciples; and behold they did pray steadfastly, without ceasing, unto him; and he did smile upon them again; and behold they were white, even as Jesus.”
How can this be you ask? Yeah, well you might want to hold that thought so you can ask the same question about all the things they say about Jesus. So this got me to thinking…is there a concise list of all the things Mormons are taught about Jesus?
I remember being a Mormon and being confused about the truth. I wanted so badly to know Him, but didn’t know how or even where to look. Each time I read my MIA or Relief Society manuals to compare them with the Bible, I kept getting more and more confused. I couldn’t keep the stories about Him straight and often wondered where the atonement took place and when. (more…)

An article in the Church’s Liahona Magazine (February 2021) highlighted the importance of David Whitmer who was one of the original three witnesses to the BoM.
