As an FYI, in updating some of our articles, I was reminded of this one that’s always been one of my favs. We pray members of the Church will take notice as they build their to-do lists during the holidays.
Jesus is the Only Way
By Melissa Grimes
I recently come upon this quote by Gordon B. Hinckley:
“Just as our Redeemer gave His life as a vicarious sacrifice for all men, and in so doing became our Savior, even so we, in a small measure, when we engage in proxy work in the temple, become as saviors to those on the other side who have no means of advancing unless something is done in their behalf by those on earth” (“Closing Remarks,” Ensign, November 2004, 105).
The idea that we have the power to save someone, in the eternal sense is blasphemy. We don’t have the power to do that, only Jesus does. You don’t need someone to do Masonic temple rituals for you in the LDS temple.

Book of Mormon Witnesses
Encyclopedia of Mormonism, pg. 214 “The witnesses were men known for truthfulness and sobriety. Though each of the Three Witnesses was eventually excommunicated from the Church (two returned), none ever denied or retracted his published testimony. Each reaffirmed at every opportunity the veracity of his testimony and the reality of what he had seen and experienced…Five of these Eight Witnesses remained solidly with the Church; John Whitmer was excommunicated in 1838, and his brother Jacob Whitmer and brother-in-law Hiram Page then became inactive.”

August 9 – Luke 8:9-11 ‘And his disciples asked him, saying, What might this parable be? And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand. Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.’

Investigating Mormonism?
“These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.” Acts 17:11
We’ve updated our article, ‘Investigating Mormonism’ and thought it’d make a great witnessing tool for those who will be visiting friends/relatives over the summer months.
You can find lots of basic beliefs about Mormonism to ask your loved ones for their opinion on these classic LDS doctrines.
As an FYI,, you can find it at the top of our homepage on the right hand side…
For anyone thinking about joining Mormonism, we highly encourage a healthy investigation into their basic beliefs, as well as the history of the Church.
We thought we’d list a few of the beliefs to aid in your studies, so here we go!
We pray everyone will be as those in Thessalonica, and study to see if the things of Mormonism are what God has ordained!
With Love in Christ;
Michelle

Discourses of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p 264
“In addition to the spiritual manifestations already mentioned as having occurred at this conference of June 3rd-6th, it should be said that, according to John Whitmer’s History of the Church, ch. v: “The Spirit of the Lord fell upon Joseph in an unusual manner, and he prophesied that John the Revelator was then among the Ten Tribes of Israel who had been led away by Salmanasser, king of Assyria, to prepare them for their return from their long dispersion, to again possess the land of their fathers. He prophesied many more things that I have not written.” (HC 1:176.)”.

We’re putting the latest stats together and they should be done by tomorrow, sorry for the delay! I’m not a math person, so I’m taking extra time to check my calculations via the math guy in my life – Kirk! 🙂
We received a few comments via the blog, site, and private e-mails from people in response to the Church’s stats we reported on yesterday. Be sure to check them out! The mess this church has left in its wake is startling. Please, continue to pray for those involved whether active, inactive, or otherwise.
The one thing we noticed in the talks they delivered is the absence of our dear Lord Jesus. Their talks were reminiscent a pep rally for business people, and didn’t focus on Jesus at all. Their scripture cited below is a good example.
Doctrine and Covenants 132:15-17; “Therefore, if a man marry him a wife in the world, and he marry her not by me nor by my
word, and he covenant with her so long as he is in the world and she with him, their covenant and marriage are not of force when they are dead, and when they are out of the world; therefore, they are not bound by any law when they are out of the world. 16 Therefore, when they are out of the world they neither marry nor are given in marriage; but are appointed angels in heaven, which angels are ministering servants, to minister for those who are worthy of a far more, and an exceeding, and an eternal weight of glory. 17 For these angels did not abide my law; therefore, they cannot be enlarged, but remain separately and singly, without exaltation, in their saved condition, to all eternity; and from henceforth are not gods, but are angels of God forever and ever.”

Discourses of Brigham Young, selected and arranged by John A. Widtsoe [Salt Lake City: Deseret Book Co., 1954], pp. 191-193 “We have a holy reverence for and a belief in the Bible…I believe the words of the Bible are just what they are; but aside from that I believe the doctrines concerning salvation contained in that book are true, and that their observance will elevate any people, nation or family that dwells on the face of the earth. The doctrines contained in the Bible will lift to a superior condition all who observe them; they will impart to them knowledge, wisdom, charity, fill them with compassion and cause them to feel after the wants of those who are in distress, or in painful or degraded circumstances. They who observe the precepts contained in the Scriptures will be just and true and virtuous and peaceable at home and abroad. Follow out the doctrines of the Bible, and men will make splendid husbands, women excellent wives, and children will be obedient; they will make families happy and the nations wealthy and happy and lifted up above the things of this life. 13:175.” (more…)

Wilford Woodruff, His Life and Labors, p 587; “There is one peculiar characteristic
noticeable in the journal of Wilford Woodruff, it is that hopeful, joyful spirit that dwells with ever increasing satisfaction upon the things that are good and uplifting…He said in his journal of October, that year, that “Aunt Jane,” the colored sister, had been to see him. She was anxious to go through the Temple and receive the higher ordinances of the gospel.
President Woodruff blessed her for her constant, never changing devotion to the gospel, but explained to her her disadvantages as one of the descendants of Cain. In after years when President Joseph F. Smith preached the funeral sermon of this same faithful woman he declared that she would in the resurrection attain the longings of her soul and become a white and beautiful person.” – 1909
