‘A man’s pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit.’ Proverbs 29:23

General Conference, ‘Sisters in Zion’, October 2020 “If the past is prologue, at the time of the Savior’s coming, the daughters who are deeply committed to their covenants with God will be more than half of those who are prepared to welcome Him when He comes. But whatever the numbers, your contribution in creating unity among the people prepared for that Zion will be far greater than half.” — Henry B. Eyring  (more…)

‘The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?’ Jeremiah 17:9

General Conference, ‘By Union of Feeling We Obtain Power’, October 2020 “As we seek union of feeling, we will call down the power of God to make our efforts whole. …

‘…On June 9, the Prophet said… It grieves me that there is no fuller fellowship—if one member suffer all feel it—by union of feeling we obtain pow’r with God.’

…That small sentence struck me like lightning. By union of feeling we obtain power with God. … How will I create that “union of feeling” when all are so different? … What power from God might I access if I am just a little bit more unified with others? …

We may not yet be where we want to be, and we are not now where we will be. I believe the change we seek in ourselves and in the groups we belong to will come less by activism and more by actively trying every day to understand one another. Why? Because we are building Zion—a people “of one heart and one mind.”” — Sharon Eubank, First Counselor in the Relief Society General Presidency (more…)

‘For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints.’ 1 Corinthians 14:33

Today we’re looking at more of the talk Henry Eyring gave at General Conference. His use of their canon from the book of Moses should cause great concern for those who listened to this man’s talk.

We pray they’ll stop to think about what he’s said, and question how Joe Smith’s claims could be true. To read his talk in full, see General Conference, ‘Sisters in Zion’, October 2020. (more…)

General Conference, ‘The Exquisite Gift of the Son’, October 2020 “…at some point the full, excruciating guilt of every sin we commit must be felt. Justice demands it, and God Himself cannot change it. … We must never forget that the very purpose of repentance is to take certain misery and transform it into pure bliss. …

…through the staggering goodness of Jesus Christ and His infinite Atonement, we can escape the deserved agonies of our moral failings and overcome the undeserved agonies of our mortal misfortunes.” — Matthew S. Holland [emp. added] (more…)

General Conference, ‘The Exquisite Gift of the Son’, October 2020 “Sometimes exquisite pain comes not from sin but from honest mistakes, the actions of others, or forces beyond our control. …

Regardless of the causes of our worst hurts and heartaches, the ultimate source of relief is the same: Jesus Christ. He alone holds the full power and healing balm to correct every mistake, right every wrong, adjust every imperfection, mend every wound, and deliver every delayed blessing…” — Matthew S. Holland (more…)

General Conference, ‘Sisters in Zion’, October 2020 “You sisters … do not hold a second place in our Father’s plan for the eternal happiness and well-being of His children. You are an absolutely essential part of that plan. … Without you the plan could not function. Without you the entire program would be frustrated. … Each of you is a daughter of God, endowed with a divine birthright. …” — Henry Eyring (more…)

General Conference, ‘Waiting on the Lord’ October 2020 “… while we work and wait together for the answers to some of our prayers, I offer you my apostolic promise that they are heard and they are answered, though perhaps not at the time or in the way we wanted. But they are always answered at the time and in the way an omniscient and eternally compassionate parent should answer them. My beloved brothers and sisters, please understand that He who never sleeps nor slumbers cares for the happiness and ultimate exaltation of His children above all else that a divine being has to do. He is pure love, gloriously personified, and Merciful Father is His name. …

COVID and cancer, doubt and dismay, financial trouble and family trials. When will these burdens be lifted? The answer is “by and by.” And whether that be a short period or a long one is not always ours to say, but by the grace of God, the blessings will come to those who hold fast to the gospel of Jesus Christ. That issue was settled in a very private garden and on a very public hill in Jerusalem long ago.” — Jeffrey Holland (more…)

General Conference, ‘Ask, Seek, and Knock’, October 2020 “Recently a loved one said to me, “I believe personal revelation to be true. I believe the Holy Ghost will show me all things I should do. It is easy to believe when I feel my bosom burn with undoubting conviction. But how can I have the Holy Ghost always speak to me at this level?”

To my loved one and to all of you, I would say that I too would like to constantly feel those strong impressions from the Spirit and always see clearly the path to follow. But I don’t.

However, what we might feel more often is the still, small voice of the Lord whispering to our mind and heart: “I am here. I love you. Go on; do your best. I will support you.” We don’t always need to know everything or see everything. (more…)

‘For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that day.’ 2 Timothy 1:12

Before we look at today’s text, take a moment to reflect on the Bible verse above, and keep it in mind as we look at what Mr. Jackson said at the last General Conference. We’re certain that if anyone calling themselves a Christian would remember Paul’s words, organizations like Mormonism would be non-existent.

As an FYI, we’re looking at just a portion of Mr. Jackson’s talk. The reason for this is because of the numerous lies he told. We’ve pulled a few, and addressed them to show how Christians can pray for, and use them as a witnessing tool. To read it in full, see link below.

Remember beloved, we’re not doing this to mock, or ridicule, the Mormon people! On the contrary, we do this because our hearts are broken for their predicament. We’re convinced they love Jesus, but it’s the wrong Jesus! Mr. Jackson’s words are in black, and our response is in red.

General Conference, ‘The Culture of Christ’, October 2020

The gospel of Jesus Christ teaches us that there is purpose in life. Our being here is not just some big cosmic accident or mistake! We are here for a reason. (more…)

Today we’re checking out two talks given at GC; one by Dallin Oaks, the other by David Bednar. As we’ve noted earlier, the main theme for this conference was addressing racism. However, true to form, they couldn’t miss the opportunity to throw in the obligatory false teachings.

4.Proving Oneself for Eternal Progression

General Conference, ‘We Will Prove Them Herewith’, October 2020 “…tests in the school of mortality are a vital element of our eternal progression. Interestingly, however, the word test is not found even one time in the scriptural text of the standard works in English.

Rather, words such as prove, examine, and try are used to describe various patterns of demonstrating appropriately our spiritual knowledge about, understanding of, and devotion to our Heavenly Father’s eternal plan of happiness and our capacity to seek for the blessings of the Savior’s Atonement. …The process of proving ourselves is a fundamental part of Heavenly Father’s great plan of happiness.” — David A. Bednar

The LDS Church announced their intention of building eight new temples at their last General Conference in October 2019. Today we’re looking at two of those choices, and in the next few days, we’ll look at a couple more.

Our reason for concern on the two we’re looking at stems from the Church’s choice of location, and what they said about the ‘help’ they’re giving to them. The two temples in question: Guatemala, and Papua New Guinea. We’ve listed the stats for each country below, along with a few questions! To read the Church announcement in full, see October 2019 General Conference News and Announcements.

In addition to the announcement of a new temple, at the end of the same month the Church also announced their donation of 100 beds to the hospital in Port Moresby. This is obviously a show to warm up locals to their presence, and gives future missionaries a foot in the door showing their concern for them. Here’s the reality of life regarding these two temples … (more…)
