Ours is an active, vibrant faith dedicated to serving the Lord and doing the things He would do if He were walking among us. As we do His will we feel His spirit, a peaceful, comforting presence that warms our souls with courage and faith and draws us ever closer to Him. And as we draw closer to Him, we learn to love Him and our Eternal Father, and we find ourselves showing our love for them by keeping their commandments—which helps us to become more like them.

The message begins with M. Russell Ballard stating;

“At the heart of the English word atonement is the word one. If all mankind understood this, there would never be anyone with whom we would not be concerned, regardless of age, race, gender, religion, or social or economic standing. We would strive to emulate the Savior and would never be unkind, indifferent, disrespectful, or insensitive to others.”

As a Mormon I was made to feel that my membership in the Church was the most important thing in my life. Countless General Conference talks, Sunday School and Relief Society lessons, along with the missionary discussions I had received when I first decided to join the Church had taught me that if I ever chose to leave Mormonism, I’d have nothing.

Today we’re looking at the Sovereignty of God!

As a Mormon I had never heard of such a thing, and always believed I was in heaven with God and everyone else before the world was created. This for me, was one of the most shocking discoveries when I left Mormonism.

Visiting Teaching Message May 2015

flowers-cartoon-8Twice a year (May & November) the Church instructs Visiting Teachers to choose a talk from their General Conferences held the previous month (April & October) to use as a lesson for their Visiting Teaching Message.

With that in mind, we chose an unconventional talk that wasn’t necessarily intended for the entire Mormon populace. The talk we chose was delivered by LDS Apostle, M. Russell Ballard entitled ‘The Greatest Generation of Young Adults’.
